Will your behaviour improve? Honestly though, both my time, and your time, is better spent on constructive things than silliness, so just leave it and move on.4 points

This is my first time making a topic here I believe. Of course, my memory isn't exactly the best but lets not dwell on that. This here is a place to throw up concepts and ideas for all to see for review, constructive criticism, and inspiration. Perhaps even garner support for someone to aid in making the mod a reality. Mods can be either implementing your favorite franchises into the game to duke it out (example Warhammer vs Warcraft), to suggestions for gameplay elements for other people to use, or even concepts you've conjured in your Original Setting that you have in your head. Example: If you have Ideas for the modding community to use or make, pitch them here for inspiration or review. If you like an Idea, be sure to click the heart of the post and copy past it into your computer just in case.2 points

@wackyserious I was looking for something else, and stumbled on this, this might help you figure out shadows on your textures2 points

@thankforpie I'm leaning very close to banning you if you keep this up, please stop with this nonsense. If you want to make things up go write a novel or something.2 points

Thanks for trying out 0 A.D. and coming here to report your problem. As the game is still in alpha releases there are still many things we need to do. Many of these we know already, so when you provide feedback we would ask you to focus on some of the other points that could be improved. PLEASE READ THE FAQ BEFORE YOU POST HERE. THANK YOU. There is a neat table of planned features at http://trac.wildfire...ayFeatureStatus so you can tell what we are planning to add. Lag This is a common complaint, and with good reason. The game does not run as fast as we would like. Late in the game you will probably experience some lag, this is caused by a mixture of things, AI and pathfinding are big ones. The problem is worse on island maps and with multiple AI players. One thing that can be helpful is giving us the profiler information. This automatically generated information is useful for working out where the lag is coming from. If you hit Shift-F11 this will be dumped into a file (location given at the top of the screen). Please upload these data to our forums to help us solve the problem. Thanks! Missing Animations Some units glide around or don't drop to the ground when killed. We have an animator who is working away at making pretty animations. More animators are invited to help with this task. Units Can't Attack When Chasing There is a problem in the code where units decide to attack, then the chased enemy gets out of range before the attack hits so it is aborted, so in effect any units chasing each other won't be able to deal damage. Greyed out/disabled menu items Some menu items can't be clicked on, this is because those features aren't yet implemented. Units don't fight in formation Can't run two instances of the game simultaneously on Windows Multiplayer Lobby No one can join my game! Currently, only routers with UPnP support or routers that have been properly port fowarded are able to host. I was disconnected from the lobby... This is usually caused by a moderator kicking you for abusive behavior or inappropriate/vulgar chats. AI Problems AI tries to gather from resources near your base AI Doesn't Know how to Fight using Ships There may be errors loading a saved game with AIs. Rejoining a multiplayer game with AIs is not supported yet. Common Suggestions "You should use multiple threads/cores" 0 A.D. does have multiple threads for e.g. texture conversion, pathfinding, sound/music playback and user data reporting, but the game simulation and renderer currently run in the main thread to simplify development. "You should use Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc." We did try to do an Indiegogo campaign, but while we did raise some money which will go towards improving the game, we did not raise as much as we had hoped. The goal was to raise enough to hire two developers full time for two years, but we did not reach it so we have not been able to hire them. We might consider doing it again in the future but we currently do not have the resources for it.1 point

What's the point of that comment? It's not true as you can see if you go to the link in the post before yours (there has been changes as late as today), and it can only confuse or demoralize people. Of course it would have been nice if there had been more activity, we're at least as disappointed as anyone else, but if you want that to change it's better to offer advice or help.1 point

Note that 0AD now uses Phabricator (also a modern open-source project with repository viewers and pull request functionality). It is installed at https://code.wildfiregames.com/. For an example change request with discussion and continuous integration, see https://code.wildfiregames.com/D157. Phabricator also supports Git, and also has issue tracking and wiki features (currently disabled for 0AD). So if the project will consider Git and/or to migrate away from Trac for whatever reason, I imagine Phabricator would be the obvious choice.1 point

There isn't even a need to rush into the town phase. Other than that, yeah.1 point

Hi, yes, the autobuild is down for some days, we'd like to build with VS2015 on it. Happy to see it is that useful for you, we'll try to make the downtime as short as possible1 point

Something that annoys me are the chitons (tunics) of several basic units currently in game, e.g.: mace_infantry_pikeman_b, mace_infantry_javelinist_b, mace_infantry_slinger_b, mace_infantry_archer_b. Wearing the tunic only over the left shoulder was a characteristic of slaves and serfs, leaving the right arm free for hard labour. Free men wore a tunic closing at both shoulders. With the exception of the helots (spart_infantry_javelinist), all warriors in Antiquity were free men and none of them should thus leave a shoulder or chest bare. Perhaps the following text is useful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Decree_of_Amphipolis (Full inscription at https://epigraphy.packhum.org/text/152464 ) Inspired by this? That eye-colour bit is nonsense, but his haircut was famous:1 point

After that patch is committed one will be able to add trees with a slow regen rate and an another. object that will boost that regen. Destroy that object and the effect goes away1 point

There is D1718, which would allow bushes to be partially harvested and subsequently regrow.1 point

For easier installation there is #4027. I'm opposed to reinventing more of a package manager than we already do. Also allowing downloading and installing of mods (which contain code that will be executed, and I'm not certain that all the code paths that can be called are safe) requires at least signing them so nobody injects malicious code. Then we'd have to verify that mods don't do any obviously malicious things (which is most likely some work, depending on the mod; if there isn't a lot of JS that is easier). Something I'd like us to do would be providing hosting for mods (.pyromod files) split according to the version of the game they depend on. (That still requires us to at least check the mods, but most of the mods above are small enough (amount of included JS) and pretty much all of them are produced by trusted people (there is some intersection between the wfg team and those modders ;-) ).1 point
