@vinmeyou are smartest of all, no one else even comes close and you have taught us all many things, most important things, great things and we all thank you for this. (any1 who agrees, please upvote)5 points

I like that. I think @BreakfastBurrito_007 made a great point about how the diminishing marginal returns is not actionable--it really just makes Sele easier. In that case, I think you can give an even bigger cost and/or build time decrease to make it "more" actionable and relevant. Deceased cost/build time could open up some different build orders (i.e., people would be less likely to chase berries).2 points

The only sensible thing is to remove the diminishing returns for all civs, @maroder had such a plan, a hidden bonus to a hidden feature doesn't make sense at all. Just because a parameter exits doesn't mean it has to be tweaked. Increase gather rate for a civ if you want a farming bonus.2 points

You just deserved an upvote with this post, which increases your reputation ;-)2 points

System wide solution could be: - Act fast no delays! - Mute user from lobby by system and disallow to create a hosted game via lobby. - Players who host would simply not assign or auto-ban him (HostEnhanced mod has such feature) - To avoid another account creation simply ban IP for a day/week Apply to any account with similar behaviour. Only strong enforcement is the way how to threat with toxic. None of above followed = dont waste your time to even resolve it and to contribute - this player is banned from any my hosted game since today.2 points

He almost does this in every single game , regardless of your age or position. Sometimes he insult literally for no reason at all. I try hard to understand him but no point. So far the best solution is to mute him or if you are host just prevent him from joining your games. There are rules in the lobby itself. This behavior in the main lobby is solely prohibited as you know. But during game, i believe players needs to take actions themselves, ignore, mute, kick or ban him. Rage is almost in every gaming community and it's understandable by me but he really over do it . Insulting player's parents, telling people to commit suicide etc is a very dangerous thing to overlook. I hope @user1 @Stan` looks into this2 points

A law suit should generally be possible, but it would require to track the IP at least. The best solution is, if he would be ignored by everyone, but some people find the whole thing entertaining and will not do so, and also it would not be optimal if new players suffer from the phenomena and no other players realize to give support.2 points

Currently, it can be a little annoying to get a mesh from the game in Blender, especially when it has a lot of props. So I created this little blender addon for blender 2.8 What it does is it loads all the files used by the actor recursively (it picks random variants like the game does) and place all objects on their respective prop points using constraints. (Do not forget to disable constraints before exporting, else you might get into trouble) It also assign a diffuse, norm and spec material to the object @Syn I believe this will be way better than the explanation I gave you by e-mail, as it's a one click business @Alexandermb @LordGood @Enrique @Trinketos @The Undying Nephalim I believe you only use blender as a proxy, but it might be helpful for you as well. Here is an example with a model with a lot of props You can test it here https://github.com/StanleySweet/blender_pyrogenesis_importer/releases/download/1.3.6/io_scene_pyrogenesis.zip EDIT: Textures are assigned in the link above. EDIT2: The importer may edit files, to remove materials, effects or images that might have broken the import otherwise EDIT3: Update version.1 point

My daughter and I would like to play a multiplayer game using the Game Lobby. Is it possible to create a "private" game? In exploring how to do this, I did not see any option. Additionally, others were attempting to join. Hopefully, I did not irritate anyone.1 point

I think this is also true for acceleration, which could also possibly go away. I don't like the idea of having technologies, by their own description, "increase spead and acceleration". Just say it gets faster.1 point

Sure but that’s more attenuated. Field costs changes build order more. For example, I would be a lot less likely to expand my territory with buildings to get extra berries if I know I can save 100 wood (farm stand cost) and not have to walk all the way to the edge of my territory if I have free fields.1 point

About the "either or" discussion for seleucid civ bonus, I think the farm cost and build time reduction will have more gameplay impact than the elimination of diminishing returns per farmer for seles. The diminishing returns per farmer I think would get treated as a simple food rate bonus and would not as visible or actionable in-game.1 point
-
I tend to agree. I don’t like hidden features. Diminishing marginal returns is disclosed, but it’s magnitude is not. So the true impact of this bonus isn’t obvious (hence the above discussion). @hyperion’s suggestion makes the game more comprehendible and can easily be adjusted to do @real_tabasco_sauce‘s civ bonus. On this, I would also eliminate the diminishing marginal return for buildings, which is entirely hidden (I think).1 point

yes, I'm not a fan of it. For reference: But at least in that poll it seems like other people enjoy it.1 point

I believe it's the added one. (otherwise that bounus becomes crazy, like +52.4%) I think it's more understandable if it's just a building bonus. no matter if it doesn't affect late game.1 point

cumulated effect of proposed bonus: 1 farmer per field: +0% food income 2 farmer per field: +5.3% food income 3 farmer per field: +10.7% food income 4 farmer per field: +16.3% food income 5 farmer per field: +22.1% food income so if you keep your farms fully staffed, it's +22% food income. it's not wild but it's very good from the moment you get farms.1 point

@maroder's solution is correct. For your information @Thales, you can achieve the same, but without entering the Game Lobby. Just do the following: one of the players hosts the game: from the main menu choose "Multiplayer" and then "Host Game"; the other players join the game: from the main menu choose "Multiplayer" and then "Join Game". The joining players just need to enter the IP address of the hosting computer in the prompt. If playing with people you know, this alternative solution has some benefits: no need to register/authenticate with a lobby account, no need to set a password when creating a game, no information on your games are made public, risk to be DDOSed is reduced.1 point

Ok everyone, I found a good civ bonus for Seleucids: farms -25% cost, -75% build time, and no diminishing returns for farmers. How does this sound? This way the bonus works in the short term, but also a little bit in the long term. here is the merge request: https://gitlab.com/0ad/0ad-community-mod-a26/-/merge_requests/24/diffs1 point

I recognize that this is an imitation of vinme's topic about ValihrAnt, but it took me a while to notice that you replaced "ValihrAnt" with "vinme" in the sentence. Are these types of topics cheap ways to get upvotes, which gives an increase in one's forum "reputation", or do they have some meaning or relevant circumstances that I'm missing?1 point

Yeah, and be aware that they often do their verbal assault behind the curtains in Observers private chat so the host of the game cannot see what's going on. I wouldn't be surprised if they join a match after it started solely for this reason. So, if you care about this, ban them from your game even if they are observer.1 point

You bombard a client with so many packet requests that the internet connection gets unstable, usually using bots to leverage your attack (distributed denial of service).1 point

There are some interesting textures from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. These rounded cobblestones in the ground, polished by walking on them, could fill any urban dirt. You can also find something more suitable from the original video. Is this the Macedonian center? Looks amazing! It would be interesting to look at the repaired Athenian and Spartan centers.1 point

Thank you so much. I feel I have enough information now the examples are making more sense to me. I'll try a bit more before asking further questions. Thanks a million for helping out Maroder.1 point

The main reason no one uses it is that its hard to get the troops in the right places, and also you can only garrison 8 troops up there, which means its not worth the clicks to get them up there unless you are iberians in p1. I have previously recommended adjusting the number of positions to 20 so that it can be useful, even if there is some unit overlap (god forbid).1 point

Ah my bad, forgot about the preview. Unfortunately the preview are stored in a deeply nested folder, so they need to be in: your_mod/art/textures/ui/session/icons/mappreview/your_map_preview.png The second one. You need to create a .zip that contains on the top level a file called mod.json. (If you would change the extension of the .zip to .json that just invalidates the .zip). What you don't want to do is to create a zip : "my_mod.zip" that contains a folder "my_mod". You just want a zip that contains 1) the mod.json file and 2) the folders/files you've added/changed in the correct directories. The mod.json is basically only a text file that specifies how your mod is called and what dependencies it has. It needs to be set up in a valid json syntax. The links I posted earlier contains some examples for reference. (Hope this helps, but feel free to ask more questions)1 point

I would love to use the wall but you lose control of it quickly to gaia if in neutral territory or to the enemy if in enemy territory and you can't prevent it.1 point

Today, while we were spectating a team game, Shyft_Sierra threatened to commit violence against me. I said nothing to him. Also, I haven't been talking behind his back. He could easily reply to this thread. Shyft_Sierra, animosity between us is imagined. I'm merely enforcing the established rules for Wildfire Games on everyone, equally. There's no personal conflict between us. Threatening anyone with violence is a legal violation. This will not be tolerated.1 point

The lower efficiency is not specific to the Hans? Well I think that info was more clearly stated for them. I believe it was something like 1+0.9+0.81; you could click on different women to see their gather rate. btw here is the link to the community mod thread:1 point
