Just have some talks with Lopess, a Brazilian moder, I meet at this forum. to join forces and make this scenario a Solid 0 AD Game scenario for all you guys to enjoy and play, or modified as you like, with the Roman Republic as the main protagonist, and it's chronological history of conquest and expansion across the whole Mediterranean Sea and Central Europe. Here, I'm sharing some pictures with some remarks, so you all can get an Idea of how it is coming so far. Share your ideas and opinions, all criticism, good or bad are welcome, specially suggestions...and thanks for sharing. Remarks are in Spanish, so to those That don't speak Spanish, I'm sorry guys... @Carltonus proposed Cassivellaunus (Cassiuellaunos) which is indeed a good candidate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassivellaunus The other mentioned kings are Cingetorix, Carvilius, Taximagulus, Segonax then Mandubratius. But Cassivellaunus is indeed the most interesting choice. For the later period, there is Cartimandua of the Brigantes that could be an interesting figure and Calgacus of the Caledonians: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartimandua https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgacus2 points

No jokes, that was my final goal. You are lucky that I am bad at blender, otherwise 0AD graphics will turn into minecraft.1 point

Yes, understandable reaction from good designers. Very sorry about that. What I love most about the game, in contrast to other strategy games, is that I use the mouse very little. A lot can be done using the keyboard when the configuration is mature. This is unique. or people with with eyes problems. red green or so1 point

I played a 1v1 game against vinme and I would like to share it with those who might not play 1v1s frequently. It was a very fun game to play, but I can't guarantee it also leads to a good commentary. Mercenary cavalry gets a lot of hate on the balance side of things, but it also has a chance to make games more interesting. I hope that when you see this game you would wish A26 not to be just a boom game. #horsesneedlove Btw, after viewing the video of @mysticjim, I was in the mood for making a tumbnail for youtube. 2021-12-27_0002.zip1 point

Move "autociv" folder to the folder "mods" not "mod". Then open 0ad and in the main menu select "Settings" -> "Mod Selection", a new page will appear. In the page search in the upper list the mod "autociv", select it, then click the "Enable" button on the bottom, this should move the mod to the list bellow. Then click on the "Save Configuration" then on the "Save and Restart" button. Now you have autociv installed and working.1 point

New version coming up! Changes: Banned canopies, so that trees cannot hide buildings or units. Changed all berry and apple tree to pink so that you cannot possibly miss them. Cleaned up unplayable biomes like India and Nubia. Huge changes to trees appearances. Made bushes identical to trees so that no more annoying bushes in India New Temperate: New Nubia: New India: It will lag less because each tree has 2 or 3 less components to render, making India a playable biome @nani This is still based on your autociv. I know this looks ghastly but it is worth it for the visibility improvement! Next step: remove details on the ground, e.g. grass, small bushes, stones and colour the entire floor to the same colour within each biome.1 point

The way the alert system is designed doesn't allow for a hotkey (at least a correct one), sorry.1 point

So people seem to agree that smurfing is kinda dumb and makes it harder to balance team games, but that sometimes you just want a new account. So how about actually enforcing the "only one account rule" everyone accepted when joining the lobby, by deleting older account from the same IP/ machine? So every player would still be able to create new accounts, but would need to accept that every account before that (including the rating) is deleted.1 point

Arguments for showing territorial expansion: 1. Alerts you that your enemy is making an aggressive move and the expansion could be very threatening for your economy. 2. Allows you to see if you are violating enemy territory so you know where not to go. 3. You'll know when you should resign, before their rams come. Arguments against showing territorial expansion: 1. As you said, it is free information being leaked and makes expansion strategies very risky. Your enemies will also know if you are in phase 2 or phase 3 and they can take actions against you on that. Passive play inside the base is encourages, which is not fun. 2. For Seleucid and Ptolemies players, if you want mercenary units then you have to build colonies - this distorts and enlarges the shape of your territory and your enemy will know that you are spamming mercenaries so they will build a fort and towers to foil your plan. 3. Logically, you shouldn't know that your enemy has expanded unless one of your units has witnessed it. Expansions happen in P2 and P3, by then berries would have little significance. I have only seen one instance where someone collects berries near a colony, and he did it with infantry instead of women.1 point

I'd like the shore waves fixed first. Water color depth looks fine already. Now, reflection color could use some work and water surface shadows (from ships, shore trees, etc.) stronger and affected by ambient color.1 point

I'd like to fix the glowing deep water and use a single color for absorption.1 point

Interesting. Would you purpose this not only for elephants? @Stan`h @Freagarach Would this be programmatically possible? Would the game remain playable? Maybe we need a separate thread, though, for the topic on "supplies".1 point
-
Having all units require food resources if more than a certain radius from their civic centre, to be supplied by something like the trader unit, would restrict big elephant army attacks. Fail to supply and the health goes down. This is realistic, historic armies had problems with logistics.1 point

Huffman3829, if you mass enough troops, especially champion and hero types, then you can surround the tower and capture it relatively quickly. In my opinion, the most likely root cause of the problems that newer players have with towers isn't the towers, it's their economy. Watch replays and read guides on how to have an efficient and highly productive economy in the game. Then you will be able to produce a large army, which can walk right past towers or else capture them quickly. Experiment with different strategies. Also, did you know that you can garrison up to 10 infantry units in a battering ram or siege tower, and this protects them from 99% of piercing damage, such as from tower-fired arrows? It's unrealistic, I know, but it can be useful when your opponent has garrisoned swordsmen ready to defend against your rams. Select a battering ram, right-click on the largest picture of the ram at the bottom of the screen, and you will see the statistics for how much armor it has against different types of damage. Garrisoned troops benefit from that armor. If the battering ram is attacked, you can ungarrison troops in it by selecting the ram and pressing "U" or the ungarrison button at the bottom of the screen. Then the troops can defend in the vicinity of the ram.1 point

I think stone towers are quite useless against cavalry. However, they do decent damage to infantry, especially ranged ones if they are forced to fight under a tower. Towers are useless in a big map against a huge push with siege and cavalry. However, in a tiny map, it can be used to deny enemy resources and snipe enemy units, as well as gain some vision. In that situation, a well placed tower would be OP. That's a mistake by them. Send in rams first to destroy the towers and let your infantry stay somewhere else. If the AI try to hack rams, then use some cavalry to kill their soldiers and research the siege weapon armour techs. Tower spam = slower eco, so you can outboom your AI opponent and crush them with a train of siege early on before they have a chance to mass anything significant against you.1 point

Towers are ridiculously easy to capture if they are ungarrisoned, but then if they are garrisoned they are ridiculously difficult to capture and ridiculously difficult to destroy without siege. But your troops default to capturing behavior so they get massacred needlessly. The implementation of the capturing mechanic in the game is supremely frustrating and it's one of my chief criticisms of the "game design", such as it is.1 point

Yes, I also first thought about "dyeing", i.e. colouring cloths, but I am not sure, and AFAIK 0 A.D. does not have something like this implemeted - could be interesting, though. Maybe it's indeed a joke. @wowgetoffyourcellphone Is it?1 point

I can see that point. On the other hand, this is in a world where an entire giant empire is created and established in less than an hour: Smaller trees regrowing in half an hour doesn't seem that unrealistic when you think about that1 point
