  1. So, I will release a hacky version for Alpha 24. I didn't edit any of the unit counters, so the soldier stats should be similar or identical to Alpha 24. However, the classic mode of building anywhere, having scouts, and 2-gendered citizens who do all the work are all there. Release Candidate: classic_mode_a24_1.pyromod

  2. Just remove the cost increase feature, then set their auras to "stackable": false, until the Minister cost feature can be properly implemented (I'd like to see this feature implemented for DE's Cult Statues, actually). The only reason for the increasing cost of each Minister is to balance the stackability of their auras.

  3. Here is an improved version of the first post, with better icons by me and @wowgetoffyourcellphone han_china.pyromod Nerfed heavily the minister from 10% to 2% I think I can live with being able to batch all minister at once giving you a bonus. Nobody is contesting that. Initially it didn't happen because it was the best quality mod we had around. Now that there are plenty other mods it's no longer. Else it would have been included long ago. "None" is a plain lie. I've fixed a lot of issues reported by @wolflance and @Ayakashi over the years. Not all sure. I've also fixed some minor things like the market's well. But I've been busy doing everything else. Why can't that be part of not perfect?

  4. Many thanks to @Stan` for creating this mod. It would be great if we can integrate Han as a formal civ into the next release A25 as they had been a major player in the world's history around 0AD. Hopefully the addition of this civ will attract more potential players. Currently the structure tree of the Chinese civ has already been determined and all of its features have been implemented in this mod: https://github.com/0ADMods/han_china I hereby call upon the balancing advisors @borg- @ValihrAnt @LetswaveaBook @maroder @badosu @Feldfeld @Player of 0AD (sorry if I didn't mention you) to give suggestions on tweaking the unit stats so that they are ready for implementation in the next alpha. There are some quite unique units from this civ and therefore we need to adapt them so that they are a fun civ to play with while being appropriately strong in comparison to the others. I have made improvements to the Chinese language packs to make this more a realistic and authentic experience, while hopefully the game will become more accessible to Chinese speakers out there. EDIT: Stan: Here is a package version of the mod compatible with A24han_china.pyromod

  5. BiliBili requires all uploaders to give their ID number on their Chinese citizen card and take a picture of themselves holding the card, therefore non-Chinese citizen cannot upload videos on there. Also all uploaders have no anonimity in the eyes of the authorities but their privacy are protected from regular viewers. In general I would say it is a more polished environment compared to Youtube as there is strict content control and some new features like instant comments and VR videos which do not exist yet on Youtube. I can do the Chinese work for you, I just want to make sure current Youtubers are happy with me transporting their videos.

  6. Hi Here sanguinariojoe, probably the last remaining spring:1944 developer (I actually started developing it when it was almost abandoned). I think I can make some comments: * Regarding the CC BY-NC license, it was a very unfortunate decision they took at the very beginning, which cannot be corrected now. Many developers are out of the radar, so collecting all the permission to get rid on that will be an endless story. There is even a tool (maintained by me) to import s3o models to blender: https://github.com/sanguinariojoe/blender_s3o_import I suspect Stan used that to import the models. Unfortunately the models imported with Blender and exported to 0AD (collada) shall be binded to the same CC BY-NC license. I would never complain about you releasing the game with other license, of course. Indeed I tried really hard (and unsuccesfully) to get rid of that license. But let's face that, using them you will be in a slippery slope. Sorry. * Regarding the game itself, they will not be actually similar to spring:1944. The main feature of spring is the ultra large scale combat: This mod will be more similar to Brothers in arms. Nothing bad on that. Well, maybe is not working nice for naval battles. * Related to that, it is interesting the suggestion of av93: The Spanish civil war was featured by significantly closer combat theaters, mainly because the weaponry was not so developed. I started a project to make a spring game for the Spanish civil war: https://github.com/sanguinariojoe/s44-spain. I even created some models of the republican side, like the Tiznao, the RFT17, the T26, and the arellano gun. Those models you can use them right now. Summarizing: If you decide to go with a Spanish civil war mod, I might be interested on that. And I am very sorry for the stupid spring:1944 license (not my bad actually).

  7. Hi all, I am Robin and I am willing to publish 0AD videos on my BiliBili channel. I already have a YouTube channel as seen in Yekaterina's links and the videos in my Youtube channel are also on my BiliBili. With other Youtubers' permission I am able to copy and publish their 0AD videos on BiliBili and add subtitles myself to help the viewers understand. BiliBili permits 'transporting' Youtube videos onto their website as long as I specify the source and the content can pass their inspection. The process of transporting such a video is as follows: 1. Download the video from Youtube using 4K Video Downloader or youtube-dl on Linux. 2. Upload the video into BiliBili's online video editor 3. Add subtitles using their editor 4. Write description, specify category and source. 5. Submit the video to the inspectors 6. After a few hours the video will be approved and made public on Bilibili Steps 2 and 3 can be replaced by editing in Kdenlive or Shotcut (I will use the most convenient method for myself). Declaration: I will not benefit monetarily from this process. I upload videos onto BiliBili as a hobby and there is no financial transaction involved. I am currently a level 2 user (maximum being 6). The first video I am planning to 'transport' is the A24 Xsayarsa release trailer. If its author can give me their consent I will do it as soon as possible. Hopefully it will attract a few potential players. With the consent of @mysticjim and @ValihrAnt I will transport their videos onto BiliBili as well. If you also make 0AD videos please tell me and I will transport your videos as well.

  11. I've often thought the game could have an "Empires Ascendant" mode, which is what the game is now with territories, citizen-soldiers, etc. This is the mode that is standard for the game and the mode that's used in official campaigns and what is used for ranking in multiplayer. But.... there could also be a "classic" mode where the game plays more like an old-school RTS akin to Age of Empires or Command & Conquer. Building on my "Two Gender Citizens" mod (here: I was thinking of creating such a "Classic Mode" mod for Alpha 24. Specs: Citizen-Soldier concept removed. There is now a "classic" Citizen/Peasant unit for gathering and building, and Soldiers for fighting, with no overlap of roles. Include the Two-Gendered Citizens mod so that the new Peasants/Citizens have male and female forms. No territory restrictions or bonuses. Borders completely removed. Place all Champions back into the Fortress. Rename Metal to Gold. Adjust icons and terminology to match. Make Catafalques more like "Relics" from Age of Empires 2. Capture one, place it into the Temple to get a trickle of Gold. Heroes removed as trainable units (but still remain in Atlas for scenarios and campaigns). Adjust costs and stats to be similar to Age of Empires 2. Archery Range unlocked for all civs. 4 phases, call the 4th Phase Empire Phase. Remove automatic ranking and introduce unit Upgrades (light, medium, heavy). Create an upgrade progression for ships, like in AOE1 (light, medium, heavy). Make Gold the trading and resource, like in AOE2 and AOM. 1 gatherer per farm; adjust farming rate to compensate. Capturing removed, except with specific circumstances (Catafalque Relics, for example). Anything else, guys? ========================================================== MOD IS NOW PLAYABLE. COMPATIBLE WITH ALPHA 24. https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/0-A.D.-Classic-Mode Still a work in progress. Please report bugs and suggest balancing and gameplay ideas.

  12. This thread is for sharing videos of battle reenactions by history enthusiast. Like this short video: Preferably from reenactment, where actions are clearly seen, rather than from movies/other video games. Would be very valuable as reference for UnitAI or Formation.

But now I have a little bit, I believe that it is enough to try something worthy of that civilization. Some references I collected with interesting time and readings. https://craterre.hypotheses.org/files/2018/05/TERRA-2016_Th-1_Art-111_Chirinos.pdf https://congresoarqueologia.cultura.gob.pe/sites/default/files/acta/archivos/actas_del_i_cna_-_vol_1_-_vw.pdf

I used a few stuff, some shady programs cause not all of it is s3o we also have a barebone s3o importer written in perl from the old days . Well I don't hope to make money and I wanted assets fast to show it was possible Good! Well I don't honestly have the bandwith to start another mod but I can guide you through it should you decide to switch engines

  16. I have WeChat (but that is more personal), WeSee (post videos up to 30seconds), popularised by Tencent. I can always register on other platforms. I don't use many Chinese social media accounts because I live in the UK right now and I rarely go to China. However, I am still capable of typing Chinese and registering an account on any new social media platform should be relatively straightforward with my ID card.

  17. I don't have an account on those websites but I will try to register an account there. Youku is slightly older (aimed to replace Youtube) and Iqiyi is mainly for watching movies and drama (like Netflix). I am impressed that you are aware of these sites! However I prefer BiliBili to these as these contain huge amounts of ADs and are money driven unlike Bilibili which has more healty content, no ads before videos and less profit-driven.

  22. ru_UA non-existent language. There are no rules or books or another content on it. Last year, a law was passed prohibiting the provision of public services in (any dialects) Russian language. So this dialect is banned in Ukraine itself. You can safely delete - Ukrainian and just Russian covers 100% of cases.

  24. One thing people love is 0 A.D.'s attention to detail and historical accuracy. Including the Han into A24 was discussed some time ago. It didn't happen. To the best of my knowledge, none of the issues of the Han mod has been solved since. I fail to see why it's suddenly good enough to be included right now. Again, I'd love to see the Han included in game, if possible in A25, and no, not everything has to be perfect. Nevertheless, the most glaring flaws should be addressed first.

  30. To be entirely honest I think those anachronisms are not a very big problem. First of all we must know that Han army was not very uniform because it has absorbed many other cultures, so it is perfectly acceptable to have a few odd features. The building style from later dynasties are not exactly destroying the authenticity of the civ. Most importantly, the majority of players won't care that much about such minor details in the heat of a battle / competitive match. Being able to distinguish units apart is more important. About no distinctive colours... we could make each unit hold a flag representing the player colour? The Han army did love their flags.

  31. They weren't included in A24 for various reasons but I think it's time for A25 even if they are not 100% perfect. There will be more incentive to make them better if they are in the game than if they aren't It might attract artists that are into asian civilizations. It might also attract historian interested in such civs. There is no way it will be ever be balanced properly as a mod. It's cool civ, it's long due. I worked a lot on it too and so did a lot of people. It also breaks the thirteen number of civs :p

  32. Personally, I am in favor to include them at some point.

  33. The stoa was generally used for commercial activities, something that Spartans were known to disdain. Furthermore, doing a quick search for all examples of stoas on Wikipedia lists no Spartan one (That's not definitive of course, and anyone can list a case of a Spartan Stoa, I would appreciate it..).

  34. Indeed. I wonder if the complaints about the worker eles are off base, as you indicate. The "real solution" may be a slight nerf of archers and adding in some new unique benefits for other civs.
    1 point
  35. I don't think this premise is right. If Mauryans are currently too OP (which I don't agree with--they are one of several good civs right now), Mauryans are good because (1) they have the best unit in the game right now (archers); (2) they have a higher pop cap than most civs; and (3) they have 75w houses. I've played a lot of games and I have seen resources "stolen" in very few games and in none of these games has actually changed the outcome. The fact that very few players actually make worker eles indicates that the unit isn't OP at all. The most immediate benefit (and arguably the most important too) of the ele is that you are able to start collecting res away from a CC without spending the initial 100 wood. Very few players ever make a worker ele and instead just rely on the initial ele plus storehouses that they build. So doing this would be a major nerf. @nani is right--we should make other civs better with their own unique features rather than eliminating the fun unique features that currently exist.

I and Robin are willing to offer any lingual / translation assistance where needed, although most Chinese teenagers are able to understand basic English.

  38. If we can overcome the language barrier, then, with some appropriate advertising, we can get a huge player base in China as Chinese gamers would love a game that does not force them to pay real money in some way. The Han Chinese civ definitely would attract them, but, it would be difficult to balance though because currently the Han is OP. Even without Han Chinese the game would still prove attractive to potential players. AoE is quite prominent in China at this point, although the most popular games are CSGO, LOL, PUBG and Genshin Impact. I must also point out that the majority of Chinese gamers play on their phone instead of a gaming pc. If an Android version of 0AD can be released then that would be quite popular.

  39. Lion Kanzen about Han Chinese: People in Mainland China definitely have access to 0AD if they want it; it is not banned . In fact my friend Robin posts 0AD videos on Bilibili (Chinese equivalent of Youtube) here: https://search.bilibili.com/all?keyword=0AD&from_source=webtop_search&spm_id_from=333.909 . I am glad to say that he is not the only Chinese 0AD player, if you scroll down this page you find other Chinese people who uploads 0AD videos. However, 0AD is still not very well known in China yet, not because of censorship but because it comes in English by default so many players cannot understand it. The Linux users in China are not really gamers and gamers are too immersed in Tencent games... There is a Chinese 0AD discord group and CAGD_lulofun is the 'leader' of that discord: https://discord.gg/VJ97mUv4 I did spot a few Chinese players in the lobby today (clearly identifiable by their names). There are more Chinese players who fight the AI all the time because they have long pings in lobby games due to long geographical distance. However, in most cases the ping can be under 280ms. Sometimes they are deterred by language barrier. The Chinese government would not ban a such a fun open source game just because an opium war broke out more than a century ago... the types of game they ban are ones that contain adult content or promote extremist views. 0AD is quite healthy for any standards.
