  1. Eventually it could be an idea to, if not add to the game install itself, at least have one or a few mods as semi-official mods. At this point I think it is important to make sure that we have a process where every mod is easy to find, easy to download and easy to install. We can never include all mods so it's worth making sure we have a solution that works for all mods. I also think that it is hard for us to do everything right, so personally I suggest that we encourage people to use sites like Nexusmods.com or MODDB. They already have both the server infrastructure and the "social infrastructure" to be able to make it work well. By "social infrastructure" I mean things like comments etc which makes it easy for people to find out which mods are good. Especially Nexusmods.com which have several ways to find which mods are good. Lists of popular mods, most downloaded mods, most endorsed mods (basically a "plus one" or "like"), in addition to comments. One of the biggest pros, but somewhat of a con as well, is that each game gets its own sub-site. Whichis good for finding the mods, but it makes the game less visible. Mod makers can of course use several different ways to make their mods available. It might be a good idea for us to host a mod list where mods can be found regardless of where the mods can be downloaded from. Maybe with a simple up/down vote system to make it easier to find popular mods.
  2. I am at work at the moment, so I don't have time to check it up, but has anything more been made known of that tomb they found in Macedonia last year? It might be an option if it turns out to be related to this time period and can be displayed in a nice way.
  3. Or you could just restrict which maps are shown based on the selected victory condition, and/or vise versa? It's probably better the more flexible things are though, so the more maps that can support the more victory conditions the better.

    public.zip?

Are you on Windows? And if so, how much free space do you have on the C:\ drive?
  5. Is that updated within the last ten hours or so?
  6. There are certainly ways to improve siege in 0 A.D. but the thing to remember is that it will always be a simplified version. In other words, destroying a wall can symbolise the entire process of killing the defenders, getting onto it and even demolishing it after the war if it serves no purpose. Ithank can certainly be a lot more direct than that, but my point is that anything that makes things less abstract should be motivated primarily from a game play perspective.
  7. There was an error with the autobuild system, so it could not compile the game. Now it is fixed though, so now it should work again. Please update and try again.
  8. His album is actually out now, so anyone who wants to give it a listen can do so over at: http://omrilahav.bandcamp.com/ Well worth a listen if you ask me, though don't expect it to be the same as the game music
  9. Hopefully they will It will most likely be a while before there is any new music made for the game though. Omri is busy with finishing up his personal album and moving to the U.S.
  10. We should not use Malus in places where players can see it, regardless of whether or not it can be justified from a Latin point of view. The main reason is that almost no one knows that word. If it's used in code comments etc is another thing, but again, it depends on whether or not the people reading it understand the meaning.
  11. Merged them The forum does combine posts which are made within one minute, but not any longer than that (there are some cases where one might want to make different posts in the same topic right after one another, and after a certain while it's better to have a new post anyway as edits to existing posts don't mark the thread as unread, just new posts, so there's a risk that combined posts would get missed).
  12. You can use the shift-key to queue up the gather commands, then the unit should drop off the gathered resource before moving on to the next.

    Important?

I haven't had time to test it properly, but in a quick test it works for me, so I would be grateful for more information to help solve the issue. Were you logged in? Have you tried clicking the link in a different sub-forum?
  14. Should something like the theme from Doctor who be more relevant? Nice work regardless
  15. Split into its own topic as per Lion's suggestion.
  16. We can certainly communicate it better, but we have already made the decision to not include more factions. There is however plenty of room for mods that adds new factions and there could be some kind of "expansion" that adds more as well. Keep in mind that the first release will focus on the period between 500 B.C. to 1 B.C. so for factions which are meant to be played with the first release they should also focus on these years. If there is no perfect wonder within these years it works to use an older one that would still be standing.
  17. Well, we need to draw the line somewhere, and while I personally think we might have been able to make a more enjoyable game with fewer civilizations than the ones we have I certainly don't think it's worth adding more. Could there have been different choices made? Sure, but at some point you have to stick to the decisions that have been made, even if you might have made a different decision at some other point. And we certainly can't make everyone happy, so changing something just because someone thinks we should is not really a good way forward. Then we'd most likely have a hundred factions or so Could we hypothetically add one more faction? Maybe, but how could we be fair about which one to add? You might argue for Thracians, but there are others who argue just as passionately for everything from splitting the Iberians, or adding a bunch of additional Hellenistic factions to adding Slavs or Numidians or others. The only way to be fair is to make a decision and stick to it.
  18. Is there ever a reason to use words to describe it anyway though? Wouldn't it make sense to use a minus sign in at least most of the cases?
  19. Isn't that an advantage of that approach though? I.e. you have a chance to actually affect how easy it is to capture a building by taking down the defenders. Forcing you to think about whether your units are making the bigger difference capturing or taking out the defenders. Not sure what you are trying to say here Seems to be a lot missing from that sentence Scaling units should be possible I assume? Maybe it might be difficult to scale them without ruining the animations, but hopefully they should scale with them?
  20. Something to keep in mind when editing tickets I guess though
  21. Would you be up for creating a tutorial for those who are familiar with other similar games? I.e. for people who have played Age of Empires/Empire Earth/Rise of Nations/etc, and just need a quick intro to which things are similar and which things are different? Basic tutorials are probably nice to have in a more long-term perspective, but I think a quick intro for that demographic would be nice to have (+ as has been said the gameplay will still change a bit before the game is finished so it's probably not worth having you spend too much time on in-depth tutorials which will need to be redone in the end anyway, having to redo/edit a smaller video should be less wasteful with your time).
  22. I've had the thought recently that it would be nice to have something going up on our Youtube channel in between releases, so I'm certainly liking the idea. It would be good to know what you are capable of, and how good you are at accepting constructive criticism etc, before making you any kind of "official Youtuber" for 0 A.D. though. A test tutorial would be nice, do you have a suggestion for a topic or would you like some suggestions?
  23. To delete/move actors, press the Alt key and then select etc as usual.
  24. We are always happy to improve things in the game, so if you have suggestions for how to improve individual lines, please offer them. As someone has at some point thought that the current lines were at least "good enough", please offer some kind of proof/source as to why your suggestions are better. You might be an expert at classical Greek for all we know, but the opposite could also be true, so we need some kind of proof before we can change things.
  25. In other words: if you are a translator, make sure the name displayed at Transifex is how you want to be listed in the credits
