  1. Which ranged units? I haven't really tried hard core balancing much in DE.
  2. I would say maybe "Private" slaves and "State-Owned" slaves? This was a thing in many cultures. One example is that the mines of Laureion, controlled by Athens, were worked by slaves owned by the state. While farms were largely privately owned and worked by privately-owned slaves.
  3. Delenda Est makes this happen by making units classes that the civ currently can't train for historical reasons or whatnot into mercenaries available to them at the mercenary camp.
  4. I think they try to garrison inside enemy buildings?
  5. I'm guessing they did that for the Favor/ Glory resource which is what I would do it for.
  6. Indeed, I think that helmet looks way more authentic. Regarding Hellenization, I'd think the rank and file soldier would probably be less Hellenized than the elite guard and noble class, but that's probably just me wanting more ethnicity shown in the units and making excuses.
  7. So, working with @stanislas69 on compressing a new pyromod file, but it's not liking a bunch of files and throws errors (I wish it would just ignore those files and not compress them and compress everything else, but it doesn't). Not sure where this leaves me. Perhaps I can just do it uncompressed, but that will triple the download size. hmmm
  8. @Alexandermb is a beast artist no doubt, it's just something that jumped out at me when I watched the pig walk around in the game.
  9. Hmm, animators need to study the walk of animals and not just go by memory or imagination. The feet of animals go a lot closer to the center line than many of the animal animations currently in the game. The pigs in the game, for instance, walk like they are about to poopoo on themselves, with an unnaturally wide stance. hehe You can see the hoof falls are very close to the center line from the front. Legs go underneath the animal, not splayed outward like a crocodile.
  10. Question: Who worked on the UI for this? Mainly the hero selection at the beginning? Would love to do something like that for Delenda Est.
  11. Any kind of "fancier" helmet we can use for the Brit champ swordsdude? Looks like most of these are reserved for the Gauls, yeah? ->
  12. Ooooh, looking forward to this one. The Sanga cattle for Kushites.
  13. I'll reiterate my 0 A.D. Epochs vision. Where cultures can be explored in detail based on a period of time. Say, you as a player choose the Romans as your civ, and the match Host has chosen Classical Epoch, then your Romans would be the Polybian Romans. If the Host has chosen the Medieval Epoch, then your Romans would be the Byzantine Romans. etc.
  14. I think you both are being too hard on the original designers. One of the premises of the game was that each faction would be represented by a slice of time, preferably at a moment of their greatest strength or at some interesting point in their history. Since almost every other game about the Romans depicts them during the principate or triumvirate, it probably made sense to choose the Punic War era for their depiction. "But the Seleucids!" - the Seleucid reform feature was just supposed to be that: a feature, something special for them to make them stand apart from the other civs, almost like a bonus. It was never meant to be applied to all the other civs. Not to say it couldn't be though.
  15. Indeed. We know very little about their religions/mythologies though.
  16. The map plane is actually a square, with the corners shaded in black to make a circle.
  17. I probs would have just set the RegenInterval to 1000 and Rate to 1, but hey.
  18. Another challenge is those black edges of the map making the horizon look ugly, but that's a separate, but related issue. Would it be worth it to truly make the map round? Or perhaps we can think of other ways to make the map and horizon looks more seamless.
