  1. A similar request has been made in the past. The thing is that only a part of the developer team is able to make performance improvements. It's not the case that adding content is at the expense of performance tuning. Also, people are ungrateful, so I'm sure they would only be like "the development is stalled, there are no new features". Anyway, I can't say I share the same experience regarding the performance. I noticed no performance changes since A25 (on my older laptop with an integrated GPU). Maybe my game already was laggy before.

  2. ok, made it workable for A26. Two issues though. - Production queue for units does not show the time indicator - Production queue for techs does not show at all, but ones fully researched they are displayed @ISlan

  4. It's pretty hard to make any improvement without statistics. Could you retrieve Shift + F11 statistics (profiler.txt) for A25 and A26 for the same scene? And attach logs and hwreport as well, you might find paths to them here: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths.

  12. there are few evidences of the celts nudity. Polybus has related the story of the naked the Gaesetae warriors (he noted that the other gauls were dressed), but they were mercenaries, and there are no proofs that all the warriors were naked. it could have been only an act of defiance, not understood by the romans. And for the Galatian (statue of the dying galatian) like I said, nudity for the greeks had a special symbolic, even if some celtic warriors could have been naked for various reason, it can't be accepted as a generality. And Diodorus Siculus is not a reliable source it is not a modern reinterpretation, but too often there is little questioning of greek and roman writings because they were written by greeks and romans.. it is like the fact that the Thracians would have had the Red hair. They made a generalization. And these writings (arts in general) were not for us but for their respective populations, and the vision of the barbarians was written in this sense

  15. Acceleration may make unit motion appear slower. I wouldn't say performance overall is worse than a25, but I do think some performance tuning is needed for a27. I've seen multiple players in the lobby say they would even rather take performance improvements over content if they had to choose one of the two.

  17. I enjoyed reading more about the recent changes on that matter. The commercial games employ techniques to mask the actual command delay, even though the actual delay also can be lower as wraitii described it. You would usually start animating the units immediately and then smoothe their visual position into the actual one. We could probably do something like that.

  18. This release is getting sluggish if compare with previous 0.25. Units respons a bit later, fight get even more computation lags. Would be cool if you focus for 0.27 only on performance tunning and nothing else..

  19. I am surprised how much you delivered in such a short time! Thanks for all your work. I gotta check the Trac to see who made it possible. I am even more surprised by the new songs. I must have heard the old ones thousands of times, but they don't get old. Is it more from Omri Lahav, or are there some new authors? Maybe it's time to update https://play0ad.com/media/music/ too.

  20. Maybe after rejoining the specific situation could be saved as the "starting scenario" ? After all the map shown in the replay is not a random "mainland" map, but a specific variation as well. It might be though, that a specifc "seed" is beeing saved, which allows the exact reproduction. So i guess it is technically difficult, to modify the setup before the replay starts, as lots of information would need to be saved, including commands in progress and an extra "modification" step before the replay starts would need to happen. But i am programming nub, so just random ideas.

  21. I was just referring to the fact that the replay files without a beginning could not be used to actually replay the game because the initial state of such replay is not available. You only have player commands since a specific time, but those are of no use if you don't know which entities these are referring to. Replay files could be merged provided that there is no gap. Perhaps if you only quit and rejoin while the game is paused. It would be different if the game state after a rejoin would also be stored, but unless something has changed, that isn't the case.

  22. I would argue it is even of more use, than having just the first minutes ? It still would allow to see how certain actions during the game worked out. And despite i dont know if it is technically possible, it would also be an option to just add to the old replay file ? I agree that it would be a very welcome improvement.

  24. Han rank improvements should be exactly the same as other civs, but it may be that the improvement for crossbows was never added to the generic advanced and elite auto researched techs.

  25. Correct, the 'turn length' was 200ms in SP / 500 ms in MP, with command delay set to 'next turn' in SP (which can range 400-200 ms). I've changed it to 200ms everywhere, but the command delay is 3 in MP, which results in 1000-800ms actual delay I believe. One thing to note is that the graphics are always 'one turn behind' the game simulation, as we need to know what happens between turns N and N+1 to render turn N. So even though SP actions take place on 'next turn', that's at best 201ms away. Lowering the command delay would be possible if we had better lag mitigation, and could adjust on-the-fly, but works remains to be done here. Adjusting the 'turn length' requires optimising the game.
