  1. The reasons aren't publicly visible as far as I know though but in @ffffffff's case, I really can't understand why he needs to be reminded of why calling people certain words really isn't talking about them in a nice way. Having a reason displayed for people, as well as clearly stating where they should go to explain the situation would probably help make people accept and learn from their mistakes. Especially since that way they won't have to feel as if creating a new account is the only way to discuss what has happened.

  2. I also just tested the mod today, and recorded a little game. I can't really say much about the balance and other things because the meta has yet to be invented on multiplayer i believe. The high number of techs and civ bonuses certainly can open a wide number of possibilities. The issues i could see are that corrals seems a hell lot better than fields (though only played one game and barely tested fields, but from what i see it seems obvious to me). Also, temple unloading zone is wrong (with gauls at least). Units unload at the heal aura frontier instead of just near the building. Useful to climb mountains :) Will try to upload that one game i played against the AI. There you may also see some unwanted things such as soldiers doing all the building tasks.

  3. Not precisely: I learned to type with a system rather reminiscent of that idea. Typing without two-spaces seems alien to me, but I'm okay with seeing other people do it. Sorry if I caused anyone distress through my spacing tendencies; that is not at all my intentions and I express my humblest apologies possible without being insincere.

  4. In that case I let the moderators explain their reasons to you, but the way you are talking here would certainly warrant a mute on the forums as well. You are being disrespectful, crude and insulting and you are making the whole community ashamed. I don't think you know what freedom of speech is, by the way (using those words on the Internet will always get you this link).

  5. A friend recommended 0AD to me three says ago. I've been dipping into it. I'm pretty impressed. I speak as a former senior dev on Battle For Wesnoth, so I have a better idea than most what's required to produce a game like this. Some of you might recognize me for...other things. Well done, everybody. I partiicularly like the attention to historical detail; I can recognize authenticity in the costumes and architecture. This kind of collaboration - attracting more talent than any single proprietary shop can afford to hire - is one of the strengths of open source. I'm expecting great things of the eventual 1.0 version.

  7. I wouldn't want Wendy to feel alone in this, so I'll join his side partly with another example. I've seen a well known player getting muted after he started to complain about other player's behavior or some injustice that had happened in a game. He might or might not have used a bad word, but I wouldn't even notice because his outrage seemed to be rightful. The mute looked kind of funny, as if the moderator tried to protect the real offender. It felt like focusing on spelling mistakes while ignoring an important point. Other than that, I am sure that directly warning people that commit a lobby offence has a much better effect. I know that at least elexis or user1 often do exactly this. But I still agree that adding a mandatory reason will go a long way. In my opinion, the name of the authoring moderator should also be included. Why not? There should be a room for a complaint and the players should know who to address it to. As I mentioned before, some of the mutes could feel like a trolling behavior of the moderator and that is much harder to do with your name written next to it. Let's not argue about this one point: there are some moderators known to be trolls.

  8. Hmm. Any number of mods could use it. I might just take visible garrisoning out if not.

  9. Lack of interpunction is also slightly unpleasant (I didn't write "difficult", mind) to read Also, "the" standard is relative; I have dozens of 20th C books and even a few from the 19th C, however, I just checked, none of them is typeset with two spaces after a full stop. On the other hand, typewriting is a category somewhere in between manuscripts and printed media; yours is an interesting suggestion. There is no need to apologize. You did not cause distress. At least not to me. I was just curious. Therefore I asked. To me, using more than one space suggests sentences do not belong together. As if they all could have been in separate paragraphs. Like this. It's not difficult to read. But it's unusual. Therefore it catches the eye. And somewhat distracted me from the words itself. Unconventional typesetting can have that effect. Anyway, it might just be me. Thank you for your reply.

  11. In both A22 and A23 the Seleucids have the following unit roster: barracks: infantry spearman, infantry pikeman, infantry javelinist, and cavalry javelinist (all village phase) and horse archer (town phase) military colony: infantry swordsman, infantry archer, cavalry spearman (all town phase mercenaries) fortress: infantry pikeman, infantry swordsman, cavalry spearman, chariot, and war elephant (all city phase champions) and stone thrower and siege tower (both city phase siege engines) They have no battering rams, bolt shooters, infantry slingers, or cavalry swordsmen, however, the game would be a bit boring if all civilizations would have a fully complete unit roster.

  12. RolandSC2 -> my Blizzard tag from years of playing Starcraft II (found the game when Wings of Liberty released, so I never played the original). Roland is the central protagonist in the Black Tower magnum opus by Stephen King. Didn't see the movie, but I suspect it's entirely different from the books. I work from home in Ohio, US in an enterprise IT field. Unfortunately I speak no language other than English and a bit of Mandarin. Be gentle with me players from South America. Have enjoyed matches with many of you already. See you online.

  14. Heh. Those are great but things like being able to set what territory classes a structure will decay in seem more important, or making damage bonuses something sane rather than "meleeCavalryBonus".

  16. I guess the reason behind sele is that it's a very recent civ which unlike Kushites was included before being finished See DE for more units ideas. also see the respective design document

  18. One thing I quickly noticed when reviewing the existing civs was that a lot of our civs have extremely thin unit rosters. Like sele, which has exactly 3 infantry units and 2 cavalry. How are you supposed to create an RPS balance system with only 5 units, most of which aren't even counters to each other? Some civs are ok but for a lot them there's just not enough there to work with.

  19. Cavalry and chariots shows as garrisoned in fortress (probably in other fortifications too), and the upgrading tooltip of some units to experience levels, shows a citizien-soldier reference (saying that they gets worse working when leveling up)

  31. I'm not talking for the lobby moderators, who are doing a fantastic job by the way, but we want to have (your words) a "loyal community" who enjoys the lobby and want to "have a nice game after a workday", and they probably don't want to see you shout bad words and creating new accounts to bypass the blocking of your bad words. Considering the way you are complaining I don't think this thread requires an official answer from the moderators, unless they want to (but thanks Stan for pinging them). What is required is that you think a bit about why you were muted in the first place (you probably know the reason very well) and also think whether you want to stay banned or accept to make some efforts to play the game respectfully, like most players.
