Update : - Changed lighting effects - Changed ground textures - There is now fewer but thicker woodlines (in smaller map sizes specially) in an attempt to balance wood and to also leave space for DE farmlands. - Wood can still be imbalanced, I will probably look into guarranteeing a forest to players - I am still not satisfied with how i deal with trees and leaves around the road3 points

Nobody knows how and when the Celtic languages splited. This is a very strong debate in linguistic notably between the models of Karl Horst Schmidt and Kim McCone. Yes! The difference is that the first video is 100% based on non-existent material while the second is based on existent material, real written record in Gaulish. The Common Brittonic video is based on linguistic reconstruction from an amateur. Those texts do not exist in the historical records. It depends on the hypothesis and the model of the person carrying out the reconstruction. It is in your mind. You are comparing Gaulish written during the Gallo-Roman period with a non-existent reconstruction of Brittonic. I am not a linguist, so I rely on the opinion of expert. In the case of Delamarre, he clearly states on the first page of his dictionary that he considers the Celtic language spoken in Southern Britain during the Late Iron Age (100 BC - AD 100) as only a variant of the language spoken in the continent.2 points

I use this dictionary from Delamarre, French is my mother tongue. Those are the latinized version. And brogae is actually what you can see in Allobroges, I don't think it means "field" but "land", "country" or even "territory". The Gallic dictionaries generally analyzes Galatian, Lepotian and Gallic as a whole. Sometimes including Brittonic languages. I will answer further later.2 points

Hi guys, I had the idea of making a new random map with multiple purposes : - To adapt a skirmish map from Delenda Est mod and making a random map compatile with it (so, notably to have farmland) - To have randomized but still balanced additionnal ressources near players. They will have the same amount of nearby food (+/- 200) and it can be of same or different types (hunt or berries). So I decided to adapt "Britannic Road" from Delenda Est by @wowgetoffyourcellphone. I am packaging my mod as such: `pyrogenesis -mod=balanced-maps -archivebuild=/home/badosu/Code/balanced-maps -archivebuild-output=balanced-maps.pyromod -archivebuild-compress` When I do that, the `wrench.png` preview image is converted to `wrench.png.cached.dds`. This is my `wrench.json` file: https://github.com/badosu/badmod/blob/master/maps/random/wrench.json#L6 When I try to select the wrench map on gamesetup I get the following crash: tex_dds.cpp(446): Function call failed: return value was -120102 (Invalid/unsupported texture format) Function call failed: return value was -120102 (Invalid/unsupported texture format) Location: tex_dds.cpp:446 (decode_pf) If I change the map preview reference to `wrench.png.cached.dds` it also fails. Any ideas? add -mod=mod -mod=public before -mod=balanced-maps and try again. The problem is you are missing some files called textures.xml Also from what I can see your image preview is non power of two. That will crash on mac for sure, and maybe some other oses. it's needs to be something like 256x256 1024x10241 point

@user1 I am SuperTux95 and want to report Mativen1983. I practically defeated him (no units and structures left on land, just a ship...), I asked kindly to resign because the game continued too long and I had to go to dinner. He refused, so I went AFK. When I returned, I saw he left the game a few minutes after and then I defeated his last ship and finally won. I personally put him on my blacklist and don't want to play with him ever again, also because of his INSANE defensive tactic to prolong the game uselessly. Here is the replay: commands.txt1 point

hello, if you really want this, make a seperated parent-template for this unit and restrict all classes, you want not to attack. for example: <PreferredClasses datatype="tokens">Siege</PreferredClasses> <RestrictedClasses datatype="tokens">Structure Organic</RestrictedClasses> but then the unit wouldn't react on enemies, when there are no siege-units, it make no sense ...1 point

At this time the Brittonic/Brythonic languages are very little different to the Continental Celtic or Gaulish. It is mostly a matter of stress accent. Remember that Old Irish, Old Welsh and Old Breton are Medieval languages. The language spoke by the Britons is labeled as Common Brittonic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Brittonic As noted by Tacitus: So personally I see no issue to use Gaulish for both factions. From the toponyms and the ethnonyms, I see little difference as well with Gaulish. Iberian language is probably non-indo-european as well. Sadly Iberian is not understandable, we do not know enough the vocabulary and the structure of the language. Furthermore we have no sister language to do a comparison. Hello, no, there is not option to attack only certain unit. They should prefer to attack siege units. But until they are tasked by player to attack certain target, they respond to any melee attacker when they are attacked and they are not fighting at that moment.1 point

If @Genava55 is responsible from both of them, i can directly deliver the resources i find to him. I just found few here and here. There is also books like Dictionnaire de la langue gaulois , but it is removed from the web, and to read them French and a little Greek knowledge is needed. I realized French resources are more than the English ones, so this is the reason we can't find anything (maybe). There is few "Gaulish" words can be used at game, i pulled from the first resource. (For curious, these are from page 48) ambactus - vassal, dependent on the lord. attegia - hut, cottage (there is a note that tegia means house,roof) brogae - field carrus - two-wheeled wagon (for traders maybe) carpentum - two-wheeled, covered wagon. (this might be the chariot) drungus - troop of enemies (this can be use as a sound line) drogn - troop gaesum - spear, javelin. nausum - ship lancea - also spear. [ dó-leicim - “I throw” ] I realized, (maybe) this language they spoken is different than Welsh, but it is highly possible to find similarity between them, even with Irish many times. If the in game texts are Welsh, these words above are similar. I am not really a professional, so i can't be sure what is Gaulish (the resource is really complicated) And for the other resources, someone French should needed for better information.1 point

For gauls ans britons it can be discussed with @Genava55 For iberians yes basque is not an ideal choice but there is no trace (that I know of) of the iberian language at all so I guess it's a compromise. (Yes text is in basque) What kind of help can you provide ?1 point

Hi I've just played my first ranking match (which was a clear victory). I wonder if it could be possible to rank IA too. It would help me to see if an opponent of rank (1000) is challenged by easy/medium AI or rolls on hard/very hard oponents. Maybe, we could even count matches agains AI in the ranking before the first multiplayer one? Besides, team ranking would be a great addition for familly player's like I'm.1 point

I've proposed this already sometime ago: how about an additional function similar to the buddy or friend-thing that would allow you to mark other players as "notfriends" - the idiot-button, kinda? ...you know, so you can designate players with whom you've had bad experienes like quitting, toxic behavoir etc. I play occasionally and i recognise a lot of aliases, but after a few months it's hard to remember things - like "do i remeber this guy because we had a fun game, or because he was a total @#$% last time?"1 point

These are all great ideas but 0AD needs more players to make these more practical. Especially it needs a very strong competitive scene to make the leagues active.1 point
