Redundant units are pointless. Why not just make them different. We could pretty easily adjust the stats so they aren't exactly the same. As for two options, (1) make chariots quicker but weaker; and/or (2) make chariots stronger but more expensive.3 points

If you want to do something like that, I would just give one extra horse (like how kush gets a healer at the start) and keep the starting 4 women. Unless there is good hunt, the proposal will really slow down Persia's boom, which is already slow. For reference, a simple test shows that the proposal will result cause to already being 20 seconds slower at 20 pop (and that one extra cav unit will be a drag on the boom). With the proposal, I suspect no one would ever play Persia in team games because they would be too slow. In other words, 4 starting women and 1 cav can make an extra cav unit and still be about 20 seconds faster by the 20 pop mark. So 4 starting women is always superior. If there isn't extra hunt (i.e., no need to make a second cav unit, then 4 starting women will become much, much faster2 points

Thanks @woodpecker and @sarcoma. The idea of filtering/weighting replays according to the date has been brought to attention multiple times (for example by @seeh and @BreakfastBurrito_007) and seems to be a must-have. I guarantee this will be implemented in a future version of the LocalRatings mod. Besides a new match filter that takes into consideration the replay date, I am imagining a customizable "weighting function" that assigns a weight of 1 to the most recent replay and slowly decreases back in time, according to user-given parameters. Thinking out loud, such function could be linear, logarithmic, a step function or even we can let the user choose among multiple possibilities. If any of you has thoughts / references / expertise feel free to give a comment. PS: thanks to all of you who are proposing new ideas, @real_tabasco_sauce, @Sevda and @rossenburg among others. I am happy to see that the LocalRatings mod has raised interest in many players. Although I am not responding to all comments, I am taking all suggestions and their feasibility into consideration.2 points

Would it be smart to have more weight on, lets say, the last 20 games, less weight on the 20 previous to that and games before that again very little weight? To me that makes sence as people get better, but in different tempo. What matters is how you perform lately, right?2 points

Overall I enjoyed my first game in A26, pretty smooth. However... There's still this abhorrent glitch where some renegade border mark can go airborne. I reported it a few versions back, nobody seemed to care... I liked the golden laurels better, but oh well. I still think it's hideous how the numbers are cut off in the stats. I intentionally posted the whole screen shot to illustrate how much space there is to the side and the bottom. No chance to make the columns or rows flexible? And I still find it ridiculous to not round the numbers. Do we really need positions after the decimal point? And if so, do we really need more than one or two? The number for my used wood is cut off on two sides. Why chose a format to present numbers where said numbers aren't presented properly?2 points

With an additional horse you would be able to collect twice as much food and therefore train more women, reducing training time considerably. But for that to happen you need to change the start putting everyone on the wood, continuing home early. It's this kind of change I hope to have1 point

As long as the minimal supported resolution is 1024x768 we can't just enlarge all elements and we haven't enough people working on the GUI to make everything adaptive.1 point

Instead of simply buffing their health, a neat way to reflect on the scythes used is to add an area damage to any unit in close proximity. I am suggesting a nerfed version of the Wei Qing hero, who already does this. In the mean time, we can double the food cost (to account for 2 crews and 2 horses) and decrease their turn rate to reflect their lack of agility compared to a single cavalry. Furthermore, since there is a dedicated pilot, the other crew is always free to shoot arrows. Therefore we can implement a turret mechanic: being able to shoot while moving, although not very accurately.1 point

In my opionion, having both the chariot and the cav archer is fine. It doesn't hurt your gameplay or balance, meanwhile it keeps singleplayers and noobs entertained. Furthermore, it helps with the 'civ differentiation' argument. In the future we can give some additional features to the chariots, for example, tramping enemy soldiers, slashing units close to it.1 point

The pathfinder overhead was greatly reduced by using more CPU cores (on things that have them at least) Nowadays graphics and javascript simulation are quite big on performance. Wraitii made a patch to reduce some performance loss due to the AI (data was copied to it which is slow)1 point
