  1. https://www.anasynthesis.co.uk/index.php/nike/the-temple-of-athena-nike I'm thinking it would be possible to use the current Athenian temple models as a basis for the Temple of Athena Nike. Athena Nike would be narrower and the columns would be skinnier. It would also have nicer sculptures at the top. I think the structure would be overall about 80-90% the size of the buildable temple and would have the white rooftiles of the Parthenon instead of the brown tiles of the standard temple. It would also have the bronze gates inside of the columns in front of the door.

  4. For this, it would be nice for DE indeed to get Merc Camps and Farmsteads into its (customized) versions of the random maps. This might be a good base game Pull Request opportunity for sure.

  6. Sadly, it's the modded map_sizes file. I'll remove it for the next mod bundle and maybe create an Issue on gitea. Perhaps someone will work on it (it's pretty low priority as far as the base game is concerned, but is pertinent for mods).
  7. What I can do for R29 is focus heavily on creating at least 1 skirmish map mimicking each of the popular random map scripts. I agree with you about the current random maps. I don't like their terrain blending, many use the worst terrains in the game, and things don't look natural. Skirmish maps are far superior (at least the ones I make ).
  8. Feature, not a bug. jk It's probably the custom map sizes. I'll revert the map size file and see if that fixes it. Honestly, I might remove random maps outright, since none of them use DE's features. Maybe I can find someone to help me add the DE features (Mercenary Camps, Farmsteads, etc.).
  9. That's not necessarily true. It's definitely a discussion we can have. Your other points are 100% fair. My main reasons for starting DE. Collaboration, especially online collaboration, can be very frustrating at times. But what you can do (which you've already done and which I've done) is use your mod for experimentation, etc., then parse out bits and pieces you think would serve well the base game and make PRs.

  11. I'd rather Hack = Melee, Pierce = Ranged. Crush = Siege and/or Anti-building. KISS principle applies and prevents unintended consequences.
  12. Or.... add Blocking & Muting to the base game's code. Alone, they would be a worthwhile basic features.
  13. This can be a compromise between what we have now (which kinda sucks, not gonna lie) and the "wandering farmer" of Age of Empires.
  14. He already is adding things to the base game. All one has to do is make Pull Requests. Other people criticize the code to improve it, or a design discussion occurs so that the design is honed and refined and meets the criteria of the game.
  15. But I will say I enjoy the GUI customization screen. Hadn't seen that before. I wish you would focus on adding things like that to the base game. You are indeed talented at this.
  16. If you get a team game going, please test the Catapult construction ASAP and see if it causes a hard crash. It if does, I will make a release 28.1 with a fix.
  17. I found a crash. Right clicking the Noba merc portrait to get the information viewer causes an unrecoverable civ error. Apparently, the Ui does not like it when a unit's civ is that of an unselectable civ (in this case, "noba"). So, locally I changed their civ to "kush." Will add that to the next bundle.
  18. Very much so. It's the one major-major feature I think could be very distinguishing for the mod or even the base game. To round it all out, I'd love an RPG-hero mode too (like the old game: Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, but with differences of course). But that's a completely different subject. If we were to add Battalions to the mod, we'd need to design it in such a way so that if subsequent base game changes make the feature obsolete, it can be easily removed or maintained.

  21. I already use a git repo: https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/delenda_est I accept Pull Requests there, for sure. But to test the .pyromod mod file, I'll need to host it somewhere.
  22. For this release: I've completed bundling the mod into a .pyromod file for distribution. I'm looking for suggestions about where to host the file (it's 598 MB, too large to host on the forum) for everyone to try it out and test. EDIT: @Grapjas assisted me in hosting the file. Please see top post for link! I'd like to test for a few things: Bugs. Bad text. Error or Warning messages. Crashes. Please test out via multiplayer with a buddy and see if anything causes an out of sync or crash. Specifically, try to place a Catapult with your soldiers. This caused a very hard crash in multiplayer in past releases. Let's see if the problem persists. If it does, I'll have to remove Catapult building for now and move them back to the Arsenal like in the base game until a fix can be found (and then re-bundle the mod for mod.io). Bad balancing. I'm not in the nitty gritty detail balancing mode quite yet, but if there is something grossly out of balance, post it here. For release 29 (the future): Suggestions for new heroes (I'd like at least 4 heroes per civ. Several civs currently only have 3), and hero auras/bouses, etc. (several heroes have incomplete stats and auras). Requests for new civs. Balancing. Maybe can get into nitty gritty balancing for r29. Requests/ideas for more main menu backgrounds. Would be nice to have 1 per civ -- at least 1 per larger "culture" for sure. New features? ?
