  1. maybe some bug like this https://trac.wildfiregames.com/changeset/23918 has been happening all along and people are jumping to conclusions

  2. I don't know if it can properly answer the problem, but I suggest to check out the mod Delenda Est (if I'm not mistaken it has been updated to the current version of 0ad). It still follows the main game concept of territory restriction, but it allows to build some economic buildings (storehouses, farmfields ecc..) outside the territory, so you can grab already some strategic resources in the map. I find it's a pretty cool compromise of keeping the features of the game, while allowing some freedom. Otherwise I know this mod was in development: But I don't have informations about that. @wowgetoffyourcellphone probably would know better

  3. I for one love the way that looks, the minimap feels much more modern and complete this way! I also see the change being extremely useful, you can actually understand what's going on instead of having to guess from the little dots / squares currently used to represent buildings (I often confuse them with resources). For both reasons a big +1 from me, I'd be thrilled if this change made it into the next release!

  4. Guys .. super random question : what's the status of Millenium AD? Looking at the forum, it seems like it's been a couple of years that it has been abandoned, but I don't know if there's still interest in the mod. I think it was pretty cool to have a medieval version of the game and - not gonna lie - with AOE around it would be very much needed! Thanks Yekaterina for bringing it up and working to optimize it for the current version! But also: is there a way to contribute to keep it alive from an artistic POV? (meaning concept art/modelling/visual design..) . I'm considering this possibility, but also I have no idea if there's some interest behind, or if the focus of the dev team is on the future releases and optimizations of the main game? Sorry for the random comment ehehe I'm just trying to understand how it works here, I'm a total noob

  5. I just tried Wild Lake, and it's hilariously messed up. I can say that the new biome work didn't touch the random map scripts, at least on my end. There really needs to be a function in the scripts that puts a "civic space" around the starting CC with no resources or trees inside this area. I've crowed for years now that the random map scripts need to do this, it's just extra pronounced on Wild Lake, but it really also applies to all of the others too.

  6. It's not yet as there are legal issues regarding the usage of gpl license software in the store and signing the application.

  7. This new random map will probably get into the next release of Community Maps. It's mostly Mainland with some elements of Latium added. The res and trees, etc. are the same as Mainland vanilla. Any suggestions for it? Other opinions?

  8. Are there Trac and Phab tickets for something like this? Perhaps a <MiniMapIcon>*.png</MiniMapIcon> tag in the <Identity> component?

  9. At the very least their removal and replacement should be strongly considered. 0 AD attempts to represent factions at their zenith. Cleopatra was reigning when the Ptolemies were in decline; she might be iconic, but that does not change the fact. Agis III reigned when Sparta was at most a minor regional power. The Spartan golden age could be considered immediately following the Peloponnesian War, but during the Persian Wars and up to the Battle of Leuctra would be a more general point. Agis IV died heroically, but so did many other kings. As a final note, having more hitpoints is just boring. Agesilaus II would be an objectively better king to select in my completely unbiased opinion. Iphicrates suffers from the same problem. The Golden Age of Athens could be regarded as from the Persian Wars up to the end of the Peloponnesian War. He is simply after that. I would argue for someone like Miltiades who could have a similar function.

  10. Another simple but powerful idea I wanted to suggest: What are your thoughts on implementing a tiny stat boost / unboost based on the territory your units are standing on? Whether for health or how well an unit preforms in combat or some other unit stat. It would be identical to how a hero boosts the strength of units close to them but for territory. It's based on the idea that when near their home, soldiers feel safer and can preform better... when in an enemy's territory by comparison, they're more scared and might preform a bit more poorly. The phase of the territory you're standing on should increase the effect, thus village is weaker (it's a small and weak place) town is normal (a larger and more crowded establishment) and city is stronger (big city so more reason to feel safe / scared). Optionally there could be a bravery upgrade that can be researched to mitigate this. The gameplay effect would of course be that attackers have a somewhat harder time conquering an enemy base. I envision it as something among the following lines: Own territory, +1.0 boost: Soldiers are fighting in their home and feel braver. Allied territory, +0.5 boost: Soldiers are fighting in the territory of an ally, they feel safer but it's not their own home, halved boost effect. Neutral territory, 0.0 boost: Units are battling in a place owned by no one or a neutral faction, no buff / debuff. Enemy territory, -1.0 boost: Your army is alone on the enemy's land, they're nervous and may have a harder time preforming.

  11. I'd say add a cliff texture along the shoreline, assuming you don't want any naval access.

  12. I am going to design the final version of this. I lost the original. the photo of this is a kind of water supply in a town 64 km from the capital. This is exactly a "naciente". It is exactly my concept of water supply, since it is in a rural area, with almost no industrial technology, primitively molded by human beings, at most stones and concrete, wood, The rest is all natural and caused by mountain water.

  13. I like these types of images, it gives us an idea of what a terrain looks like on a fairly large scale.

  14. Yet, she was massively influential. Ptolemy II isn't a bad choice either. Too bad the game can't have more than 3 heroes. Agesilaus II and Cleomenes III are definitely better choices than Agis III. Iphicrates isn't bad. He did pretty much win a war against Sparta single-handedly. Miltiades is a good choice though, along with Aristides and maybe Thucydides.

  15. In my example, the wonder is represented by the diamond, which was easier to make with pixel art.

  16. The wonder should have a star.

  17. @leitoso If it happens again u can make a copy of mainlog.html file before restarting 0ad (every time u open 0ad this files is reseted and u lose the info). Ofc, as an editable file, is not a deffinitive proof and it should be neccesary some screenshots to confirm the data. But is still a very good way to analyze data after the ddos/troll event occurs. If u r under windows u can find mainlog.html in C:\Users\$YOUR_USER\AppData\Local\0ad\logs\ Replace $your_user with your user ofc xD EDIT: here's a link with a list of usefull paths https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths

  19. Would discourage rushes and favour turtling. Terrible if implemented in 1v1 games

  20. If something segfaults, you get or error window or whole game crashes without telling you anything, it doesnt just slow down your connection.

  21. Small typo there. Allow me to show how it could be rewritten: "I think Sparta without Spartans is weird, and it is also unique to have only one champion unit and let it be available early." Jokes aside, I don't see non-citizens as a champion being a good candidate despite the mechanics you proposed being interesting. Those individuals seemed to be rather rare. Xenophon probably only was able to get such an education for his children due to his personal friendship with Agesilaus. To me the skiritae unit virtually occupies the second champion slot despite being a citizen soldier. There are definite problems with its current state (why is it so slow?) that I think would make it not just a beefy legionnaire. Removing champions in fact might be a good way of improving diversity. Rome for instance, had horrendous cavalry compared to that of Carthage, leading to much of Hannibal's success, yet in game their consular bodyguards are considered first rate. I would strongly advise removing it to better establish Rome as a predominantly infantry and siege based civilisation. Why does the bodyguard exist? Because the commandments of game design dictated that all civilisations should only have two available champions at the time.

  22. I have slightly edited the code for Millenium AD mod for A24 on github. Can @Stan` and @Lion.Kanzen give me permission to push please?

  23. You definitely will because it still hasn't been fixed yet. https://code.wildfiregames.com/D1729 I am pretty sure it has been there since the map was created. I only found it in Jan 2019, and even then is close to three years ago.

  24. I abandoned the game because I couldn't place a marketplace. Screw that. I doubt that I could have produced Egyptian units from the military colony as advertised, but since I won't capture it I won't know for sure.

  25. I don't know who screwed up what, but Wild Lake in a25 just sucks. Is anybody actually enjoying the 'feature' that you can't build anything around your CC? With the India biome it was so terrible that I abandoned the game. With the Agean-Anatolian biome I hoped it would be better, but it still is terrible. Not only is it still a pain in the averywhere to build anything, but it also somehow breaks the AI. Repeatedly I had workers like this one neither being idle nor clearing the terrain but just standing around. THE HECK??!? (Wild Lake never was nor is balanced, just given the distribution of treasures and Gaia units.)

  26. Not really, if they put pikemen and archers in the same formation, you'll end up attacking the pikemen anyway.

  27. Hi everyone, I just uploaded a new video on my channel of you are interested. It's a commentary of an interesting 1v1 I had with @ValihrAnt two days ago (we both experimented not common civilization strategies) :))

  29. The cursor symbols are great. Scout is fast, I love it. "Autoscout" would be fantastic, like a button to switch and go to any black spot on the map automatically. Maybe I need to get used to it, but "cheese" is the first thing that comes to mind when I see these gold blocks. Only one person is allowed on the field, the soldier can't collect resources, that's both okay. But I can't even build buildings with soldiers, big yuck. I think they should be. The capturing of buildings is gone, but destroying buildings takes quite a long time, unless you have siege weapons. The enemy army took almost 3min to destroy a siege workshop while I pumped out 5 more rams. After researching "Unlock champions infantry" in the barracks, it tells me they are available in the barracks but end up in the fortress. This is your intention, just the info I get from the window is wrong. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

  30. When playing TG, everyone expects me to resign when my teammates loose and I'm last one left If I don't resign then host just closes the game while I have untouched kingdom with towers and large troops ready to defend. I know I'm not gonna win but I don't play to win. I play to have fun. Winning or loosing is part of the game. trying to defend is fun. We are all gonna die one day yet we still choose to live. This happened multiple times in TG So I asked the host (NoobDude) and told him that this is rude. By doing so, I was kicked from lobby for using bad language (I guess calling some1 'rude' is bad now huh)
