Unfortunately, not all matches have been played this week. I find it unlikely the match between Dakara and Stockfish will be played even with a deadline extension. Since Dakara showed more activity on the forum and the lobby, I will give him the win by forfeit. Thus we can start the 2nd round (semifinals) this week! The deadline is at Sunday 23, 23:59 UTC. The matches are: ValihrAnt (2322) vs Dakara (1772) Feldfeld (2169) vs Edwarf (1861) @ValihrAnt@Dakara@Edwarf6 points

Again we are spinning in infinite circles. Why can't we find a way to balance phase 1 swords instead of making everything the same again? What I mean is that we must also keep the focus on diversification, if not, it will always be an alpha for changes and another for reversing the changes.4 points

SPI does work with a law firm but I don't know if they will help us in a timely fashion. (My experience has not been good in this respect.) I'm not sure I would handle this using legal means anyway. I would just write Steam and ask to take it down, and see what they say. I doubt that Valve would want to keep the game on their platform against the creators' wishes. That would be an unnecessary legal and PR risk on their side.3 points

Spectators shouldn't be allowed in tournament matches, and I think they also shouldn't be allowed in rated 1v1s. At a minimum there is a big risk of "ghosting", ie. sharing information with a player that shouldn't be shared. At a maximum there is a risk of disruption of the game through network attack (DoS or DDoS) in order to benefit a certain player. Unlike with gladiator arenas of ancient Rome, you can be a spectator afterward by watching the replays.3 points

Spear infantry are a poor counter to jav cav. Better to boost the spear cav in some way, a unit which is intended to counter jav cav.3 points

0 A.D. Mainland Twilight New Features Mainland Twilight Map New Biomes: Dark Night Evening Notes Uses a clean-looking grass texture. Introduces nighttime gameplay in 0 A.D. Credits This mod is based on modifications to the Feldfeld Mod but has been stripped down into a lightweight version. It utilizes public mod library files instead of customized versions of Feldmap to ensure compatibility. Partial customization is implemented directly in the map generation script to prevent out-of-sync (OOS) errors. You both have good points. For the DDOS situation, I don't want to elaborate too much to give any ideas but I don't think announcing the game beforehand would change much. For cheating by sharing information, this is of course something that should be taken seriously. Many of the benefits obtained through this kind of cheating could also be from another kind of cheating, that doesn't require a third party, but is difficult to perform. If we compare with big chess websites, games are public and nothing prevent a player to give advices to another I guess, also if not abused, and if done properly, cheating with engines is possible without being detected. Of course it's not exactly the same situation but the point being, if someone is motivated enough he will find a way I guess, so is it worth it to trade off the community benefits a live tournament game could bring for less convenience for the potential cheater? That's a good question and if players have concerns they can write in this thread or message me. Personally I would still prefer to go for live games. For comparison, AoE2 streams games with a delay, so pure live games is an impossibility, but the stakes are much larger there (and they have more programmatic capabilities, also being closed source is an advantage to this regard it looks like). If even one tournament game gets DDOSed, it will be detected and there will be a clear precedent. So measures could be taken at that moment. It is much easier to avoid DDOS from these 1v1s than from the regular TGs. We cannot say the same of cheating which could be very hard to detect. I will note again that the competitive aspect was not the first objective of this tournament, but well it's still a tournament. As things stand, I will give players freedom over if they want to announce it, personally I will ask my opponents if they want to. Matches that get played on-the-fly in lobby without getting scheduled of course can't be announced2 points

Yesterday, user1 informed me that the leaked accounts are banned. I think that they have been banned for a while, but yesterday is when I was informed of it. As for why it took so long for the accounts to be banned, it was necessary to update the Terms of Use to forbid account sharing and disclosing passwords. Then it was necessary for the new ToU to take effect, which happened when alpha 26 was released. Clause 1b is the new clause that forbids account sharing and disclosing passwords.2 points

Spent the weekend playing the latest terramagna26, xiiiad, and millenium 0ad. Kudos to all involved for the gorgeous work! Since there was no vanilla civs in Mill0ad I had my work cut out playing byzantines with no heroes. It was a big plus having so many interesting mods ready to go with A26.2 points

On another note, in my map Alpine Mountains (available in feldmap), in Winter biome, it alternates randomly between sunny, snowy and night environment2 points

indeed feldmap and autociv are both on mod.io and everyone should get them personally i would like to see night time mainland2 points

Indeed, environmental settings are underrated. For some random maps, randomizing these settings between a few presets could be cool.2 points

If it is it's a terrible one. Imagine 1000 player coming here to complain about DDOS? That would crash the lobby server and maybe the forums, if we're not ready.2 points

IIRC, 0 A.D cannot be legally released on steam as of now (Valve requires some copyright waivers that we cannot give due to the lack of a CLA). So they did do something wrong, and we should probably contact Valve as we have like 2 decades of contributors who have not agreed to said waivers.2 points

if theres anyone who already knows this stuff well and can easily make such simple adjustments for me, we can work together and make a totally fixed/improved 0ad mod prob within a day or 2 tops since it takes such minimal effort for me to figure out proper balance for functional, viable but not op options and it would be equally as easy for someone well versed in the programming aspects to simply adjust the values. Im thinking building costs, unit trantime, unit cost, etc. as well as if possible, mapgen rate of metal/stone/extras or if possible, and i assume this is more of a stretch make a fair balanaced maps mod, better than a25 one which had many issues with variability such as 400 foods not being balanced, hunts varying in distance making 1 side get half the walktime often resulting in basically half the value, etc i also would really like to add, if possible, removed buildings, or buildings that have already been designed/have existed in the code, but never used,(i have seen some in some special maps maybe a year or 2 ago like strange wood structures) im sure i could make use of/bring into the game with balance a lot of such buildings/ideas. specifically, id bring back stoas.1 point

I am currently adding the Suebian Germans and the Epirotes. There are relatively mature repos for Thracians, Illyrians, Yayoi, and Maya which can be added to make a nice well-rounded roster. All of these could probably be added to the Terra Magna repo and in good working order within a couple weeks. I have not looked at the Garamantes repo (if there is one). Lusitanians would be an awesome add too. So, that would bring the list to: Epirotes Garamantes (?) Illyrians Lusitanians Maya Scythians** Suebian Germans Thebans** Thracians Xiongnu** Yayoi Japanese Zapotecs** A list rivaling the list of vanilla civs. **= Already in the TM repo.1 point

As it hasn't been posted before: The URL of the Steam profile page shown in OP is https://store.steampowered.com/app/2158440/0_AD_Empires_Ascendant/ Interesting: In the title of the profile page is a typo. The 'D' for domini isn't followed by a dot. While Wildfire Games is listed as developer, Public Games Distribution is set as publisher. Only game of this publisher is 0 A.D.1 point

For instance give troops that go on walls a fire attack. Treat it as a passive buff that only applies to troops on walls. Give it a multiplier against rams if you like.1 point

Example of influence of the Celtic mercenaries in the Illyrian art, right in Gostilj (Srebrenica): The Getae were a threat before the Gallic invasion, as seen by the Getic wars with Lysimachus. After that, it seems to me they were mainly busy in the Northern coast of the Black Sea with the Scythians, the Sarmatians, the Bastarnae and the Scirii. Seems correct. As a general rule, the Illyrians in the south close to their homeland got heavily influenced by the Greeks and the Macedonians. In the North, the Iapodes and Liburnians got mixed and influenced by the Venetian and Hallstatt cultures. Although for the language, I cannot help at all.1 point
