Dear all, thrilled by the new Alpha 0.26 - great job folks! Though - a little user interface inconvenience: 1 - when selecting a new mod from mod.io via the 0AD mods download menu, it is not possible to see simultaneously which mods version is already installed and which mod version is available for download (I know this is a luxury issue and the new nodal window cannot be moved, unfortunately, unless there is major redesign of the user interface mechanics). I you move the overlapping modal window borders a little bit, the existing mod versions could be seen and compared to those aversions available for download. 2 - sometimes new mods versions are not replacing older ones but are added as new mods. Wouldn't it be nice to have a button allowing to remove (delete) the installed instance of an existing mod? (kind of a clean-up process) ( I do know you could manually remove them from the directories but uI would prefer doing that from within the game) Thanks for your consideration! oh i see, @guerringuerrin, this is in the siege-acceleration-change branch, but not in the 0.26.2 branch. So basically it is being worked on, but not yet included in a release. I double checked by applying the 0.26.2 version in 0ad and comparing stats before and after.1 point

@guerringuerrin The first gameplay changes were just fixing the han fields. I would guess we would gradually introduce more comprehensive changes to see what can be accomplished with the mod. For example, @LetswaveaBook's idea about house women training is not a drastic overhaul so I think it would be an easy next step for the mod. Adding gameplay features quickly can still leave time for people to comment on them so long as they dont interfere with each other. For example, the sparta overhaul followed by a cavalry rework can be tested and evaluated independently in the same mod. But we should certainly leave time for players to evaluate and play new features before we add ones that are dependent on those earlier additions. I don't think we should be afraid to add gameplay elements that we are not 100% sure are improvements, because getting player feedback is essential to improving the game, and the mod can be changed and updated semi-continuously. We should look into ways to ensure only the most recent version of the mod is playable, because players could have the tendency to settle on the older version and not care to try anything new, which is what the mod is all about (as I understand it).1 point

ChronA and I warned wraitii and others about these issues when the community-mod was first announced. wraitii doesn't seem to know how the community managed to get a significant number of players using community-mod. Important team game hosters hosted popular games with it. valihrAnt hosted games with it. That was a good idea, but a time sink for valihrAnt. And, the changes were simple and important enough for people to voluntarily install it. If you don't keep the changes simple and important enough, and ideally infrequent enough, then the player base will not cooperate. How do you herd cats? You don't. You find out what they want, provide that, and then they voluntarily go to it. Alternatively, I would suggest creating a separate mod called official-bugfixes. That one most people will probably use. And, community-mod can be kept for (minimal) gameplay balancing.1 point

I announce that the tournament will start next week! It will use a weekly schedule, and have a BO1 format. I did not decide yet if it will use seeded or random brackets as I did not gather enough opinions. Feel free to give your opinion if you registered! Registrations are still open, and will be until Sunday 9 October 20:00 UTC, and I will announce the brackets before Sunday 22:00 UTC. Once they are announced, you will know who is your opponent, and you will have 1 week to play your match. I strongly encourage you to use the forum private message feature to schedule your match. If you meet your opponent in lobby, you can of course play your match on the spot, but please do not count on it! This is not guaranteed to happen. Even if you registered, it is not guarranteed you will get to play the tournament. It depends of if the number of players registered fit well. Here is how I intend to complete the brackets: There will be a Gold Bracket that will contain up to 8 players. If more than 8 players registered, then having a Silver Bracket is a likely possibility. If we have around 16 players registered, then there will be a 8-player Silver Bracket for sure. If we have 12 players registered overall, then I will message the 4 players that didn't make it to the Gold if they are interested in playing a 4-player mini bracket. If you missed the registration deadline, do not forget that I intend to organize more tournaments like this if it goes well. The biggest problem of balancing is that everyone says that the team needs to change this and that. It is like waiting for the bus to arrive while not realizing that you are the bus driver of your own life. Very little people actually realize that everyone has the power to do so. I think that attitude needs to change and this proposal can help with that.1 point
