Well yeah

I think the solution to the champion "problem" is to have 2 templates for each champion. The ones trained from the Han Academy would have _academy or other some such suffix. Both templates would have the same SelectionGroup. Similar to how the "House" females work. Sound like the way to go? Fortress Thing™ is definitely A27 material.

Redundancy Theory strikes again! But really, we aren't so far apart. A few comments: Alpha 24 was ostensibly designed to be a "reset" alpha, as the balance was seen as too unwieldly. It was never meant to be "the" game's design. At least, that's how I saw the changes. "Going back" to Alpha23. I don't think that's the goal here. Were some things better in Alpha 23? Absolutely. But we are trying to move forward, not simply trying to recapture the feel of a past alpha.

Can look into that^ They originally weren't so OP, but folks wanted me to make them cheaper, etc. *shrug* I think 75 wood cost, instead of 60, is worth it considering that other farm fields have a steeper diminishing returns penalty. The Minister boosting wood cutters can help make up the difference. I agree the heroes need reworked. I think heroes in general need reworked, but the Han especially. Lol, I can look into the projectiles thing. I also want to revamp this upgrade. It all depends on what the rest of the team is willing to let me do, considering we are in feature freeze. I agree. I know how to fix this, but it will be messy on the backend. Again, feature freeze.

The proposition is that: The Fortress is now pretty boring. The game should not have boring things. Having Champions trainable in the Fortress was more interesting. Champions at the Fortress separates them more from regular troops, thematically. Champions in the barracks and stable ruin some of the benefits of the Gymnasium and Syssition and Academy. Some possible cons I see: Moving Champions back to the Fortress might make them less used. Moving Champions back to the Fortress could unbalance the Fortress? There is the notion that the Fortress should simply act as a strong defensive/offensive position, like a large overpowered defense tower instead of a uber barracks.

It was tongue in cheek, but references some folks' tendency to suggest training the same unit from multiple different buildings. I personally really dislike this kind of dilution and I think it's not good design. I made it a "feature" of my mod to do away with a lot of it by creating separate roles for all the units, keeping different types of units trainable in separate classes of buildings, etc. The most recent example of redundancy theory was when we all chewed over the Han crossbowmen, some folks suggesting we train them from the CC, Barracks, and also the Archery Range (here they would be trained at a "higher rank"). I mean, that kind of thing is just too much. Muddling clear delineations.

Possible Solutions: Make the Gymnasium the Athenian's barracks and move things around. Make the Gymnasium cheaper and stronger in some way. Because originally all of the other champions in the game were trained from the expensive Fortress. The Gymnasium also had a bonus for garrisoning troops inside. This made the Gymnasium a great structure, and added some historical flavor to the Athenians. Since then, there have been many changes to the game, some of which were mistakes, IMHO, like moving champions to the barracks, etc.

===[TASK]=== Improve hero portraits

All civs will eventually have their own folder. It's going to be one of my little projects to accomplish that. Should be easier than my project to give all unit textures their own folder. That was a massive undertaking, lemme tell ya. Yes, portraits will be easier. Right, but then name it "Emissaries" instead of "Cartography." Cartography = maps Emissaries = Dove, etc. -
Now that would be cool.

Honestly, I always thought the "Diaspora" tech was kind of a silly name for it. "Social Contract" or something like that seems more apropos. -
Both. I really wish you could playtest Scythians in Delenda Est mod. Right now the mod is in disarray after all of the Public mod changes I've made.

It was only a suggestion so someone doesn't take a Ptolemy house and slap the Brit texture on it. lol I am quite happy with just the Kennel as-is.

I would suggest nomadic structures build automatically. Don't need citizens to build them.
-
Wait what? A Ptol house with a Britons skin? How did you come up with that idea? Just use the current Kennel and add a little fenced in area around the front.
-
Gameplay.
-
Why not just have them trained from the Kennel? Why do you guys always want to push this redundancy theory of civ design?
-
Nomads don't sleep in yurts? You should check out the Scythians in the Delenda Est mod.
