1st, you never said its on mainland. 2nd, the development team is not the same as it was years ago, not everyone knows how certain biomes look like or can guess by picture. 3rd, being there people who could say the biome those may not see this post at all 4th, simply biome may not be enough, maps can have tweaks to it The feedback and bug reports are appreciated, but devs do not scan forum 24/7. They have work and personal life, doing this as hobby but sometimes it feels like torture when the reports read like "you are useless, do this to fix the bug, how you can't see it"5 points

I suppose both the condescending tone, and the lack of patience doesn't really maximize the chances you get of getting a positive answer. Realise you're talking to less than a handful volunteers doing this on their free time. You also haven't provided any information about the map it happens on other than it maybe being procedurally generated. There are a lot of biomes in the game rmbiome in ps/trunk/binaries/data/mods/public/maps/random – Wildfire Games so narrowing it down would help (Here it's apparently Sahara.json). Also finding the leaves decal name or terrain (in this case Sahara Sand 03), using atlas would save time.5 points

Given how toxic the chat becomes, I'm pretty sure it would be way worse with vocal chat.3 points

Dear developers: It would be great if we can talk to in-game players through the lobby. Often, we would like spectators in another game to join a host that is waiting for players, but that running game host may not allow late specs, so we cannot reach them. Hence, if there can be a feature which notifies playing or spectating players of any lobby messages, it would be great. Heli2 points

Congrats you found a bug that exists since A20! It was indeed an art problem (looked at the wrong files above whoops) https://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser/ps/trunk/binaries/data/mods/public/art/actors/structures/britons/wooden_tower.xml?rev=18938 Fixed in Changeset 27571 – Wildfire Games2 points

This is a free game and few people work very hard to develop it without any remuneration so I am really surprised to read these kinds of unfortunate and ironic reviews. Perhaps you could try a more constructive and positive approach and you will surely get better responses.2 points

Right, for attack I agree. Maybe only +20% attack over champ, not much more. But regardless, you still want heroes to have great health or armor (either one) so that you have time to utilize their bonuses or auras. Due to the nature of focus-fire in the game it would be too easy to snipe heroes otherwise.2 points

Dear developers, Sometimes, when a player disconnects from a game, they rejoin as a spectator. For example it happened to 0AD2121 today: The most common solution is to delete all cache files and reboot, which solves the problem. However, it would be great to eliminate this bug from the very beginning. In addition, multiplayer games with AI always result in OOS error, is there a way to fix this? Best, Heli1 point

Actually all voice chats that I've been to are surprisingly civilised. The reason is, many player's first language isn't English so they feel no shame when they type vulgar stuff. But when it comes to speaking, the experience is more involved and they would think about social interactions. Hence they are more well behaved in voice chats. You have a choice to leave the voice chat if you want.1 point

Its already possible to do this, but I think the key difference would be the cases where the answer the spec has to give is very simple answer such as "champions" or even "yes/no" in response to a more pointed question. guess it comes down to a choice: specs accessing global chat and not reading team's chat, or specs being able to read team chat but not write to global chat. I am not sure which is better/ which people would want. I just think the entertainment value of spectating games would be a lot more if specs could see what teams are planning/discussing.1 point

@ffffffff's mod also allows you to hear pings from the lobby even when you are in a game. Maybe someone can forge this feature into a mod since fgod was discontinued1 point

You have the wrong idea, and not everyone is trained in the same areas. Most of us have things to do, the other part is not active for years, especially since 2021 we lost almost all the art team, especially the 3D. The 2D is me who is a volunteer and Wow....1 point

By the looks this is probably Sahara desert biome on Mainland. I was able to re-produce what he described: But I think the round leaves here doesn't affect the gameplay at all. If you are very serious then turn on my abstractGUI mod and that will remove all these fancy stuff. Also the leaves' edges decay first and after some time of rotting, they become round-shaped blobs like this. Notice that there are larger leaves trees around as well. Overall I think it's not important, not even a bug.1 point

Yesterday i played a game with "opiest " on lobby, i've got heavily rushed the whole game my only descent wood-line was really near my opponent. I did my best to not collapse and make as much kill as i can at every rush hoping to slow my border, until my pocket came ready for heavy attack. Could i've manage thoses rushes better? What's are you tips for thoses situations? Our team won at the end, btw ! File attached if you want to see replay Thx Vrayer metadata.json commands.txt1 point

An enet package might be much larger than the MTU, then fragmentation is done based on MTU of both peers (server/client). That would be futile as it won't update the MTU on the side of the peer. Given the information in this thread so far the issue is not on your end, but you can ofc fix the issue on the other end if it's mtu related by lowering your enet mtu at the cost of possibly making all other connections less efficient at the same time. Attached a cleaner patch without sanity checks that allows setting mtu in config or via command line, ie. pyrogenesis -conf=network.mtu:1392 Anyway not yet convinced that this is the actual issue, yes might be, but still waiting for the output of the original ping command from @Helicity to confirm. enet-mtu.patch1 point

Okay, Helicity and I did some testing, and we discovered that it's probably caused by the bug related to hero garrison with regicide mode. Helicity said that sternstaub recommended that he check for that bug and disable persist match settings. Merely disabling persist match settings was not enough, though. Here is how to fix the bug related to hero garrison and regicide mode. Except that Helicity couldn't find matchsettings.json or matchsettings.mp.json. So, I hosted a game with a non-random map, such as Acropolis Bay. Helicity connected, and unlike when I was hosting with a random map like Mainland, he did not get disconnected. Then I enabled Regicide mode. Helicity noticed an error message that pointed toward the hero garrison bug. I enabled hero garrison, then disabled it. Then I switched to a randomly generated map (Mainland). And, Helicity did NOT get disconnected this time. Success. Later, with Helicity's "normal settings" (with community-mod and other mods?) the problem returned. So, there is still some troubleshooting to do. Note that there were some files in Helicity's mods/user directory, which is like having an extra stealth mod enabled that changes unexpected files. Files don't belong there for non-developer users, so we made a backup of those files and deleted them. It didn't fix the problem, but it is something else to watch out for in the future. The next step for troubleshooting would be to narrow down a setting or mod that is a minimal way to reproduce the symptoms. Note that there are three places where settings are stored for the game. There's default.cfg, local.cfg and user.cfg. Check in each of those paths for matchsettings.mp.json and matchsettings.json, and check in each of those config files for settings related to hero garrison. Backup any data that you remove before removing it so that we can identify the root cause(s) of the problem. If you choose to remove default.cfg then reinstalling the game will restore it to the correct state. Another clue: Helicity said that he neither hosted a game nor played as a player of a game involving regicide. However, he did spectate a game involving regicide. Developers, is there a way for match settings to become persistent in the game other than matchsettings.mp.json? It's strange that the problem would even happen without regicide mode enabled. Maybe there is a different root cause that induces the same symptoms as the hero garrison+regicide bug. Helicity, can you please provide a copy/paste of the console messages about the JavaScript errors related to the infinite loop, please?1 point

Hello! I never played online (only on our home network), so am very likely not entitled to suggest something here, but maybe you allow me nevertheless. How about offering players to star well-behaving other players? Those with a good reputation would be preferred gaming partners and others could be simply ignored. Again, please accept my sincere apologies if I wrote nonsense here.1 point

That means that many downloaded the mod. I still have the idea of making an updater/ patcher(This psychologically would make the transition/acceptance easier).1 point

Helicity reported verbal abuse from DoctorOrgans in a team game on March 4, 2023 at 11:30 to 11:50 UTC. GUID E4E25B1B022557AC: lol gg i leave with this behaviours idiots DoctorOrgans (1853): :D One user, referenced by GUID instead of user name, disconnected before the CPlayerAssignmentMessage, so we couldn't determine with certainty the player's name. However, based on context, Helicity said that the player was probably wang_wei or Marre-Vrickad. Attached is the mainlog.html excerpt as it was sent to me by @Helicity. He copy/pasted the text into a forum PM instead of attaching it. Note that the forum software automatically replaces some Terms of Use infringing words with strings of characters like "@#$%". In the future, please attach the file so that the forum software doesn't auto-censor infringing words. Multiple people had some language in the conversation like profanity and pejoratives. I encourage everyone to simply collect evidence and report misconduct instead of engaging in "retaliation". I see that DoctorOrgans had the majority of problematic language. As lobby moderators, we don't moderate in-game conduct. Except, sometimes we do if it's bad enough. Please report future events. mainlog_excerpt.html0 points
