  1. I downloaded version 25.0.0 of autociv from github. (Stan's link above) Double clicking the pyromod opened A24. In windows I started A25 SVN and dragged the autociv pyromod onto the running application. That displayed an error informing that the pyromod could not be installed. The github was updated 7 days ago, so I will patiently bide my time. thanks for the prompt feedback! Update: Success I went back to Nani's autociv thread and found the instructions for installing the zip file instead of the pyromod. Copying the folder from within the zip file to the mod folder of the A25 installation folder allowed the mod to be visible in the A25 mod screen! It enabled without issue and works!

And just when I say that... @Angen @Freagarach Given that we don't use transform nor the foundation code there, any idea what might be happening @wowgetoffyourcellphone got a vid? Apparently Freagarach reported it a while back but it was never logged.

  6. Introduction My aim is to create and further expand upon the two Hellenic states bordering India, namely the greco-bactrian and indo-greek kingdoms. I decided to make one faction isntead of two for two simple reasons, the first is that that they share the Euthydemid dynasty and I think in my humble opinion that differentiating one from the other, in terms of gameplay is a challenge that I am not willing to take on right now. It is also safe to say that this is not the final version of this civ. Special thanks go to @Sundiata, @Genava55, @Lion.Kanzen and lastly to @Ultimate Aurelian for posting and elaborating on these two civs and regions in the following topic: This mod will give more emphasis to the first two dynasties, the Diotodid and the previously mentioned Euthydemid lines. In regards to their structures, a mix of persian and hellenic styles would be ideal but without unique models and textures the illusion is broken so this first draft will instead look at everything else regarding this civ. Almost immediately two questions rose up, how to make the roster work? How to make it both fun and unique at the same time. Of course my biggest fear was to make a "bootleg" version of the Persians. In summary : strong cavalry and ranged infantry but mediocre melee infantry and siege and a truly awful navy. Civilization Emblem Civilization Bonuses Hellenic Architecture Already in game and common to most greek civs . Equine Husbandry Cavalry -30% food and -20% metal cost. Team Bonus Bactrian Wealth Allies gain a 0.5 metal/second trickle for the duration of the game. Unique technologies Archery tradition Already in game, given to eastern civs. Buddhist Evangelism Phase III Research at temples + 10% healing rate for temples and healers +1 crush, hack and pierce armor for all citizen soldiers Cost: 400 metal, 500 wood, 300 food Bactrian Camels Phase III Researched at markets Traders +20% movement speed and +20% health. 11. I would choose to click 5 times. This is more flexible than setting the batch size to 5, so if you are rich then you train more than 5 in a batch and if you are poor you train smaller batches, but either way your barracks would not be idle. When you are booming, always train as much as you can actually afford. Never stockpile on food and wood, unless your strategy needs it. When you are fighting, spam barracks and train units one by one from them, so that you are always reinforcing your front line and never outnumbered. Don't train in batches when you are fighting! Therefore I recommand spamming around 3-5 barracks near the front line, if it is attritional battle then you need more. If your whole base is under attack and you can't fight back, garrison all units first, then train the largest batch. Once your big batch is out, release all of the garrisoned soldiers as well and fight the enemy with all you got. Enable loom tech and use women as anti-ram. Set women on violent mode; they are also decent anti-archer meatshield.

  12. I don't see the problem with it being a so-called decoration; it affects the game as I think social classes should given the abstractions RTSs allow. Adding unnecessary complexity is generally a bad idea for any game design, especially so in RTS games where there is only so much time a player can commit to doing various actions. It integrates well in my opinion with the current paradigm. That all said, the Celts would probably follow a slightly different schema. I am not much of an expert outside that area (for that matter I lack the academic qualifications to call myself even an 'expert' with Hellenic matters). For what little I do know about Celtic social structure, I could see a few key differences. First, there doesn't seem to be much of a large distinction between citizen and non-citizen to them, so citizen and freeman would probably be unnecessary designations given the slightly better social mobility they allowed. They did however clearly have a noble class, but probably the largest distinction that should be made was the important place druids had in the culture. By comparison, Greco-Romano priesthoods lacked the professionalism we might expect, and the office of Pontifex Maximus was more of a political than religious position (Julius Caesar even held it even though his Epicurean leanings would have probably clashed with the more traditional ideas behind the actions of gods with men.). Making druids appropriately capable of providing things such as gathering and combat buffs would reflect this. Slavery as well was a practice that could be represented.

  17. I did some quick messing around with formations and found a new issue now. When I unit attack move or patrol when in formation, only one of the units in the formation will attack while the rest continue moving onwards, right through the enemies. Attack move and patrol without formation seems to be just fine though.

  18. You know, funnily enough, I was experimenting with more appropriate, dedicated textures for Kushite reliefs, including their colors, over a year ago, but never came close to finishing it. I almost forgot... Maybe one day I'll complete it. . By the way, the artist, Joan Francesc Oliveras Pallerols, changed the title of that work from "Kushite Warrior" to "Tribal Levy of Kush", based on my input Either way, it's a pretty amazing piece, like all of his art...

  19. Hello Differentiate the two names seem necessary. Removing these units from the mauryas I am against. They are ok. Giving choice is important, it's not just a competitive game. I like having common units a small number of civilizations. (archer champ = kushite, athens for example) Just to give identity to civilizations we can imagine this but it might take a little nerve to compensate for this buff: a small utility function :Modify the poison to make it a slowing poison (50% speed) instead of a damage poison (currently this makes the unit stronger than the equivalents of other civilizations in terms of damage). For the moment nothing prevents the creation of champion archers because they are widely used at Athens. Sword champ is not use for the moment but maybe they can be used later in orther alpha.

  21. Allow me to summarise then. There could be four broad classes: nobles, citizens, freemen, and slaves. For our purposes champions and mercenaries are not considered in the framework. Nobles: for where this is pertinent, nobles would often be the cavalry units that would be composed of echelons of society. They would be trained at advanced rank and could have minor combat bonuses to their stats, possibly at the cost of taking up two population. Citizens: generally the same function and designation as current citizen soldiers. Examples would be hastati, Macedonian pikemen, and some lower class cavalry. Freemen: roughly the same as citizen soldiers. They would only promote to the advanced rank at most. Examples could include perioikoi, metics, and socii. Slaves: purely economic units that would have a bonus to mining and quarrying. Capture of them would be possible. Note that there would be exceptions to these rules. Skiritai would be one as well as helots in all probability. These would merely serve as a template that would adapt based on the societal norms of each faction.

  22. Since the city was founded around 280 BC, well after Alexander had come and gone it's definitely not repurposed. Ai Khanoum was full of this stuff. The palace for example followed a very Persian outline, but it featured colonnades capped with Corinthian capitals, and the entablature followed the Doric order, with triglyphs. The other structures included a vaulted, peripteral mausoleum and other more Persian looking stuff. One purely Greek structure I'm aware of was the theatre, carved into a rock face. "Ai-Khanoum (Aï Khānum, also Ay Khanum, lit. “Lady Moon” in Uzbek), possibly the historical Alexandria on the Oxus (Greek: Ἀλεξάνδρεια ἡ ἐπὶ τοῦ Ώξου), possibly later named Eucratidia, Εὐκρατίδεια) was one of the primary cities of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdomfrom circa 280 BCE, and of the Indo-Greek kings when they ruled both in Bactria and northwestern India, from the time of Demetrius I (200-190 BCE) to the time of Eucratides (170–145 BCE). Previous scholars have argued that Ai Khanoum was founded in the late 4th century BC, following the conquests of Alexander the Great. Recent analysis now strongly suggests that the city was founded c. 280 BC by the Seleucid emperor Antiochus I Soter. The city is located in Takhar Province, northern Afghanistan, at the confluence of the Panj River and the Kokcha River, both tributaries of the Amu Darya, historically known as the Oxus. It is on the lower of two major sets of routes (lowland and highland) which connect Western Asia to the Khyber Pass which gives road access to South Asia. Ai-Khanoum was one of the focal points of Hellenism in the East for nearly two centuries until its annihilation by nomadic invaders around 145 BCE about the time of the death of Eucratides I." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai-Khanoum Some visual references for Ai Khanoum: Temple with Indented Niches in the foreground: Another reconstruction of the Temple with Indented Niches: And a reconstruction of the Temple with Indented Niches by Juan de Lara: https://juan-de-lara.artstation.com/projects/L0eEk The theatre:

  23. For the record I've spent the past four months helping them migrate. They had modified and tweaked nearly every single component and didn't really remember where and what they changed. They've got about as many templates as we do which didn't help. I wrote a script to fix it but there were too many edge cases. Since the migration took too long and started to affect the Patreon of the project they had to release an A23B version to keep the people happy. If we had released more often this would habe been manageable but in this case backporting two years of development was a huge undertaking.

  24. I too would advise you to go to A25. This (https://code.wildfiregames.com/P225) is the script that I used to move the templates to their civ-subfolders (for A24) it left for little manual work. For the port to A25, we've tried to maintain a (fairly complete) list of stuff that has changed: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/PortA24ToA25.

  25. Just my 2 cents on this, I searched quickly and "phusis" apparently means something like "nature", if that is the cause I don't think "gaia" is used simply because it is greek, if it was just for the meaning then simply "nature" in each native language would do it. I think the use of "gaia" is more because of its connotation of mother earth, as she is the originator of all life in mythology, also it is used in other famous games, people are used to it, and to me it seems like it is the name of a "player" controlling that "color", much like sometimes specific historic figure names are used in scenarios for certain colors.

It made me happy and nostalgic for the early games of the 90's, 2000's that I played on my mom's computer, like Age of Empires. The build I was playing was from 2019 so I figured I could download a newer one from here, and here I am, expressing my gratitude towards the team for making this really special gem. I hope it comes to fruition and that the hard work pays off, and I just wanted to let you know that at least you made one person happy today :D Greetings from Mexico.
