Hi, i was just playing this game, and I was a Age of Empires II player, one thing is cool and good to have is a banner (large enough in the middle of the game screen), that shows "Defeated" or "Won" while the game ended, instead of little text indicates who won or lose. I love this game so much, the graphic performance is crazy good, and the good game play. And It even take 2s to open the game on Mac.3 points

I can't take that much hate XD. iber players get used to walls so it does not slow them down.1 point

@user1, I'd also like to report user pangea. He quit a 1v1 rated game without resigning as I was winning. I'm (still) user e.v. Thanks! commands.txt metadata.json1 point

Should be fixed in the newest svn: https://code.wildfiregames.com/rP266511 point

The issue is, metal was scarce in A24 and the eco was slow -> mass champions was unaffordable -> few fire cav made. 5 fire cavs is not OP, it only becomes OP with numbers, 40 fire cav is enough to beat a full Ptol army, 120 is enough for 1v4. It's pointless to talk about A24 because the mechanics were completely differerent, not just stats. Indeed. Another thing you need to consider is: Britons have weaker defences - more vulnerable to rush -> less easy to get to P3 and gather enough resources for champion spam. In terms of attack, there are 2 differences between chariots and fire cav: 1. Lack of fire damages means they are only effective against units but not structures 2. The chariots are bigger -> steric hindurance -> less stacking efficiency -> more time wasted on pathfinding, getting stuck etc and less time fighting. The Briton chariots are very OP if the player does decide to use them, however, most Britons players don't or never get to a point where they can afford many of it. About the walls, they are just an annoyance to both the Iber player and any enemies especially in late game. Allied units often get stuck in the walls as well! In one game, my Iberian teammate died because his walls trapped my huge Ptolemies army inside and he refused to delete the walls. Berries and deers often spawn inside walls or gates and that will confuse the hell out of your units. Furthermore, Iberian structures look like slums... already favela without losing connection1 point

The replay is now unfortunately not really minimal. I've been trying to reproduce the bug where idle soldiers are not shown as idle all the time and it happened only at the the very end, at like minute 49. In the southeast there is a military colony which my formation has captured and little bit later its soldiers get stuck and if you go to my perspective and check for idle units you will see that they are not listed. Around minute 2 i make a small formation which I place somewhere, and if you go to my perspective and select idle units you will have suddenly selected a battaillon even though battaillons are deactivated (do that in your settings). Everything in between is unfortunately irrelevant. Furthermore I discovered another bug which is probably easily reproducable: - put 4 starting infantry into a box formation. - let them cut wood at a normal tree - execute with them an attack move (only attacking units, which is ctrl+q+rightclick by default on the ground somewhere) - they will not move at all and you get an error message formationBugs.zip1 point

I liked firecav in a24. It was not as easy as it is now since you had to trade to get them and also navigate a sea of fortresses and towers with overlapping ranges, as well as being blocked by enemy units. Back and forth would go on for 20-30 minutes without a real attack, then ddos XD.1 point

this new function at 1:28 could be used to animate the destruction of the structures?1 point

I think it could be nice as an option. @Langbart I don't think it's really hard to code? Just a guinterface call to show something at the end of the match right? @Lion.Kanzen We probably need some concepts and ideas. Sadly we can't have any kind of animation as the engine doesn't support it as far as I'm aware @vladislavbelov1 point

People rarely complain about chariots because Britons do not have Indibil to get cheap chariot. If not many people use chariots, there won't be many people to complain about them neither. Many complained about civilization loosing uniqueness in a24. Balancing firecavs to make them more like chariots is indeed a nerf but not something that will necessarily fix complaints. I would prefer having fire/poison damages used to get some unique gameplay than having them used as a "bonus" for champions (and for me, a23 firecavs concept was more interesting than the current one anyway). For future reference, you can already put me on the list of people complaining about it next alpha, just in case I forget to do it explicitly.1 point

Correct. The game calls this feature a "turret" in the code. A template propped to another template.1 point

What if the woman and spartan go in at the same time? Maybe just keep track of your units and beware of the value/cost of entering the walls if you sneak in. I have never seen anyone get this heated about iber walls. In my opinion, the only OP thing about iber walls is that you can keep all your farms inside there and you are safe from raiding in late game which happens in about 80% of TGs. If cav become less survivable in a26, then this will be less important. Firecav need nerf, we already know. I have played some iberians with firecav banned and I can say it is great fun. + I love trapping people in walls and it 1000% is a good mechanic.1 point

the walls are not OP. I don't see why the game should be changed because you made a mistake. Now you know to keep control of ur army. I think if a change had to be made, it would be allowing units that invaded the gate able to leave even if its locked (you could just unlock them). But this would require giving gates a direction, which IMO overcomplicates walls.1 point

Unless it's a death trap? I had a few unpleasant experiences with units being trapped, that taught me to either stay out or make sure to move my whole army in to capture the CC; I'm wondering why you didn't do that. I think it would be a bit of a shame to remove the walls as they are unique to this civ, and since I sometimes exploit having a stupid villager opening the gates for me I'm also not really convinced of your second proposition either.1 point

What about we give spear cav near infinite accelereation and a smaller value for ranged units? That way we can nerf camel rush.1 point

The big thing people seem to be curious about is unit acceleration and the ability for cavalry to escape bad situations. I watched on the SVN version in slow motion and compared speed of an infantry javelineer against the speed of cavalry javelineer. I would assume that the most important factor in this situation is the time cavalry needs to accelarate to a speed such that it is faster than infantry. Only during the first step the infantry javelineer seems a tiny little bit faster. So that seems not very impactful. What does seem impactful is the following: I ran away with a cavalry archer from a chasing spear cavalry. Everytime the spear cavalry attacks, it needs to stop. In A25 that because of this stopping, after the attack finishes and the spear cavalry starts moving, the cavalry archer is about one length of a horse ahead of the spear cavalry. In A25 the spear cavalry needs to accelerate after each stop/attack, the length of the gap will get more than twice as long. Basically chasing and killing cavalry with other cavalry becomes nearly impossible even if your cavalry is faster. If we consider it a problem, a solution would be to reduce the stopping time such that it is close to 0.1 point

Now we are in A25 and the A25 version can be downloaded here: https://github.com/Yekaterina999/millenniumad1 point

Personally not a fan of the acceleration, nor was I a fan of the rotation times. It simply makes the unit movement feel and look clunky. I'd much rather the AoE4 approach of homing projectiles to eliminate dancing, but retain smooth movement.1 point

I'd like to remind that it would be really helpful if matches could be loaded. That would decrease the damage of the "ddosing" already a lot. The savegame could easily be extracted from the replay.1 point

@Trinketos and I launched the American Ancient Empires https://www.moddb.com/mods/pre-colonial-mod mod a few days ago in the MODB. It's already playable for Alpha 25, lacking a bit of polish, but nothing to avoid the fun, something that in my honest opinion is the goal of a mod. I created a group for mods there too, whoever wants to contribute just ask me to accept it there. https://www.moddb.com/mods/pre-colonial-mod.1 point

To be honest @Stockfish your website might look good graphically but it is not dynamic, not visible who registered, who joined to tournament at specific date (it looks you are editing it manually) and there is 0 interaction between (no chat - just to support).. People won't join because there is 0 transparency0 points
