  1. I will add these beautiful animals to the protoclassic maya mod. The cobra and the parrot were on the forum but still in .blender files I exported them and the animations created are working fine (create a simple snake version from the cobra). I will make available the animals already implemented so that other moders who want to use it will be easier to do. Does anyone know if it is possible to decrease the size of units directly in the game? Example: the snakes were the size of a large snake, but many snakes were no more than 1.50m.

  3. In reality, the crossbow cavalry is weaker than the archer cavalry, so there is no need to do it. I don't know why some people are obsessed with this unit. It is necessary to know that the Han Dynasty is played in the game, not the Qin Dynasty.

  4. In this case, I don't think it is necessary to make a separate Scythian female warrior unit, just make the Scythian soldiers have both male and female appearances like male and female civilians.

  5. I think strong features should have strong motivations. asymmetry in civs should be designed so that players are not confused by features that feel out of place. For instance, I think it would be immersive and fun to play spartans unlike any other civ, with champs in p1 maybe, and women who can fight, why not, they were actually tought to - not just the men, all the women from spartan family as well. For Persia instead, the role of women is not associated with war at all. There are exceptions, but it would just play weird to me if they were the only civ where women use bows, that just clashes with the reality of an essentially patriarcal civilization and empire.

  6. Women in ancient Persia were not only highly respected but, in many cases, considered the equals of males. Women could own land, conduct business, received equal pay, could travel freely on their own, and in the case of royal women, hold their own council meetings on policy. Women in the Achaemenid Empire The Achaemenid Empire followed a patriarchal paradigm but, within that framework, women had more rights and responsibilities than in any other ancient civilization except that of Egypt. Women, like men, were defined by social class and rank within that class. The female hierarchy, from the highest to lowest. https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1492/women-in-ancient-persia/ It must be seen from the perspective of these centuries. And not with the idea of modern feminism. This means that it seemed barbaric to send them to the battlefield.

  7. apart from historical justification, what is the gameplay reason? I can understand "more varied is better", which is true in between bounds by the way, but why in particular would you give persians eco extra defense? I can't see it. the same claim about some women fighting and even leading armies could be made for many other civs, like celts and numibians.

  8. Well, if you follow this logic, the dagger only serves to kill animals and not fight. Civilians in theory shouldn't fight, but they do, so the weapon they use doesn't matter as long as it has a historical background, and the Persians apparently do.

  9. What does anyone think about a change that would make it so ships could only be repaired if they were near a shipyard or dock? Instead of the ships having the ability to get repaired by any citizen worker near a shoreline, they could only get repaired by a "healing" aura of a shipyard (like a temple heals units)?

  11. sometimes others flare and add a comment like: - 5 to you - help and sometimes i got flares without any comment. then last games i ask "whats up?" and often i get no answer. then if i have cavs i take a look to this position. if i have most pike-man and rest most female workers i not run to this position, it was sometimes happens i run with all military to this position and there is no help needed. was a miss-click he said. i sometimes confused about my own behavior. so it happens that i flare and don't add a comment. sometimes the other players are very very angry if they feel not understood correct. many enable the card update very late, and some others very early. the often think then flare is enough without comment. but if you update this card update, to see your aliens, short time behind p3 your often don't understand what a flare is. i recommend. please add a little comment, like "help". or "help to many" or something. or "help, maybe i could do it" .... anything. if you have other ideas. an audio talk within a team could also be very helpful. those were a few thoughts.

  12. My suggestion is to make siege towers only attack buildings, then replace normal arrows with flaming arrows, and of course, set different fire resistances for all buildings.

  13. In my impression, the spabara do not seem to be spearmen in the general impression, they are also archers themselves. According to Herodotus's account, the Persian infantrymen all carried wicker shields, bows and spears, that is to say, the Persian infantrymen were all archers with shields and spears, except that the archers in the first row did not shoot arrows during battle. It is to cover the comrades behind with shields and spears. If he is killed, the soldiers in the second row can also use their shields and spears to fill the vacancies in the first row. Of course, the army of the Persian Empire was not only of Persians, but also of many other ethnic groups. Those ethnic groups had specialized spearmen, such as the Assyrians. According to Herodotus, they were still armed as in the late Assyrian Empire. He wears a bronze helmet, linen armor, and holds an Egyptian-style shield, as well as a sword, spear, and mace.

  14. Because in real history, the ministry building (Guanshu) and the civic center are one building. Or, if you are unwilling to give up any architectural models, then I suggest changing the current ministry building to the Imperial Palace (Weiyanggong) to represent the central government, and the civic center to the official hall (Guanshu) to represent the local government. The palace can train heroes and issue central decrees; the official hall can train local officials.

  21. Yes, women of other ethnic groups are not incapable of fighting, there is such a thing in the Han Dynasty, seven sisters in a family were armed with JI, shields, bows and swords after their father and brother were murdered by corrupt officials. With Gouxiang (a shield with iron tips and hooks), who ambushed and killed officials to avenge father and brother, the story has been celebrated and sung to this day as a classic case of blood relatives' revenge.

  23. If resistance with any weapon is justified, or that's the problem, other peoples also hunt with javelins or boomerangs, so why not add these weapons to them for self-defense? Why not give them a chopping axe so they can chop down their enemies? In addition, when mentioning this kind of education in ancient times, the default is to refer to men, unless women are specifically mentioned, the Han Dynasty also recorded that Xiongnu people learned to ride horses and bows and arrows since childhood, but they only refer to men, and women of nomadic people may ride horses for herding. , but with the exception of the Scythians, they rarely fought with bows and arrows. And the Persians are not nomads. Their men practiced combat skills from a young age in order to serve the king in the military. Therefore, the king gave the Persians tax-free, and the Persians who were recruited into the army were also men, so women did not need to learn these. Skills that have nothing to do with economic production.

  25. Daggers are a special case, because daggers were tools that people would carry with them when they went out, whether it was for self-defense or for cutting food. This has not changed in the Middle Ages, just like people in modern times will carry their mobile phones with them when they go out. And even if they didn't carry a dagger, they would pick up roadside branches and use them as clubs, or pick up stones from the ground and throw them at the enemy.

  28. But the reality of the Han Dynasty is like this. If you feel that it is breaking the balance, then don't make this faction at all. Moreover, the variety of soldiers destroys the balance, and the game makes the advantages of swordsmen and sword cavalry too obvious, and I think they should be made less important.

  29. Even if you join the male and female civilians, I do not recommend letting civilians use bows and arrows to fight soldiers, because bows and arrows are just hunting tools for civilians, not weapons, otherwise why don't they use logging axes, pickaxes, and hoes to fight?

  30. I would say there are two reasons not to have this unit: One is that it is pretty unrealistic. two is that it doesnt fit with the other crossbow units well. Different range than champ cav crossbow, than champ crossbow (mace), and very different to the existing han CS crossbow.

  31. Good day to all, you were not waiting, and I am with a new batch of offers. Please do not hit hard)) A couple more things that could be improved in the game: 1. The AI uses a strelomet (a siege weapon with piercing damage) only to attack buildings. Which is absolutely ineffective. 2. AI likes to get stuck with siege guns in narrow places, especially near towers. 3. The AI actively places infantry in the tower (sometimes bringing it from the other side of the map), even if the tower is attacked by a single infantryman, and the tower does not have the ability to fire under itself (i.e. 5 stooges are sitting inside and doing nothing). 4. It would be cool to prioritize the extraction of resources: very often pikemen carry food from the fields, and the townspeople pick metal. it was also possible to think about the "limit" - often the AI accumulates 5+ thousand stones, and it continues and continues to mine it, then sell it for metal, which could be mined right next to it. 5. The problem with the animation of pikemen when capturing buildings is the spears turned upside down. In general, it's funny to watch how the guys hold a huge pike with one hand and wave it in the air. Especially when they are 30 + dug)) 6.Perhaps it's worth changing the animation of capturing buildings to the one that units have and is used when winning a battle? 7. I have already written, but I will point out again - pikemen, because of their low attack speed, are very slow to pump, and in fact, usually die without even getting 1 promotion. And swordsmen, often, on the contrary, because of the high attack speed, very quickly become veterans.

  39. Uploaded the .blend file. It was saved with Blender 2.78c. This file contains initial camera+lamps setup from the original file by Micket and all new animations (made so far) as actions in Action Editor. Also there is a test action I could not get rid of. It serves no purpose. Notable changes to animations: Fixed a clipping issue with idle_01 I totally forgot to fix before rendering. Fixed interpolation issues with idle_02. cobra_animations_WIP_170714.7z If anyone wants to try animations in the game or make additional animations, please consider reading notes below. I am not certain I can spare enough time to complete idle_03 during this weekend. I will try to get it done by the end of the next week then.
