  1. @Lopess, had just made a few corrections for my previous reply above. Tubute should be "Tabute" because the latter attested in Man'yo, former is 10th century and could be a sound shift from latter. Forgot to add a "p" in "Mësikakapë" Some as just as elusive; can think of differing names for wall-turret, light warship, and battering ram. What else needs translation/correction?
  2. After seeing the Github mod page and @Lion.Kanzen's Yayoi video I'm beginning to see some inconsistencies with the specific names. Time for a rewrite! Classic Japanese Tsukai typically translates to "messenger", so it's preferred to use -möti ("-holder, -wielder") instead Axeman: Onoduki → Wonomöti Spearman: Pokötuki → Pokömöti Female citizen: Josei (Sino-Japanese, NGです) → Womina ("young woman", as opposed to Omina "old woman") or simply Me ("female") Slinger: Isinagë → Tabutenagë ("throwing stone-thrower") Archer: Ite → Yumitöri ("bow-taker", first attestation in 8th century Hizen Fudoki, Ite is 10th century) Korean horsearcher: → Umanöri Mësikakapë ("horse-riding mercenary", verb meshi-kakaeru first attested in 17th century but both components separately are in OJP literature) Champions Axeman: → (Wono nö) Tupamönö Swordsman: → (Turuki nö) Tupamönö There are actually a few more words that mean "sword", depending on the description: Turuki or Turugi is straight and usually double-edged, Tati long and curved, and there's Sapi Naval Fishing boat: → Turibune Merchant ship: → Akinapibune ("trading boat") or Wobune ("small boat") Light warship: → Opobune ("large boat"), Yakata ("roofed boat"), Wobune ("small boat", as above) or simply Pune (how to define smaller/larger boats?) Farmstead: Kömëgura ("rice granary") Field: decide between Ta ("rice paddy"), No, Nopara, or stick with current Nora (all three mean "field" in general and are attested in OJP literature) Since Ba ("place") is first attested in 13th century, older Nipa ("place, field, garden") could be plausible Barracks: Sikömiba → Sikömi nö Nipa ("training field/place") Archery Range: Sikömiba → Ikusa nö Nipa ("soldiers' field/place") Forge: Kanutiba → Kanutiya (compare modern Kajiya) Outpost: → Mipari (noun late-19th century, verb miharu 9th century) Market: → Iti (first attested in Kojiki) Shrine can use Yasirö while Temple should be changed to Miya. Wall: → Kaki Gate: → Kado Turret: → Kakizumi ("wall-corner") or just Sumi ("corner"), didn't want to repeat the defensive tower nameYagura Arsenal: →Takumiya ("artisan's shop") or Tukuriya ("construction shop") Battering ram: Tukikömimönö ("smashing-object"), Pasira ("pillar"), or, if no other placeholder, Pa-zyau-tui (Hajōtsui) Ainu Village: → Kotan Wonder: Issei Temple → Ituki nö Miya, the generic name parameter can be "Ise Shrine" or for posterity "Ise Grand Shrine"; what's with the "Issei" autocorrect?
  3. Whose idea was to add these "naked fanatics" actor to these citizen soldiers back then, by any chance? My suggestion used to be a 1/10 (or less like 1/13) chance of being a naked fanatic for elite/champion infantry melee for consistency. Or maybe the illustrations were a bit exaggerated, I suppose...
  4. For some reason, this video became unlisted recently. Something to hide? Still be found on their "Nomadic Cultures" playlist though.
  5. In a related issue: @Langbart, how do you define "not outdated"? I am currently in the process of putting all the civilization database (those with Civ: prefix) back to current alpha standards. Starting with the Athenians, of course.
  6. Will this be patched in a future changeset? For beginners, since laymen don't know how to utilize the .pyromod extension.
  7. Promising wonder. The smaller temple like structures may not be necessary though; the big one temple, platform, and stairs are enough. Also, if Pagondas be the fourth hero, the Sacred Band hoplite ought to be replaced with a Thespian, "epilektos"-like, or city guard hoplite. Inspiration from Victrix miniatures: If Cassander be fifth, the citizen and champion hoplites (as well as the Thespian) should be generic hypaspists and agema. These may not look like Sacred Band hoplites, but it can be a good start for the Thespian replacement (substitute helmets with Hellenistic-era ones?):
  8. Finally, they understood. Still, the advanced and elite Macedonian pikemen, elite Iberian spearmen, and Samnite spearmen continue to be one-greavers as of alpha 26. Anyone willing? The latter can be like the gladiators, some may wear only one or both.
  9. In previous alphas, there used to be a mercenary Thracian swordsman, but the building that produces it got removed. I am for the epibates/marines to be citizen infantry swordsmen instead, and fast ones too. For now. If a dedicated turret system is in place for these bad boys. with the Petra AI should be allowed to arbitrarily add/remove troops to/from them, the primary attack changes to the scythes as intended. We need more hero actors, especially for scenarios. Generic ones for regicide/herocide too. We don't even have one for the legendary Julius Caesar and Mark Antony! among others. It appears that you are using a translator to reply to this thread. Especially the "fat" and "we", some of these make no sense to me, though.
  10. Some of the Roman soldiers, namely the elite hastati/principes, advanced/elite triarii, extraordinarii, Atlas-only infantry heroes, murmillones, and Marian legionnaires/centurions assuming testudo have clipping issues with their crested/plumed helmets and scuta for the testudo_top. Triarii have the same for spears for testudo_front_left and anti_cavalry_front; anti_cavalry_back has them suffer the same with their left hands. Han spearmen, despite being overlooked after commit freeze, seems to have no problem because of the hand-handle inconsistency. How about this for consistency: the elite mercenary Gallic infantry swordsmen for both Carthage and Egypt can have a 1/10 (or less, like 1/13) chance the same thing. Of course, without affecting the armor statistics. To make matters worse, the White Horse Temple was built after 1 BC, off the timeframe of this game. Can be a potential part 2 prop though.
  11. What just happened to @Alexandermb's OP light lithobolos? The TLDR is that the projectile is unrealistically large! and appears to be used as some sort of temporary glove. Also, the right engineer is picking up an imaginary projectile: lithobolos_light.mp4 lithobolos_lightt.mp4 On a lighter note (get it?), the stones for the heavy ballista and lithobolos appear out of nowhere instead of being transported by the forward men: lithobolos_heavy.mp4 ballista_heavy.mp4
  12. Let me guess, not much English speakers attending? Two crepes, butter and chocolate croissants, and a madeleine. That Wobbuffet seems sad or puzzled while doing his salute. Personal tablecloths?
  13. To begin, the Structure Tree only has the Athenian faction the complete phase techs with Specific Names on both the left rows, list, and Information dialogue box: athens.mp4 The rest only has the Specific Names on the latter: macedon.mp4 hanchao.mp4 Back to the topic, what are your thoughts for the names of the Village, Town, and City phases for the factions that yet to have specific names for each? Including "Village Phase" as for consistency on the left-row tooltips. For the ancient Greek stone production boosts, how about "Thêtes" for the Serfs upgrade? Would want to know what is the context for "Therápontes", too. "Andrápoda" should be translated as "War Captives", not just slaves in general. Examples?
  14. Rather than going back to letter A, suggesting that the name for the next alpha should reflect the features being added/changed? Like this present one, of course. True, the Briton heroes being the ones that flourished after 1 BC is an example. Those three should be put as Atlas-only entities, replaced with those consistent with the timeframe.
  15. More like an "Elé-hexadecapede". In other news, here's an Athenian phalanx for my new profile banner(s): What is interesting is that every member in the formation wears a bronze cuirass, filtering out the others with the linothorax.
  16. As of latest Alpha 26 release, as before in my last reply; and weirdly enough, the pikemen (ji bing) can only assume the anti-cavalry idle pose holding their ji with one hand instead of the intended syntagma per [27079]: 0 A.D. 2022-09-24 08-57-42.mp4
  17. Been noticing that there has been less activity for the history department, correct me if I'm wrong... so I would like to join the contribution on filling the jigsaw pieces especially the generic (or foreign/literal) and specific names of entities. You've seen me on the forums suggesting the names of city and town phases for a few non-Hellenistic factions, i.e. the Han and Mauryas. Already seeing an inconsistency on a few names of technologies like that "Iphicratean Reforms" one, "Delian Marines" seems better rename. Does anyone know where I can start? Already began to collect PDFs, dictionaries, etc. to aid in this endeavor. Thank you!
  18. Similar to what @Gurken Khanreplied on the Corinthian Isthmus misspelling, the video timestamp 2:43 has the "Chang Jiang" (Yangtze) map titled as "Chin Jiang". Noticed this days before you posted this.
  19. Please be careful whoever sorted the trailer playlist, the Alpha 25 one is the second-bottommost rather than the top as with the others in ascending order. Typographical errors on the latest is noticeable, such as that of the "Long River" in Chinese.
  20. Much I can give you based on what is terribly needed in this area. It's high time that there should be icons for unlocking chariots too, amongst other things. For the former, at least 4 can be worked out; one for (Achaemenid) Persians, one for the Mauryas, another for the Diadochi-era factions (particularly the Seleucids), and the last for Britons. Maybe another for the Han, in case of mods or if unit moved to stable in the future. These can share a common pose, and the same can be done too for the unlocking champion infantry, cavalry, and others too. Any thoughts for the Mauryan palace and faction-exclusive temples?
  21. How about compatibility for Apple devices with M1 chips? Would be great for doing tests on my MacBook Pro.
  22. Here is the .pdf article for possible Sanskrit translations of "town" and "city". If too long didn't read, they are "Nagara" and "Pura", respectively. Were it being Prakrit, the former's rendition would have been "Naara". If you want "village" for reference, it is "Grāma" (Prakrit "Gāma"). One of the next steps for improvement in the next working alpha (27), after release of 26 in a few days/weeks, is the enrichment of the specific and generic names. To begin, the Great Stupa can be "Mahāstūpa", whereas the former moved to generic parameter.
  23. Pardon the necropost, but please remind us of either which language is currently used for the Specific Name parameter of this faction: is it Sanskrit, Prakrit, or a mix of both? This decides the names for the town and city phases, among others. Potential replacement for the maiden guard swordsmen? Most of them already in the core game; the rest, especially the lancer and the two tribesmen, can be Atlas-only units, or better still, trained from captured barracks, stables, and embassies. Not to mention if the texture maps can be improved or new ones made. All of these after the 26th alpha is released, of course.
  24. More oversight for the Han; this is before @wowgetoffyourcellphone added syntagma formation for the ji bing: 0 A.D. 2022-09-13 01-04-37.mp4 In short, the same goes for the mao bing (spearmen) and palace guards, former cannot assume the supposedly Roman anti-cavalry and latter (along with Atlas-only dismounted Han Xin) unable to do the same. Is the latter case intended? Standards used are for the wrong civilization emblems too, in tandem with the incorrect formation animations. Also, the Han sandbox starts with the imperial court building rather than the gongdian, which is the usual civic center. Clicking the court building initially shows outright the grayed out jun (III or city phase) upgrade. Unless you build the actual civic center somewhere to do the xian (II or town phase) upgrade, you can't with the chaoting per se. Further, the mao bing also have a weird animation when carrying wood, walking if still wielding the spear: 1995604007_0A.D.2022-09-1301-46-54.mp4
