I think this is a good point to move to the next verse. Since 0AD is a community project I give all of you the chance to add paragraph or improve existing ones. Remember for a good anthem we need 10+ paragraphs.3 points

I think we need to try some opportunities for differentiating civs. I recently made a mod change gameplay as a whole, but a more conservative approach would be to only differentiate a few factions. Also since gameplay mainly stays the same, people do not need to adapt as much to the new settings to enjoy the game. I differentiated the following factions: Athenians: Can now reasearch economic technologies for 50% less metal. Coupled with the extra metal mining speed this encourages players to use p2 earlier than other factions. Gauls; Can now train fanatics for -20 metal in 15 seconds. This should allow fanatic rushes to be more succesful. Also the slinger becomes available in p2 in the CC, which means that if you go to p2 early without barrack, you can use that precious stone to train infantry (slingers). Kushites: Can build small pyramids for 150 stone in p1 and have 50 meter aura. This makes their eco unique. Mauryans: Can build pillars in p2. Pillars reduce the research time of nearby structures by 50%. Persians: Can now train spear cavalry in p1 at the CC as well as jav cav. Their skirmishers cost -20 wood and have -20% attack. Having access to the skirmisher is an now a bigger advantage for the boom, encouraging Persians to reach p2 earlier. Their CS melee cav and archer cav is now better(see below) also encouraging p2 play more. It also creates a quantity of quality approach for Persian infantry. Romans: Can open/close the doors of Janus in the temple. When closed the temple has no additional aura. When opened Infantry trains 20% faster and need -20% experience for promotion but they gather resources 20% slower. Spartans: Skiritai are now rank 2 but move 30% faster. I am curious to see if faster speed is more fun than bare strength. Also I want to add a few minor balance changes Archer v skirms changes Archery tradition is 50% cheaper, but requires p2 (a net buff as nobody would do the tech in p1 anyway) Iberian team bonus only reduces the food cost of skirmishers by 10%. Cavalry changes: Rome/Iber Champion cavalry nerf: Rome cav loses 2 pierce&hack armor, while Iber champ cav loses 9 pierce attack. Merc cav now cost 95 metal. Spear cav gets +1 hack/pierce armor and axe cav gets +2 hack and +1 pierce armor. Promoting CS units from rank 2 to 3 now requires +50% XP Melee infantry get +9.1% attack (NB This also affects the skiritai and fanatic). ps: I also worked on another mod and posted at the forum earlier. None of these platforms try to force one account per one physical person and their terms of service doesn't prohibit it either. In fact, its extremely rare for even games to have an actual restriction of the sort. Even for games that actively prohibit smurfing, its not under a one account per legal person clause, but a more specific "boosting" clause. Usually its just one account per license in commercial games. There is also an incentive to not limit the accounts. Ironically, the registration terms of this very forum doesn't prohibit multiple accounts.2 points

I spent a lot of time away from the game missing the last part of a23 and completely all of a24 due to life and pc issues. Back during a23 I used to enjoy messing around with Millenium AD civs and was wondering what happened to it.1 point

For structural dame I have ideas. Some inspiration. it can be done to full texture. I'm not asking for full realistic that bring the buildings broken into particles. With only deterioration textures, you get the idea when you see it.1 point

How? What tools? So far I have not been banned for making more than 1 forum accounts, and I don't want to be banned of course. I haven't done anything bad with the additional accounts. I just gave them to different people. It is even easier to make smurf forum accounts than smurf accounts in game: VPN, privacy browser (e.g. duckduckgo, TOR), tempmail. You can't even ban by hardware ID or IP address. Also, reading the forum doesn't need good connection so using a VPN is perfectly ok. Similarly, you can spam smurf accounts in discord, instagram, gmail, outlook...1 point

Unfortunately sad face is no more. Literally none of the characters in sad face is allowed anymore. elexis deleted the account because I forgot the password to recreate it and the name was no longer valid. I used not so sad smiley account and got banned for multiple accounts IIRC. Who knows... I visited the lobby once in 2020 or something, and most people I played with were also gone. Even that nub barca is no where to be seen. ggs from sad face.1 point

saw something interesting last days. new player comes from other RTS games and wins vs most 1900 players and stronger. i really believe he is not a smurf. i chat sometimes with him. but something is crazy for me. we informed him to not use the older version (not his 25b) so he could get rating. rating don't work in his games. but days later he still has not upgrades to last version. i wonder that. what could be a reason for that? i was observer/spec of some of his 1v1 games. looks normal and very fast booming. what's maybe the reason that some don't so much time to upgrade or don't want upgrade? maybe he modified the game and build and installed modified version? [UPDATE] he get now some ratings. its dosent matter who is the host. game vs noob , noob hosted. and Deathwing- gets points. game vs borg- Deathwing- won but get no points, but borg- was host also1 point

Philly cheesteak sandwich, this is a very american dish if you can't already tell XD. Theres a lot of division however: some people say no peppers, several different cheeses may be used, but most of the time the steak is shredded or thinly sliced ribeye. To cook it, you first caramelize onions, grill the steak, (and peppers if you want). Then, depending on the cheese, you either add it to the final sandwich, or toss it into the steak and onions. The bun should be toasted on the grill too. Traditionally a "Hoagie" bun is used but really the better the bread the better the sandwich. Don't worry about mayo, since this is already a one way trip to obesity. Not a health food1 point

I think it would be interesting(even though it's probably not feasible), that since as we know the Roman economy boomed during war time, whereas outside of war time they racked up serious debt problems and slower economy. What if maybe based on soldier count the Roman eco benefits when there are more quantity of soldiers giving certain bonuses when above 60% compared to total population ratio of men to women and remains stable when its under say 60% compared to total population ratio of men to women. Then suffers when the percentage falls below a certain number (say 25%) compared to total population ratio of men to women. With maybe a 5 second reduction on tech research if the bonus is in effect, and maybe a couple seconds off of batch training time. It also brings up the thought of a timer of last battle or fighting activity that helps that bonus. As I said this timer idea doesn't seem too feasible in case of multiplayer especially, where unless you suicide a soldier or use rush strategy it doesn't really add to the gameplay, more to depth. Just a thought towards the differentiation wouldn't mind hearing what y'all think of eco bonuses to Rome and civs in general in "wartime".1 point

I think the different ranged units should ideally be well balanced. If the Iberian team bonus gives a major boost to skirmishers, then it upset the balance no matter how skirmishers are balanced. Currently skirmishers are a lot better than archers. Adding the Iberian bonus only adds insult to injury for the archer player. In A24, skirmishers with the Iberian team bonus weren't awful. However it meant that having skirmishers was no fun without the Iberian team bonus.1 point

Okay, I was experimenting a bit with fire / damage (only on an aesthetical level, not as "burning" mechanic), and I have a couple of feedbacks: - The effect, while artisanal, is pretty good! Is very nice to see the damage progression that you inflict to the buildings and it really adds a layer of depth in the gameplay - Flames and smoke are also a nice touch. It works well with rams too, without looking so "weird" as some people feared (that's my impression..) - - - - - - - - However: - Rams are, as usual, too fast/strong in destroying buildings. It takes a couple of thrusts and any building already collapses. This is nothing new in the game but I always found it a bit "weird", because buildings seems super fragile with rams. While they should be a bit more "sturdy". - I think the strength of rams comes from a gameplay necessity: it can't take too long to destroy a building for obvious reasons. But the mechanic comes off as weird and unrealistic - - - - - - - - So I thought of a compromise: - What if, instead of destroying buildings so fast, you just need to reach a critical point (25% of health?) and the building then is "de-activated" (gaia?). Fortress/towers won't shoot arrows and barracks can't be used to train soldiers. Then, only at this point, is possible to capture it. Or you have to repair it to regain functions. (or burn it mercilessly to the ground) - I think that, by using visual cues of damage it could actually make sense to have this sort of distinction. - This way, buildings can have more resistance to ram thrusts (more realistic), but at the same time this won't compromise the gameplay, as you don't need so much extra time to get a building and change the whole balancing during sieges. - I think it could be both realistic and also it could be an alternative to the weird mechanic of conquer + demolish that I, among many, find annoying. I don't know if it's the right place to discuss it. But I thought it may be relevant connected with visual improvements of damaged buildings. And also it could be integrated with the idea of "burning" the buildings (maybe after 25% of health the building health slowly depletes itself anyway?)
