remember the lobby is used also by casual players who want to do private games together with their friends, oftentimes against AIs or with modded versions of the game. they wouldn't have any interest in taking that test.4 points

mace_exploit.mov Credit to weirdjokes for this one. People will soon be abusing this, as word is spreading. Macedonians seem to be able to generate res by repeatedly trading res back and forth. Ex. 500 stone -> metal 500 metal -> stone 500 stone -> metal 500 metal -> stone 500 stone -> metal etc. If you do it with speed, it seems to generate res, so in just a few seconds, I had an extra 500 metal. Maybe this is a release blocker?2 points

@Yekaterina I don't know if this is a valid question: Who will spent his/her time to create a entrance test? Doing an entrance test before you can play ranked games does not seem so bad. I think this is a very valid concern. Finally, what is the goal and what is the method? If stopping smurfs is the goal then I don't know if the entrace test is the ideal method. But I have a better idea for an entrance requirement for OP TGs and it does not require a programmer. Get your 1v1 rating above 1500 or be kicked. Jokingly, I can't help to remark this: I don't know if this idea is fine with meth.2 points

I agree. Perhaps it would be just enough to be able to train up to 3 heroes, but each one only once. Can still have more than 3 available heroes that way.2 points

Hi, I tested this in a game and I was unable to make pillar in phase 2 because the pillar needed hero to raise the limit from 0 to 5. So basically, I had to train Ashoka to get pillar(p3), an to go overboard I trained chanakya and garrisoned it in blacksmith. The train time was op fast, almost exploit level. but the wait was not worth it. It'll be good if we can make pillars without hero in town phase as proposed though.2 points

Huh. I guess you are serious about this, contrary to what I expected reading the title. First of all, I don't think this would be a good idea. I understand we don't suffer from a too large player base, so I wouldn't want to put up too many hurdles for potential newbies. Personally, if I wanted to check out the online multiplayer part of a game and was presented with an ~hour long exam to enter I might say 'What is this $#!t ?' and leave right away. I'm not necessarily convinced saying a n00b is 'not ready' is a good approach; if they play poorly, they will get handed their butt swiftly, but anyone serious about playing strategic games against others will learn from that and improve. As for smurfs, I think people will just have to live with it. A welcome message in the lobby could tell ppl that ratings might not be accurate and remind everyone to be kind; seems to me that one or two additional active mods would do more for a good experience than any technical approach. However, should the swarm intelligence decide to go with this exam, I guess something like a lake map, populated with three medium AIs showing the behavior you suggested, would do fine; as you want to include all kind of things into the score ceiling or floor effects shouldn't be too much of a problem.2 points

btw today a player called Sarah T came on and met me. She complained that everywhere she goes, people harass her and interrogate her whether she is me. This is unacceptable; you don't harass innocent people for my problems. If you got a problem with me then take it to me; send a message on forum or ask me to a 1v1 duel. You can even publically shame me on the forum if necessary. However, harassing any of my innocent friends is absolutely unacceptable! Nor does it solve your problem! Don't vent your obsession problems on innocent people just because you are too scared of me! @user1 pls don't ban random innocent people just because someone claimed they are my smurf account. Smurf speculators are rarely right. Just because you saw a feminine account name, doesn't mean it's definitely my smurf account. It's very likely that they are just a new player, although not necessarily female. defenderbenny2 points

there are a couple of new details in the link. Relationship with Han Dynasty. According to Chinese history books, "Ronko" (Lunheng) written in The Later Han Dynasty provides knowledge about Wa in the Zhou period, and historical records of the Han Dynasty explains about Wa in the age of the former Han dynasty, such as; people of Wa were living in many separated provinces and they sent an envoy. "History of the Later Han Dynasty" (the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, established in 432) describes that Wano Nano Kokuo (the King of Japan) received Kanno Wano Nano Kokuo Kinin (the Golden Seal of the King of Japan, Chinese Colony) from Kobu-tei (Emperor Guangwu) of The Later Han Dynasty in 57. Also Suisho the King of Wa (倭国王帥升) (also written as 倭面土國王帥升) sent seiko (slave) to The Later Han Dynasty in 107. "Gishiwajinden" (literally, an 'Account of the Wa' in "The History of the Wei Dynasty") from Sangokushi (Annals of the Three Kingdoms) describes state of Wakoku in the third century in detail that Queen Himiko ruled over the Yamatai-Koku kingdom. Although there is no evidence of an official negotiation between Wakoku and Wu in the Three Kingdoms period, two Gabuntai Shinjukyo Mirror (Mirror with figures of duties and sacred animals) with the name of the era in Wu exists as a relic. One was excavated from Toriibarakitsunezuka Tumulus in Ichikawa Misatocho (former Mitamacho), Nishiyatsushiro district, Yamanashi Prefecture and it has an inscription about counting years of Sekiu Gannen (year 1) Year (in 238). Another was excavated from Akura Tumulus in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture and it has an inscription about counting years of year seven in Sekiu (in 244).2 points

White wouldn't work, since white is reserved for Gaia objects on the minimap. I have often thought that the number of possible colors should at least be doubled.^ Indeed. Perhaps a color from @Langbart's BoonUI.2 points

@Yekaterina The idea which you have written here, I think I have posted before in lobby / chat room of my host in a23 / forum . Which was based on Counter strike cs go. We used too have some debates regarding ratings in lobby / match lobby. Which i believe it is good except excluding anyone from lobby for being bad at it. ELO point's doesn't need too be removed, but I believe that giving a player few games of unrated which would be "judged" by the system how many elo point's he will get it's not a bad idea. (Counter Strike global offensive has good matching due firstly if I remember correctly you must play 10 games for a new account to be assigned a specific rank. After that you must climb to the top, whatever the system gives you. (Often i got silver, one of the worst. Pain in the a...) To get to better rank a silver often was mixed with "nova" rank to be tested next to another players and beat the opposite teams quite few times. Pretty darn hard. Elo point's doesn't need to be removed, Simply apply elo points to simillar system which in cs go.1 point

@Boudica I was able to kill 4 cc's before 5 mins. There is no way to stop the ele hero. XD. I simply walked right up as soon as the 3m ceasefire ended. Unlike in a23 an ele hero is worth 2 eles of damage and 3 eles of resistance.1 point

Exactly, so it is optional. Consider the grade as an entry condition to TGs and not casual part of the lobby. What I want is for both new and old players to see a friendly lobby instead of one with hosts who only says 'I don't know you' then kick A guy with 200 IQ has pointed out to me why some people are extremely against changing nicknames: if you change the nickname, they can't predict your strategy (all they know is your skill level but they don't know whether you are boomer or rusher). In which case they can't just exploit your habits, instead, they have to scout you. Now, in my opinion, scouting your enemy is the correct play, instead of saying: "Oh, @Dizaka is next to me so he will rush me with merc sword cav. Yekaterina is his pocket and she will definitely boom." Prediction by player name is never the correct mindset because anyone can change their strategy at any time. If they do, it is even more unacceptable to say "oh, berhudar must have hacked her account" just because I rushed with mass cavalry in a game even though I normally boom.1 point

I could imagine giving new players the option to become a "certified noob" and get a nice badge next to their name. To make this realistically work, we'd again probably need an automated hosting service. I kind of doubt a person would care to keep reviewing noob games, but I might be wrong. It might be a nice idea for a small hobby project to set this up. Remind me to look into this when I retire. It could kind of look like a special campaign game you could play in the multiplayer lobby when you want. A bot would keep track of your progress and make it visible to others in the form of badges or other. Sounds like fun to me. (Edit) A few ideas on how the campaigns might look like: Survive for X minutes on the Survival map. Gives you a bronze silver or gold Defender badge, depending on how long you can hold. The rush challenge. A small map with scattered groups of enemy soldiers. Your goal is to make a decent attacking army early and clear the map within a time limit. Get various Rusher badges, depending on how fast you can clear the map. The boom challenge. Get a Boomer badge depending on how fast you can reach a certain population number. The hunter challenge. Lure as many animals and gather as much food as possible within a time limit. I mean, just keeping track of these results would make nice additional leaderboards. I've often heard people boast about how fast they can grow or something, so imagine there is an official, automatically managed leaderboard for that. What do you think?1 point

Don't be surprised to see the kofun period intertwined with the Yayoi. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kofun_period [...]following the Yayoi period. The Kofun and the subsequent Asuka periods are sometimes collectively called the Yamato period. This period is the earliest era of recorded history in Japan, but studies depend heavily on archaeology since the chronology of historical sources tends to be distorted. The Kofun period is called the Yamato period by some Western scholars, since this local chieftainship became the imperial dynasty at the end of the period. However, the Yamato clan ruled just one polity among others during the Kofun era. Japanese archaeologists emphasise that other regional chieftainships (such as Kibi) were in close contention for dominance in the first half of the Kofun period; Kibi's Tsukuriyama Kofun is Japan's fourth-largest.1 point

Scholar Controversy. The theory of mirrors being made in Japan On the other hand, because of the fact that no mirror similar to the Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror was ever discovered in China and that some mirrors had the name of eras already changed in China or had nonexistent eras, there are theories that they were made in Japan or produced by the craftsmen that came from China, or they were made in China and loaded on a ship destined to Japan or they were modeled on Chinese mirrors and produced in Japan. Discussion about the Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror Because Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirrors were discovered mainly in the Kinai region, many researchers advocating the Yamatai-Koku kingdom in the Kinai region maintain Himiko's mirror and many researchers advocating Yamatai-Koku kingdom in Kyushu region maintain the mirrors were produced in Japan. However, some researchers maintaining that the mirrors were produced in Japan advocate Yamatai-Koku kingdom being in the Kinai region. Some of them advocate that the Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror was produced in Japan by craftsmen and others in the Wu dynasty (Three Kingdom) in celebration of Himiko's dispatch. On the other hand, researchers advocating the Yamatai-Koku kingdom in the Kyushu region consider the all Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirrors were be forged by future generations (though the name of era in Wei dynasty was inscribed on them.) Researchers advocating that the mirror was produced in Japan point out the following questions while those advocating Himiko's mirror disagree. Questions It doesn't chronologically match because Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror was discovered only in a tumulus after the fourth century, never in tombs after the third century which corresponds to the era of the Yamatai-Koku kingdom. No Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirrors have been discovered in China and Chinese scholars say that it is not Chinese. There is the mirror with the inscription of the name of a Chinese era which didn't exist after the change of the era. Though 100 bronze mirrors were given to Himiko as an imperial grant, many more Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirrors were discovered. Counterargument No Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirrors were left in China because it was specially made for theYamatai-Koku kingdom. The third year of Keisho (239) was the year when the month of the New Year of the fourth year of Keisho was regarded as being after December, which showed it was a time of turmoil. Later, as well, Himiko was given bronze mirrors several times. Against the argument that Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror was discovered only in tumulus after the fourth century, it consistently shows that this mirror was made in the Wei dynasty because the beginning of the Tumulus period was moved up to the third century and it was discovered in the tumulus chronologically in the third century due to the recent study results of the chronology in annual rings. That mirrors inscribed with 239 and 240 were also made in those years is understandable without question. On the contrary, the theory that this mirror was not related to the Yamatai-Koku kingdom despite the name of the era as maintained by researchers who advocate Yamatai-Koku kingdom in Kyushu region is rather inconsistent. Though there is no crucial evidence to determine whether the Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror was made in the Wei dynasty or in Japan, it is one of the compelling evidences of the Yamato theory of the Yamatai-Koku kingdom because the mirror inscribed with the years 239 and 240 can be considered to be mirrors from the third century as seen when counting years according to the accepted view of chronology in recent years. There is little doubt that the person who made the mirror wanted to use the name of Wei for some reason.1 point

I'm thinking about the mirror, but I don't think I can do it alone. https://www.japanese-wiki-corpus.org/history/Sankakubuchi Shinjukyo Mirror.html The plan is do the usual since the Athenian emblem, so that it doesn't look ugly, give it a background color. I need those figures made in drawing.1 point

Currently, you can train each of your 3 heroes once, for a max of 3 hero "lives" per match. I was wondering what people would think about having a max of 3 hero lives per match, but in any combination. So, if you want to train each one once, that's permitted. If you want to train one of the heroes 3 times in a row, then that's okay too. That way, a civ could be allowed to have more than 3 heroes available (say, 4 or 5 for some civs), but you could only train up to a max of 3 in a match.1 point

I found a kind of historical reconstruction. It looks like a later period but, the details of the materials are fine. It looks like medieval or late antiquity of Japan. Kofun-Yamato. there are many details that it shares with the Yayoi period. The war paint, the ribbons on the pants. https://isuzugawa.ti-da.net/e5872420.html1 point

I support this new type of unit for regicide. Like how catafalque was made for each civ? Where it is an infantry type unit for all and it has a standard stats and bonuses? Then localize the names like, basileus, consul, rix and etc.1 point
-
Regicide is unpredictable and that is fun. I once had my CC taken down by an elephant Hero (Hannibal ?) at the start of the game which made me lose in just 2 min. Was that unfair? yes, but would that have happened if it were perfectly balanced? probably never. I think, this is what makes the mode (the current regicide) worth a try and also play it.1 point

RTS and ARPGs are if you look beyond the outer shell actually quite similar, basically you zoom in a bit more, change the controls and add a loot, inventroy and character skills system. So I thought it would be a cool idea to use 0 A.D. as a base for a ARPG like Diablo. Besides the mentioned changes to the code, one would have to have higher quality character models and some simple changes to the AI I guess. Most of the enviromental art of 0 A.D. is good enough to even stand up to a closer zoom, so that would give us a great start. Not sure if caves are possible too with the 0 A.D. engine, but otherwise an outdoor RPG would be sufficient I guess Sadly I am no programmer, but if we would find a team to work on this, I would for sure contribute to the 3D art department. Additionally to that, there could be a cool new cooperative game-play type where you can team up with a few friend and play against an RTS like A.I. to defend your home town or such. I don't think something like that has been done before in ARPGs, so that would be cool to try out. We could also stay true to the 0 A.D. roots and try to make a ARPG without magic in a somewhat accurate historical setting. Obviously not totally realistic, but also a nice change to all the Diablo clones So what do you think? Anyone interested in taking up the task of coding this as a mod?1 point
