  2. Nah, just make the Triarius trained at Elite rank, making them economically almost useless, but militarily strong, without losing their CS status. The Triarii weren't élite in the sense of being fantastic fighters, they were simply those soldiers in the oldest age-class and a level below the Equites in wealth.

  11. Hi guys! Water Engine. I've searched for this and haven't found. Is that so difficult to make water flow from higher altitude to lower altitude in the game? I think it would be amazing. If the water were related to the resources needed to a civilization grow in the game it would be super. I know the game started as a Age of Empires mod. But I think is a bigger thing now. I'm trying to use the game to teach some economics matter. All games like Empire Earth, Rising Nations, AoE, etc have resources but none of them have water witch is basic and the most important resource in the past and today . The water Engine would make possible great new scenarios. I can't stop thinking about what to create. Let me know what you think about it. Best regards!

Yes, the destructive power of battering rams and elephants to buildings is too high, so that the difference between low-tech weapons and high-tech weapons in siege weapons cannot be reflected, especially battering rams, siege towers and catapults are P3 unlocked. There's another reason, whether it's a CC or a fort, these buildings require too many soldiers to have enough firepower, causing you to think twice about letting the garrison leave the building to attack the battering ram, as this will significantly weaken Building firepower. And the enemy's troops covering the battering ram can in turn eliminate the soldiers you leave the building's protection when the threat of the building's firepower diminishes. It is also very necessary to increase the base firepower of the defensive buildings, to put it mildly, the firepower of CCs, towers and fortresses should be at least doubled without any garrison.

  18. I used to want to join P4 too, but now I feel like it's unnecessary. People feel that the early game is too short because P2 is irrelevant in the current game. In this stage, players basically don't fight, because you don't have siege weapons, and attacking enemy cities is mostly futile. So people ignored P2, and the stone wall that appeared in P2, and chose to go directly to P3 to fight. Therefore, the current battles mainly take place in P1 and P3. This kind of game progress, like a dumbbell, is very strange to me.

  19. having a 4th phase doesn't change phase 1 and 2 being short. One would need to redesign them so that they actually provide different gameplay options, instead of just being phases you rush through to p3. So I don't think that's a good argument. I'm not against p4, but it has t be filled with something meaningful and unless most of DE's concepts are adapted I don't see this happening.

I think a simple aura bonus (something like the old woman eco bonus but for fighting) would be simple (easy to understand so the game doest become overly compacted) and nice (creates new strategies and features). It also wouldn’t require code changes or anything like that. ton of its options here for sure.

  22. i would love to see a couple more skiritai-esq units. One of which could be axe cav, especially since this unit is unique to the Persians. Hyrcannian cav are currently worse than swordcav, with less hack/sec and 2 less pierce armor. Their best use is for crush against buildings. Since they seem to be a "light" cavalry, I think it would be cool if they could become a more costly, more powerful rank 3 unit like skiritai. Specifically, this should be the fastest cavalry in the game, keeping the light armor, but additional hack dmg. The specifics of these could be honed obviously for balance, but I think a fast and light, high damage unit would be exciting.

  24. I mean, in most RTS, the battering ram is a relatively basic unit, not very high in attack and HP. But 0AD, rams are put in the later stage (I always wonder why P2 did not siege), the cost is very high, and it looks like a high-tech weapon. Excessive technical requirements and costs result in the battering ram having to be strengthened in terms of data, otherwise it will become an expensive and fragile waste product.

  26. I'd like to hear from others who try it. If you have a screen recording setup and do 0ad videos on Youtube, maybe you can show your play experience? I mostly play with it locally with AI so far, hasn't been much tested in multiplayer.

In current battles, players rarely build walls and fortresses, except for the walls given by Iberia at the start. So it's easier and more common to capture buildings with units (which honestly feels awkward to capture buildings and then delete them), or demolish unfortified buildings with rams. And if we make burning buildings more efficient than capturing them, then players will fortify their towns with stone-built fire-resistant fortifications, hindering infantry and cavalry attacks, and siege machines will become Indispensable.

  37. As someone who plays Seleucids pretty regularly these day, I actually never even knew about this. Unless I find myself playing a 1v1 on an inappropriately large map, the thought of building a new CC is one that never even occurs to me. The military colony is a superior building for expansions.

  40. The pathfinder overhead was greatly reduced by using more CPU cores (on things that have them at least) Nowadays graphics and javascript simulation are quite big on performance. Wraitii made a patch to reduce some performance loss due to the AI (data was copied to it which is slow)

  43. I like this new faction. Many of the games I've seen always depict a later era, usually Japan after the 8th century, which seems to be more Chinese, while the earlier Japan with its own civilization characteristics is rarely represented.
