Indeed, the model and actor do not have the garrison flag prop designated. Thanks for the report. I've fixed the Celtic one, as you see there, and will take a look at the others too.3 points

If you just want dropdown values then you might take a look at binaries/data/mods/public/gui/options/. We add dropdown values dynamically via JS for options. If I'm not mistaken the question is about many values not many dropdowns.2 points

about captchas, something like "which of these is a champion unit" would really work better than anything else, I'm not joking. It's a test too challenging for any AI not spefically trained for it, only thing to worry about would be if we want out the humans who can't solve it as well.2 points

I want to share with you my entusiasm for my new work. It will take very long time because it's a huge project and I'm at the beginning but I'm really happy and I hope that you will like it. It was very difficult to preserve proportion and I based the heighmap on sinusoidal projection. Sadly It's impossible to include Antartica, I think that It would be amazing to build a civic center there. In the end, I want to ask an aid to map artist to improve the final result, because I'm not so creative.1 point

Sassanian military was heavily dependent on cavalry. Therefore, I recommend adding these units to the Sassanian faction : Vacabara: Lightly-armoured horse archers with long range and fast speed but low attack damage and low total health value. Dehqan cavalry: medium-strength cavalry with bow and lance. Quite balanced role. Cataphract: heavily armoured cavalry with lance, but moves slowly. They should have very big total health value Azadan: elite cavalry that can switch between bow and lance. It would be an improvement to allow some Persian and Sassanian cavalry units to switch between bow and spear using a hotkey. Historical Sassanians did this to accommodate for long distance arrow fights and short range combat. In the game, this feature allows the player play more strategies using the same units. I look forward to playing with this faction.1 point

Oh but it can be changed. It would just suck very much to have to move all the garrison flag positions to the templates Currently artists decide where the flags are, if we did that it would be on the template side. One upside might be that flags could be animated going up and down I suppose.1 point

I don't like this new version after playing for a while. can I vote again?1 point

That could work. This is also a good idea. I had to do it to register an X account. It took me around 5 minutes. It seems like it'd be really bot proof.1 point

@Atrik Alright, that looks so much better. The design of the squares is beautiful! I notice some smudging in the headers (Team #). I would try without bold/stroke to avoid the letter's wholes being filled and letters not being touched each other. Also, I would change civ name's colors for another more dark to make more contrast with the background. I wonder if it's not too hard to use the player's colors in the player's names instead of using diplomatic colors. Or maybe this can change according to player's preferences using the respective toggle button. Finally, I would move the content a little down. Right now is too much close to the header. The spear can be smaller, so it's not too close to the contents if you move the contents down.1 point

I have a dropdown in an XML for a GUI page like this: I know I can add items like this:
name of the first item

name of the second item
The problem is that I want to have more than ten items in the dropdown, and preferably add them from a JavaScript script instead of listing all of them in the XML. How can I do that? I found list functions here: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Exposed_GUI_Functions#List_functions. But I'm not sure how to use them. And from a quick search not a single instance of 'addItem' or 'pushItem' was found in 0ad's code.1 point

Yes. Unlike rally points that are spawned by the simulation code, this is spawned by some different code that cannot take the current civ into account.1 point

Do you know this captcha? https://youtube.com/watch?v=4Ks-C4YJGnc Seems to be a newly developed system. And I assume it's made in such a way that bots using most recent technology can't pass. I have to say though, they can get very annoying. When you get one wrong you have to start all over. And the amount increases. I once had to do twenty or so. But it depends on the implementation. What about having to solve a captcha like this when registering a forum account?1 point

Indeed - you are active commenting and providing/proposing good stuff almost round the clock!1 point

I assume they don't do research, just automatically spam as much posts as possible wherever.1 point

The entire player base would be gone. The best thing is that using mute or disabling the chat is more effective. Communicating with preset messages would be ideal in many cases. You know that you are just censorship that make the mass media the only thing they create is that people look for space where to come to say things. And culturally you are not going to be able to avoid that.1 point

One thing you may do when starting a game is to lookup other team players civs in the diplomacy tab. For a better and faster read of team compositions I've added a new "team recap" option, to display a quick summary of the teams when the game starts. If ever someone read this and can think of a better picture or background texture then the red banners, I'll be thanks-full. Edit : @guerringuerrin re-design with diplomacy cues as decorations. Colors wouldn't work on these stone/marble cadres.1 point

Yes and not. In theory, DE should be the game's experiment laboratory.1 point
-
I have no recollection of this, but apparently it made a big impact on you, so I apologize. If I were to be made leader I would merge DE instantly and make everyone angry.1 point
-
Imo ideally every department should have it's own leader to spread the load, intaked and assigned by someone who knows a bit of everything. But we don't have that luxury. I think you can count all active devs on one hand. Putting everything on 1 person again will just lead to burnouts. Btw the original post is top tier trash, at least catch yourself up to the history before saying all that. Or get your own feet wet in development instead of making demands. Like alre said, you don't even seem to grasp the concept of an open source project.1 point

This sounds pretty unfair. One would rapidly figure out how much Stan did for the project (I know only 1% of it, and still it's obvious). I guess next project leader would be honored to take on his legacy. I don't want to ask in the dedicated topic because it deserve to be a thread about thanking Stan but is there a ongoing discussion on who would take the role? @wowgetoffyourcellphone would be a great candidate, but would he accept? Is there other members interested to step in it?1 point

Using Vulcan should drastically increase the performance and reduce the lag. The list is there: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/query?status=assigned&status=new&status=reopened&type=defect&milestone=Backlog&group=type&col=id&col=summary&col=owner&col=type&col=priority&col=component&col=time&order=priority People making balancing changes and small features are not the same people than those working on the engine and on the core of the game.1 point

games are not open source and only maintained by volunteers. it's an impossible comparison.1 point
