The first week was pretty rough. Peaceful marches (with some sporadic vandalism and violence from some agitators) was met by massive overreach escalation from police forces. The proverbial mask is being ripped off. People protesting police brutality being brutalized by police. -

He was condemned in his own time for his actions... And that's fine. We can learn about him at museums and in history books without revering him in statue. First Nations tribes are still reeling from 500 years of degradation, ethnic cleansing, and forced poverty. /Building/ the statues had an ideological motive. They weren't built by academics intending to represent history fairly and impartially. You've indicated already you understand that. Keeping them up is yet another ideological motive by many who oppose their removal. -

Churchill I can give a pass on since he did some admittedly great things despite being a racist imperialist, but Columbus was so @#$% that he was roundly condemned even in his own time. There are plenty of other famous Italians that can be revered if the Italian American community still thinks they're being marginalized. Columbus had very very few redeeming qualities. Indeed, most being erected in the time of Jim Crow and the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan. As you indicate, specifically as an insult and intimidation tactic. -

Big proponent of #blm here. Last poll said 70+% of Americans think the police unfairly target minorities, that includes even a significant portion of Republicans (right wing conservatives). More positive change has come about in 2 weeks of protests than in 2 decades of voting. -

I was thinking of trying to simulate a frenzy. So, as the javelins impact the elephant, not only do they drive down the health and loyalty of the animal, slowly piss it off too (make it angry). The animal's speed and attack go up in response, and when it reaches 0 loyalty it goes to Gaia and attacks any player within range (now in this frenzied state) until killed.

I was weary of asking for yet another stat for the units and hoped extending the loyalty system as @bb_ just suggested would be a nice compromise. OTOH a morale stat would be useful for mods, bit that could be something to add later if we just extend the loyalty system as suggested. I think the javelins could maybe cause 2 loyalty "damage" for every health damage caused or something to that affect.

Could a status effect, say from skirmisher javelins, reduce loyalty of a unit down to 0 and make them go Gaia? Applicable to elephants, chariots, and potentially other units.

Some Greco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek helmets would be awesome additions (I'd really like to add the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom to Delenda Est). But higher priority is Boeotian helmets with plumes. We have various uncrested and crested variants, but none with plumes (which is what they're usually depicted with in illustrations). -

Honestly, I think the old sounds are better. Your new bow and arrow sound is better than the "woop" though, so I propose: Swords/Spears: Keep the old sounds* Archers: Use your new "Bow Twang" sound, but reduced in volume. Javelins and Slingers: Use the old "woop" sound, but reduced in volume. *The game needs to identify active battle sites and kick in some " battle" sound FXs. https://youtu.be/WYi4Bp1hmC0?t=94

The area near the Jhelum River can be pretty rocky and hilly. I hope that we can get the Map Resize patch committed so I can enbiggen the map (from the center instead of the bottom left corner) and have room to add some cliffs and rocky areas.

Hydaspes River 2 players The Hydaspes, aka Jhelum, River in the Punjab of India. Here was the site of the great battle between the Macedonian forces under Alexander the Great and the Indian forces of the king Porus of Paurava. Map features: A broad river bisects the map. Players start with 6 free army tents for a population boost, a free Elephant Archer, a free Indian Dock and a free Indian transport ship for early river crossings. The river is unfordable except for a small ford at the south end of the map.

True, just a suggestion. lol The omnipresent horn currently causes milk confusion, IMHO. We currently don't indicate from which direction or where the danger is coming from. -

I'm thinking quasi positional; I'd just want to hear it from the direction it came from, like unit commands and other such sounds. So, directional, not positional and not omnipresent. -
