And its done, that's all the Han heroes are done for now. It's been fun trying to learn to draw their scale armors. I'll work on them again when later theres helmets for them, but right now I just want to rest because of my afromentioned condition. So, sorry @Lion.Kanzen since I have to pass on that helmet for now. Even without it, I just never had real passion for anything Roman related, so I'd probably wont be prioritizing it anyway. I'll look into other ways I can contribute, just not without that much urgency these days.4 points

It would be more interesting if the nomadic factions were more unique in their building system. Because there is no farmland, the nomadic faction needs more energy to solve the production of food, and the corresponding reduction in the cost of construction means that the nomadic faction can devote more resources to training the army.3 points

Why not just have them trained from the Kennel? Why do you guys always want to push this redundancy theory of civ design?3 points

Probably not. But I suppose those buildings have a bigger gameplay impact than kennels. If we had building sockets we could append them to buildings BFME2 style.2 points

We had this in the past and was removed. The issue was that ranged units kept distance on their own. Melee inf had no chance to ever get close to ranged cav for instance. So this would need to be carefully designed.2 points

It was only a suggestion so someone doesn't take a Ptolemy house and slap the Brit texture on it. lol I am quite happy with just the Kennel as-is.2 points

I am afraid I cannot agree with your viewpoint here. Sometimes I just remain idle and observe lobby conversations, without interacting with anyone and few people ever noticed me. Approximately 1/3 of the conversation is about advertising games and asking for players to join; another 1/3 is post-mortem of games where players compliment each other or insult each other; about 1/4 is smurf speculation and the remaining parts are in other languages that I cannot understand. Out of all of the smurf speculations I have observed so far (at least 20 cases), there had only been 2 correct guesses; all of the other attempts were wrong, a 10% accuracy. An interesting observation was, the speculators themselves were absolutely convinced with their reasoning and refused to listen to other player's guesses. The deduction reasoning of the smurf speculators roughly follows these 3 paths: 1. Who does this playstyle resemble? 2. Who could invent this name? 3. The style of language used by this smurf. Once a player satisfies all 3 criteria, then the speculator is convinced of this player's identity. Intuitively, this logic is sound, however, one must consider the possibility of non-unique solutions to the problem and the plausibility of a player changing their strategy. If one would like to conceal their identity, they would alter their use of language and playstyle, even if it means hindering their skills slightly. These often throw the speculators off-course and wrong an innocent player while leaving the real culprits amok. On the case of Yekaterina, as a fellow student in the same university as her, I can responsibly tell you that she has been ill since last Thursday evening and any potential smurfs you saw since then couldn't have been her. Furthermore, a technical difficulty specific to Eduroam (the WiFi network in our university) prevents more than 1 account from logging in simultaneously, that means, if she is online, then I must be offline. This problem first appeared in January 2022 - I believe she has not been able to make another account since then. I have watched her try to create another account over VPN, different HWID spoofers but all of her attempts failed and resulted in her being banned. Therefore, Emperior's claim that Yekaterina 'is still smurfing' is wrong. We used to swap laptops to play the game, so at times, I was playing behind what appeared to be Yekaterina, on her laptop. Sometimes people could notice but most of the time people never knew a change! One week ago, I found a method to circumvent this bug and enjoy myself in the lobby independent of her. However, I have not taught her how to do it yet! Therefore she still does not have the ability to create another account, at least when she is in the university. I doubt that you will believe anything that I say, which is expected considering I am always anonymous and rarely participate in lobby games. However, I would like to inform you that even the things you most firmly believe in could be wrong. Assumptions will remain speculative until they are proven or set as an axiom.2 points

First of all, magically the most problematic OP units(There are 4 factions that have them) are identified and we shouldn't be pedantic because that is the main reason why nothing gets done in terms of balancing. So this might be a better idea for A27. I was thinking about the Return of the Kennel. War dogs are something what is among the most unique special units in the game and there is no units that even is close to it. Yet the unit slowly gets obsolete as players boost their military with upgrades. I would abstain from making increasing their fighting capabilities as I think it would sound weird if p3 war dogs would easily take out p1 units. What I would suggest is allowing dogs to be trained at the stable. In addition, the kennel is a building which trains dogs faster than the stable, is available to Britons in p2, has a initial limit of 1 and makes the war dogs cheaper by 10% per kennel. In p3 the limit of kennels is raised to 3. So that would give Britons an extra unique building and (I suppose) we all ready have the art for it. Lets not put good art to waste.1 point

Hi everyone. I just installed 0ad (and some other games) on a Debian bullseye computer with only 1 Gb of RAM (and a low-end CPU). It seemed to work quite fine on a small skirmish map (athenian acropolis I believe). What are the settings that would make the game playable entirely ?1 point

I agree, but that would mean for me that we have even more freedom in our decision. Do we want a buy-in cost or not, do we want a dedicated building or not...1 point

Is there more evidence for the other structures or is it all artistic license? Barracks? Did they have standing troops and dedicated buildings for them? Stables? Did they build structures for the horses or were they kept outside and every rider took care of his own equipment? CCs?1 point

I made a random map from the the Cliffs of Carnage skirmish map. It supports all the different biomes. The map will be included with the next cm2 release (that will be v0.25.12). Players start as nomads (whether or not the option is checked). That's because I don't know how to write the code that would make sure players start with a cc and base on the cliffs based on teams. But they get 16 more women than usual to help speed up initial build time.1 point

That's completely fine. There has been calls to create some civ differentiation, so I hope we can find people that can accept the patch.1 point

I would suggest nomadic structures build automatically. Don't need citizens to build them.1 point

One time I saw FRENCH_GOD join a 4v4 as spec. I said immediately "Hello Dakara", and he asked if I could see his IP, lol. I never even saw the account before. I can ususally tell if I know them well enough or if its obvious enough. I think it is fun/funny to guess on smurfs, but I dont think they should be subjected to the "smurf inquisition".1 point

For the record, if anyone ever sees someone in the lobby named "the_sophist" who plays Sparta like a 1250ish player and starts talking like the Aristophanes version of Socrates, I'm probably smurfing. Or someone's playing a joke on me.1 point

Catapults at the moment just take way too long to destroy enemy buildings. Their damage rate and unpack pack times (with adjustment) mean that it takes forever to deal proper damage to your enemies. To make matters worse, they can be killed by ranged units very easily. Should they recieve a buff in A26? I think adding a very small (1 or 0.5 meter) splash damage range where the full damage of the projectile is dealt. Also, they should do more damage IMO. @LetswaveaBook made these changes in his gameplay balance mod. To me, it seems like a no-brainer for a26.1 point

Hi, this is my first forum post, I've created a small map for personal use. I made it in a few days, and it's not the best. Forgive me, I'm still learning the ropes. Looking for feedback! Without further ado, I present my first half-decent, horribly unbalanced map, the Battle of Iapetra, downloadable below. Screenshots will hopefully be added soon. I hope you enjoy, and apologies for the inaccurate name! city_siege.pmpcity_siege.xml1 point

No offence but your post looks like an article of best top TV show which do flip flop with the words of others. Anyway, I will keep it short and sweet. Do you really think people are checking who's specting lobby? Seriously, are you joking here, right? I doubt I ever played with you or saw you in the lobby (nickname on forum), so at that point I see no point to discuss that anymore. Thanks. Just to let you know 90% of speculations happening in spectators ingame. I didn't see any at least in the games which I am playing in, which is simply good. At that point I should stop reading that post. Do you know that only moderators see the IP, also very important note for yourself. Multi-accounts are not getting banned right now even if all of them were created from 1 IP. So, what has an ip to do with smurfing if 1 person can create 10000000 accounts under same IP? How do you know both were correct? How do you know if any of them were not correct? are you lobby admin? or talking trash here? 90% people in 0ad repeat same moves over and over so it gets boring, spam women, get rushed gg, spam women, get good eco, die like nub, spam women and say you re pro in spamming women by calling it booming. Same civ (up to 3) as other civs are unknown to that person or just dont like them. I am player who started in a21, I doubt I ever seen that happening but hey, it's fine to think like that or say, I can't prove you wrong due possibility of not seeing this. 3. No point to comment, I think you are smart and know reasoning for this one. So her created and used accounts which she does have has been deleted / banned from last thursday or you just wanted to say something ? Must be a magic trick. Exit game > switch on game > create new profile > fill in and accept > you can now log in. IP doesn't matter as far as I remember. On the 15th of January said: Just because someone doesn't use their smurf account for few days or weeks, doesn't mean he /she doesnt smurf. In game Chat Yek said: Just let me relog on my smurf account. That was quite few weeks ago. Your're right here. Congratz.1 point

@Yekaterina so you are trying to complain here about known fact that you are making multi-accounts, bascially smurfing which is the only reason why people do assumptions of "who is that person"? darn, I never though I will read something as sad as this topic just because the creator of the topic has caused the issues after which the person still creates about that topic... Sad. You always say that you do smurf, so accept that people will not trust in other players. Yes, exactly. You are one of the reasons why people do, jc is another one. There's plenty of people who do smurf. So the only way to fight smurf is : find out, ban smurf accounts in matches as there are no moderators of lobby online. (User1 isnt robot yet, so doubt we can blame him for that.) Until the smurfing won't be dealt with by the devs like @Stan`the issue will occur more and more. You dont like when people assume, people also dont like smurf's.1 point

yes, and also if you compare military score to res spent, this gives an idea of their skills (micro, unit composition, etc) ^this could also help show if some units are too OP for their cost.1 point

I have no strong opinion on the return of the kennel itself since it can allow for very flexible balancing strategies. I however don't agree with that part of your motivation. The dog function is simply evolving in the game, and they remain decent all along, including the late game. Dogs have two big advantages: i)they do not take population space (by the way, kennels function used to be to restrict that advantage) and ii) they need only one type of resource. From my own taste, late game is when the dogs are at their best, they only take food that often become plentiful thanks to economic upgrades and battles leading to other resources shortages. A great way of spending spare food. In P3, one might use them in an economical way. They would be good to raid fields or woodlines of a distracted player (simply need shift click attack move commands everywhere you expect enemy eco to be, if dogs are spread to run around, they can become a huge pain for the economy since they run faster than infantry). They also might be used to kill isolated units such as reinforcements or women during a push while the rest of the army keeps fighting/ecoing. Dogs can also be used to exploit market prices since they need only one type of resource. If food become too cheap, just buy some and trade dogs for anything of value to the enemy. Dogs are also pretty good to keep building some extra military if you have yourself some resources shortages and food is too cheap to be sold. I will not discuss how dogs might ruin low wood maps since, anyway, mercenaries or elephants might do a pretty good job there too. It is not rare to see people loosing games with plenty of spare food. I would explain the seemingly lack of dogs usage in late game by people not thinking about them or by a feeling that dogs would be too micro intensive rather than by a cost which is too high (some specialists might have used the technical term "nub" here). I feel that your proposition might lead dogs to be more used as trash units rather than some valuable assets. I would personally prefer them to get their strategical value reinforced. For example an increased vision in late game would make them much easier to be used as raiding units (or in a more technical vocabulary, "good for nubs"). That could also fit the idea that dogs are trained to track their target.1 point

There are some players who are very arrogant and make people don't want to play 0AD, we should let new player in high level games also so that they can experience the real deal, there are a lot of player who let new player play and are ok to sacrifice balance in the process also. we need new players in 0AD so its advisable if old players let at least one or two new players in TGs with good players.1 point

Hey everyone, Thanks to @vladislavbelov's restless refactorings and cleaning, the renderer is being made easier to extend, and thus it is possible to add new filters, and texture filtering (anisotropic) is one of them. But that is not it! For those of you with more modest configurations, you can now decrease texture quality to save some of that precious VRAM. Don not be afraid to zoom in to check the differences! For our artsy friends, this also allows you to check the texel density of your models In other word to make sure that you are using the just the right amount of pixels for your textures. How does that work, you may ask, well. If at the lowest texture settings, some parts of your model are really blurry and other are not, it means that something in your texture is using too much space. On that screenshot you can see that the flowers remain pretty neat, while the rest is really blurry. Note that on that setting, we force all textures to be at maximum 256x256.1 point

Hello artists, we plan to do similar visual change to approach build/repair as we did with approach gathering. Currently we would reuse female walking/idle animations. we would like to have a bit nicer approach animations (idle, walk, run) with malet (building tool), one for women and one for man, or if possible can be common for both of them. https://code.wildfiregames.com/D3141 Thank you1 point
