  4. Hey everyone, I am writing this post to let you know I will become mostly unavailable in the coming weeks. As some of you know, I pushed my limits a lot farther than I ever did for this release, and this combined with some of the threads here + AFK life has had a big impact on me. Probably because I always want to see and take the best out of people. Anyway, to be able to give my best again, I need some rest. And unfortunately, it seems that requires a complete break, else I get dragged in too many things at once, and will never stop until I break again. We have art assets to improve, maps to ditch and make beautiful again, and maybe even a new civ to add. Social Media might be a bit silent too for a while. If you see people having issues, don't hesitate to help / direct them to the forums. "All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us." I count on everyone of you to help make A25 a success and to be nice when I'm gone, and I hope to see you all soon. See you soon everyone, PS: If you really need to reach me you can send me an e-mail.

  9. The guy is back under "Melusines" username. He exercises the same behavior and rethoric. I've seen many messages in lobby from him attacking various religious, ethnic and race groups (i.e. "I hate muslims", "Serbia", encouraging people to burn Serbia and many others I do not want to type), and usual talks about Jesus. Anyway, I am personally sure It's the same person (Melusines=pesem=other accounts) which would mean multiple accounts and hateful speech in lobby which is break of ToS. (I am reporting here since there is no responsive moderator in a24 lobby and to put stress on the background of the person.)

  12. I found a chronicle of Pedro de Alvarado's fight against a Salvadoran Pipil tribe.

  25. Hmm, I see it as innecesary micro with no gameplay benefits. I try to imagine what interesting mechanics could bring that, but I see no one. If all weapons/armor resources are created on the forge, they are just extra clicks that you have to balance If there's the introduction of new buildings to create the diferent resources, you are creating a chain that can be destroyed or raided for disrupting the economy of the enemy, but also is not so diferent of having diferent military buildings to train dedicated troops.

  28. A few suggestions (as someone who has seen some catastrophically bad indie-RTS tutorials )... 1. A complete RTS tutorial system should be split into 3 separate and stand-alone segments: i. A primer on RTS controls and concept for completely new players. ii. A gameplay tutorial that teaches the specific skills needed to play the campaign and skirmish matches. iii. A multiplayer introduction that teaches fundamental skills and strategies players will need to know to be competitive in multiplayer. 2. We should be able to skip any of these segments or complete them in any order. Forcing someone with 1000 hours of AoE2 to relearn unit selection and tech trees in order to find out about some build orders is a @#$% move. 3. The RTS Primer really should not have any narrative elements or context. Its purpose is to teach new players how to play the game, which for many is a big enough challenge already. They don’t need a side helping of historical fan-fiction to digest on top of all that new information. 4. The Gameplay Tutorial can and probably should have a simple story to keep players entertained. However, it should be completely independent of any other campaigns. Forcing someone with 1000 hours of AoE2 to sit through hours of tutorials to get the prologue to one of the main campaigns would be a @#$% move. We also don’t want a very involved story unless there is the ability to skip it. The point of a tutorial is to teach gameplay. To much extraneous narration will get in the way and piss off anyone who genuinely needs the tutorial. 5. The Multiplayer Introduction absolutely MUST NOT have any narrative context what-so-ever. This is for the developers sake, not the players. This tutorial may need to be frequently updated, and that will be much harder to do if every balance change requires rewriting large chunks of the framing story and narration from scratch. 6. AND if you can possible help it. Don’t decide on a framing story for the tutorial until AFTER you have designed and preferably built the training scenarios. Otherwise people will get attached to their story devices and it will be much harder to make necessary changes down the road. But if you do all of this well, you can make a great first impression on new players and grow your active player base significantly.

I think that is not a secret that lobby style is too old. Maybe should be changed for something more ''atractive'' What i propose is to make a big lobby where all players are there chatting or just being, and then 3 sublobbys (maybe more or less depending of the wellness of your ideas) - Team Games Lobby: As the name shows, a lobby to play multiplayer games - Rated 1v1 Lobby: As the name shows a lobby to play 1v1 rated - Casual Games Lobby: As the name shows a lobby to play non rated 1v1s Ok, let's do here another way, a way where there is a rating in TGs. (We'll talk about this in some time) In case that there is a possible TGs rating, the Casual Games Lobby would be to play TGs and 1v1s unrated. I'll let design stuff to you, think about some ideas and coment them!! 2) Ratting System Changes Well, probably we all can accord that nowadays there is nothing that makes people play rated games, excepting the own points. Maybe it's not enough, maybe not, is not. I propose (as i accorded to @user1) to make a new Ratting System to make people play rated games, and to make this game more atractive. What you think about this: 1) Making seasons . Yes, making for example 3 mounths seasons and when season ends, restart the points in new season to the initial ones. I propose to start with 1600 points. 2) Making a League Mode. This is handed with the first point, and in my opinion is the most atractive point. Why not making Rated Games Lobby a league mode, having a league depending of your rating. I give you an example: Wood League: (-1400) - Stone League: (1400-1600) - Bronze League: (1600-1800) - Silver League: (1800-1950) - Golden League: (1950-2100) - Platinun League (2100-2250) Diamond League: (2250-2350) /// Here, we would be at 1730 ratting more or less, which is a strong rating. Top 23 now. So, we could make a Pre Master league. Candidate Master: (2350-2450) - Master League: (2450-2600) - Grand Master League: (2600+) Obviously, designers should make an animation showed after each rated game with an experience bar with rating, that is filled or emtied acording if you win or lose. At the left with the current league, and at the right with the upper league. I don't know if you understand what i mean. 3) Giving some insignias: Before the nickname of each player, you could have some insignia depending of your rank, i thought in having your League's shield until you're Master or Grand Master, that you would have a yellow RM (Rating Master) or a GM (Grand Master). For example: GM elexis (2741) Sorry @elexis haha Maybe titles like GM or RM should stay forever, becouse it's suposed that only 12 players as much would get them in all seasons. Or maybe it should last just the current season and the next. Brainstorm guys =D 3) Player Names: @user1 told me that he doesn't want to overcharge names, so we got the conclusion that maybe removing the rating of the players, just showing the insignia and the nickname would be a good idea and if you click one player, in his profile you can find its own rating. In my opinion i would let the rating too in names. 4) Player's Profiles: What you think about this: When you click in a player, you can see, Name, Rank, League, W/L and the flag of the country. You like the idea? I have more ideas that will be posted with time. Mates! share your ideas and let's make 0 A.D. bigger!! Let's make a brainstorming. Greetings. Stockfish

  32. Ok so civilizations in america from the preclassic period 2300 b.C. to 100 a.C. Olmecs: They lived in the areas of the states of Tabasco and Veracruz, but other places have evidence of their presence. 1500 b.C. to 400 b.C. They had 3 main sites San Lorenzo, La venta ( I have visited it ), and Tres Zapotes: San Lorenzo: The ancient city of San Lorenzo is considered one of the most important cultural centers of the Olmecs. Some research suggests that this process of development of the city occurred thanks to the enormous amount of water resources. In addition, it is believed that an elite would have dominated local politics, in view of the large number of luxury goods identified in the region. The splendor and high degree of development of San Lorenzo lost force between the years 950 and 900 BC. Although there is no concrete evidence in this episode of Olmec history, some historians suspect that an internal conflict has fueled this stampede. La venta: ( Most important ) At the same time that San Lorenzo went into visible decline, the city of La Venta became the unifying center of the Olmec culture. In the fourth century BC, this city was of great importance for this civilization. After that, perhaps because of the great climatic changes, this region was uninhabited until the definitive demise of the Olmecs. For many people, La Venta could have been the capital of a possible Olmec empire; It was not the oldest city, but undoubtedly it was the best preserved, and it is possible to generate much of the Olmec style. Tres zapotes: Tres Zapotes is a Mesoamerican archaeological site located in the lowlands of the south central coast of the Gulf of Mexico, in Rio Papaloapan plain. Tres Zapotes is sometimes considered the third largest site in Olmec (after La Venta and San Lorenzo), although the Tres Zapotes phase constitutes only a fraction of the history of this place. The oldest occupation occurred at approximately the same time as La Venta, but there was still a post-Olmec occupation. The site is located in the village of Tres Zapotes, near Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz, on the western edge of the Sierra de los Tuxtlas. ART: Cabezas Olmecas or Olmec heads 25 tons basalt 1300 b.C. to 1000 b.C. Best details than any other civilization in Mesoamerica. Each is unique 17 have been found 3 in Tres Zapotes 4 in La Venta and 10 in San Lorenzo Warriors Have African features ( no one knows why ) FACTS: They were the first ones to have a written language in Mesoamerica. Government: Teocratic, the Governors were an important religious figure. Religion: Had priests called chamanes; Gods: Feathered Snake ( like other civilizations( Quetzalcóaltl by the aztecs ) ), Rain spirit. They were one the first civilizations to practice cranial deformations: Deformations were seen as something good and they made some instruments to make your head "deformer" like other civilizations. They also played ball game ( see previous post about ball game ) DECLINE: No exact reason, may had been because of weather or a plague or a drought, etc. OTHER CIVS ILL RESEARCH LATER: Zapotecs, Mixtecs, and an article about Cuicuilco a circular pyramid that may have been done by the olmecs or the zapotecs ( and its like 4 blocks away from my house, so I think it would be good to talk about it since it lands in the period you said ).
