  1. No, I think @Rolf Dew's first suggestion for Athenians is spot on. While "Norse" is a generic faction, "Athenians" is very specific, unlike "Greeks" from the original AOM. For the Athenians, Athena was their patron deity which makes her a prime choice for a Major God. Poseidon gives you a good track for naval benefits, which plays to the Athenian naval tradition (and he was also a part of the Athens founding myth). And Dionysus was the subject of a very important civic festival and cult, but Demeter could be another good choice for the 3rd Major God, because of the cult of the Eleusinian Mysteries being extremely important as well. The Eponymous Heroes could be an interesting choice for an Athenian-centric Minor God choice or God Power (summon a bunch of hero units to a specific spot). The Panathenaic Festival being another interesting idea for a God Power. These things can differentiate them from the Spartans who, although had the same religion per se, worshiped different gods in the pantheon in different ways.
  2. I guess what I'm saying is, yes, it is bugged with SVN. No units show up in Atlas due to the removal of template_entity_full and template_entity_quasi from the core game. I'll just check it out in A23b for now.
  3. Is this bugged with SVN? Recent template changes in core game removing template_entity_full and template_entity_quasi.
  4. For the Ptolemies we could use a mix of Egyptian and Hellenistic mythology. Serapis, Isis and ??? could be the Major Gods. The story line could be semi-historical. So, imagine the Greco-Persian Wars, Punic Wars, or Syrian Wars with god powers and myth monsters.
  5. The game should really rename the classes of ship to light, medium, and heavy, instead of bireme, trireme, and quinquireme, which are specifically Roman terms.
  6. Maybe use the ones from the original AOM: Greeks, Egyptians, Norse for this demo, since the "design" is already there. Would we want to use all of the 0 A.D. factions, or make "generic" cultural factions like the original AOM? It would be fun to use the 0 A.D. specific factions (Athenians, Spartans, etc.) because the different cultural aspects can be explored in more detail.
  7. Not sure if that's necessary if all it's for is to determine what helmets to put with which actors.
  8. So what? Instead of 170 rowers the ship has 50. Still cool.
  9. So, instead of making the counters simpler and more "intuitive" they were removed almost completely...
  10. For Siege Workshop, would "Synergeion Poliorkias" work? "Stablos Elefanta" wouldn't work for Elephant Stables, or is that too literal or out of time frame? "Toxobolia" no bueno for the Range?
  11. I think name and label are unintuitive and have non-obvious restrictions.
  12. I don't think the UI needs much radical change from the current one in order to accommodate battalions. But that's just my opinion.
  13. So, to assign these to the unit actors, I think each helmet should be listed and their provenance detailed, then they can be assigned accordingly. KnowwhatImean (unless there is already a thread like this that I missed)? Kind of like this: celt_helmet_agris: Western France, 350 BC. I suggest for the Gallic hero Brennus. His current Waterloo helmet should probably go to a Britons hero. celt_helmet_berru: Central Europe (Austria) Late Hallstatt (500 BC). Uncertain that this can be used. Bueller? Bueller? celt_helmet_ciumesti: Eastern Europe (Romania), Mid-La Tene. Elite unit? celt_helmet_ciumesti_raven: Eastern Europe (Romania), Mid-La Tene. Gallic hero Viridomarus. celt_helmet_classic_coolus: Southern France? Mid-Late La Tene? Gallic Champion Infantry? Can have some plumed variants? celt_helmet_coolus: France, Northern Italy. Late La Tene. Gallic Spear Infantry? celt_helmet_marne: Northeast France. Time period? Unit? celt_helmet_montefortino: Southern France, Northern Italy. Late La Tene. Unit? celt_helmet_peaked: Britain, early Empire. Perhaps rename to celt_helmet_meyrick to be more precise? Britons infantry? celt_helmet_port: France. Late La Tene. Gallic Champion Cavalry. celt_helmet_waterloo: River Thames, Southern Britain. Mid-Late La Tene. Briton Hero?
  14. Here is where the game could show off its dual attack mode system whenever it gets one. For ranged units such as these, if the target is too close they switch to bayonet melee mode.
  15. Yes! This is what the game needs more of. How many features does the engine have, yet the game has no entity that utilizes it, I wonder.
  16. Spear cavalry good vs. Elephants? How does that make any sense?
  17. By "elite" you mean Champion? Try to use the standard 0 A.D. terminology. ;)
  18. It would be great if it was a standalone mod so other mods could easily use it or make it a dependency. Or better yet, made a patch for the core game so that it can be maintained.
  19. I'd maybe allow 1 battalion per tower (it would be a special garrison slot) or just don't let battalions garrison into towers.
  20. Can we not just make them Hellenistic and give them some ethnic aesthetic instead? Here's what I threw together from @wackyserious and the crew from the Millennium AD team's work. Possibly for the Arab Javelineer (Seleucids). The Nabaetaean Camel Archer can use the Elite Umayyad textures and props. At least starting out. We have any good references for Arab/Nabataean units for the antique era?
