The promotion issue could somewhat easily be solved by not allowing units to attack invincible units (that would also solve the catafalc arrow absorber). The dancing problem is much more complicated, since "homing missiles" or "splash" aren't ideal solutions either. I once tried implementing "turning times" for units, but that resulted in total chaos when moving large groups of units.2 points

Is there a boat or dock planned I can't see one? If not might I suggest a Ferry. This is built on the water edge like a dock and when finished launched with the pack button. It "despawns" the dock. It should have a limited attack, small carrying capacity 6-8 and is not for fishing. Strictly about getting across the water. Even steppes have rivers. This stops the player or the AI getting very stuck on some of the islands maps.2 points

OK looking back at this its clear that most of the work I suggested now been done in the Xiongnu and Kush mods. Very nice. I'll see what models I can make for hunting variants and some modelling for moving out into the wider world. Maybe a few animals for practice. What's needed in animals? I read llama, turkey, some where. Half tempted to do a Capybara for fun. South American hunt/ decoration fauna. Bison/ Wisent is probably needed. For steppe tribes. And Amerindians if we ever try that. Kangaroos and wombats because I'm an Aussy. Diprotodon because I'm a weird aussy. Yes its extinct but we do have a dragon I noticed. One of the elephants in the game are almost extinct.2 points

I don't see this as so much a big issue for balance, since all players have this equally. The dancing is way more problematic.2 points

A patrol distance threshold would be a fix for the auto dance indeed, but that doesn't solve the handdance. Te hard thing for a spam block script, is defining "spam", eg. if one want a unit to walk along a circle between two points, I wouldn't consider that spam, but a spam script probably will mark it as such. Maybe a solution would be a "minimal time for walk", so that units will walk very slowly on short orders, thus giving the arrows enough time to hit. One gotta think about the implications of that though...1 point

The recent black powder demo combined with this foliage would work well for the start of an AoE3 / age of discovery mod.1 point

Yeah, I'm sure everyone involved would appreciate a better preview image. Not sure if that's possible or not.1 point

@Wesley “Dr” Clyde Winters is a fraudulent piece of garbage. Black Supremacist trash. Worthless scum… He has no academic expertise in ancient languages whatsoever. Some of his writings include: The Ancient Celts and Vikings were Black People The Sumerians were Black The Black Greeks The Blacks of China's First Civilization: The Xia Ancient African Kings of India African Empires in Ancient America (2013) The Ancient Black Civilizations of Asia (2013) Atlantis in Mexico: The Mande Discovery of America (2013) Meroitic Writing and Literature (2013) He also claims that the ancient inhabitants of Atlantis, as well as King James I of England were black... In addition to Meroitic, he also claims to have deciphered: Indus (Harappan) script Sumerian Olmec script Clyde Winters is a lier and a fraud. Nothing he writes is peer reviewed. The precursors of the Meroitic language have been spoken for thousands of years before Buddhism even existed. It's mostly Nilo-Saharan, evolving out of Proto-Nilo-Saharan with Afro Asiatic influences, and has nothing to do with Gandhara… If you want to learn about Meroitic, I suggest looking up the works of Dr. Claude Rilly, "Doctor in Egyptology and linguistics, and director of the French archaeological mission of Sedeinga (SEDAU), Co-editor of the Meroitic Newsletters, Member of the board of the International Society for Nubian Studies and of the Sudan Archaeological Research Society, he is also research fellow at the CNRS" https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/the-meroitic-language-and-writing-system/D1534C93DCCA955D82E0594CE92598FC Clyde Winters on the other hand is a major source of misinformation. A very toxic individual. A disrupter. One of many ugly stains on the internet. He makes a living out of duping gullible people of African decent. I have come across his garbage on numerous occasions, and I shudder every time. Basically I hate him… This website is dedicated to debunking individuals like him: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Clyde_Winters1 point

As wow says, It's the same for everyone, so it doesn't affect gameplay. Anyway, if ranged units spread fire, this would be even less of a thing to think about.1 point

OK so this makes anything I do boring and sane by comparison. Whew. Stone age civ's with ride-able diprotodon coming up. In a year or three. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diprotodon#/media/File:Diprotodon_optatum.jpg For those that don't know it is a giant extinct relative of the wombat and the koala. One got chased down a hole, the other up a tree and the rest died out.1 point

I agree that dancing/luring/patrolling against big armies is a problem. I do blame high level players for doing it. I do not consider this to be fair-play and if it was to become a standard practice, the game would become pointless for me. I guess many players agree with the idea of having hero-trainable once only, I do not see any reason to be strictly against it. However there might be some adjustments to be done accordingly (aura range, hp, balance between civ with 3 good hero and those with only 1...). It could be used to address other issues too, weaker hero with larger aura could reduce dancing issues for example. The idea seems interesting, however I wonder about the implications that it might have on the other parts of the game. Would it make melee units run around too much or what would be the implications for fights between small groups of units ...1 point

Well, to be fair, it would probably have sounded a lot better in French. I actually thought it was an interesting insight into some of the bottlenecks, that non-programmers like myself have difficulty understanding. Thanks @vladislavbelov. By the way, I never saw this video from Capitole du Libre before... Of course I liked the part where you talk about Kush I liked @stanislas69 part as well. Awkward video thumbnail...1 point

Dance really breaks the game. Another thing that is frustrating is the animation when the unit promotes its rank, unit stays invincible for a few seconds, and this is totally broken, I fixed this in my mod, and it should be the same for a21.1 point

Here you go: Consonants: β, π, φ, ψ are pronounced b, p, pʰ, ps γ, κ, χ, ξ are pronounced g, k, kʰ, ks, exception: γ before {γ, κ, χ, ξ, μ, ν} is ŋ δ, τ, θ, ζ are pronounced d, t, tʰ, dz/zd (ζ is debated, there are decent arguments for and against both options) σ/ς is s λ, μ, ν, ρ are l, m, n, rʰ Vowels, monophthongs, and diphthongs: α, αι, ᾳ, αυ are a/aː, ai̯, aːi̯, au̯/aːu̯ (yes, αι and ᾳ are different) ε, ει are e, eː η, ῃ, ηυ are ɛː, ɛːi̯, ɛːu̯ ι is i or iː ο, ου, οι are o, oː, oi̯ υ, υι are y/yː, yi̯ ω, ῳ are ɔː, ɔːi̯ Basically, α, ι and υ can be long or short (dictionaries distinguish between ᾱ, ῑ, ῡ and ᾰ, ῐ, ῠ, text editions don't), ε and ο are always short (ει and ου are their long counterparts), η and ω are always long (no short equivalents). Word-initial vowels: ἀ (lenis): no aspiration ἁ (asper): aspiration, i.e. h+vowel Accentuation: ά (acute): rising tone ᾶ (circumflex): rising then falling tone ὰ (grave): falling tone1 point

Would have been nice to get more in depth with code examples, preferably ugly code Also nice picture of computer graphics, such as your lightning gif Would have made the presentation more captivating. I'm glad you took part of it though, it's a big leap of faith.1 point

That's definitely in the works... But the point of the first post is that anybody can easily read a complete rundown of Kushite history (fully illustrated), online. So that all this stuff can finally be disclosed to the broader public, because a lot of it actually comes from pdf's and books, which aren't indexed by google, making it seem as if their content doesn't exist on the internet. What's the point of uploading a pdf if it's content can't even be googled... A lot of the juicy stuff was always "hiding" in these difficult to navigate libraries that only experts in the field read. I want to change that The plebs deserve to know about Kush! There are several hundred images in that post now (often grouped in a single large image containing 2, 3 or 4 separate images, to save space). It's already a careful selection from thousands of images, and I would preferably add another 10-ish images, but I can't add any more without totally loosing the ability to add or correct the text itself. It almost seems as if single posts in this forum weren't intended to write illustrated books...1 point

@Sundiata Regarding drawing of pictures, did you look at Krita? It is a free and open source tool for drawing artists. I am not an artist, but I think it is very helpful. In addition, it is always nice to see if people are able to produce content for open source projects with free and open source tools.1 point

@Lion.Kanzen My/our goal is to help artists, modelers and developers by providing documentation for buildings, units and the look and feel of the Kushites. That is the whole purpose of the specification document: https://github.com/Jeeppler/kushites_mod/blob/master/docs/build/specification.pdf. However, I have no idea how you model units. I don't know how you model them and if you need to know the body measures? So, please give me some insight. Remember, I am a developer (programmer).1 point

I used to have a very nice book on military architecture, from what I recall Egyptian fortresses generally had evidence being the recipients of massive sapping attacks given the mud brick did not hold up too well against hand tools and determined attackers, i forget the details but i think i remember one of which nearly had an entire wall torn down by hand1 point
