Tomcelmare
It's true the current dome looks like a chimney from some kind of industrial revolution era building...making the building not so dark, and maybe adding some gold woould improve the general looking, for me at least, because byzantines used to be the wealthiest power of their time, and they were not shy about it
wowgetoffyourcellphone
Imho the Roman cc should be the upper limit as far as footprint size of cc. Tge Byz one looks to exceed that.
wackyserious
We must follow the color palette of the Theodosian walls. The dominant color must be a light colored brick. Plus the red brick must be thinner than lighter bricks and the sections it occupies must be thinner too compared to the rest of the sections. (Or this could vary per building) I think those plastered/repaired sections should be introduced as props. A combination of meshes and alpha-channel texture materials.
wackyserious
Here is a high resolution image reference. Although I am not sure if this is from the right period that the mod covers. Here's another, an overview of the city coastline. On the lower left side, you can see potential references for the dock building

Alexandermb
Barracks, no reference used just something similar to roman barracks What i have in mind with this is some building with enough beauty to be inside the city walls near houses whitout being weird so, closed training no common citizens should see who is training inside. LordGood
Roman barracks is not a good precedent, since it defies the standard barracks layout. It needs to be replaced. Your walls look a bit rough, look to real world fortifications for reference on crenellated battlements

What if i make that building and turn the one i've did last night into the blacksmith/armory? only needs to add some tools more barrels and chimney. Tomcelmare
@Alexandermb Great improvement! You should definitely keep the semi-circular building as a market
Skhorn
I think the barracks and the blacksmith seems weird, although you could leave those and make another variation, specially the blacksmith could be placed near walls. But on regular city buildings does not seem to fit, what if you remove the walls and add more random blacksmith props?
Sundiata
@Alexandermb, feel free to tell me when my critiques are becoming too much I think the CC textures look better than the barrack and blacksmith texture. CC texture is just a little too dark, that's all... Front side of the barracks is a little featureless. The chimney on the blacksmith could be more prominent. Alexandermb
The texture is brigther, it becomes darker when using parallax
Alexandermb
blacksmith whitout wall & barracks together (see the lower lines of the barracks how is dark and then brighter again thats not related to AO, is because of the parallax and whitout parallax it looks simple and ugly: Spoiler

wowgetoffyourcellphone
I'd just brighten everything up, including the roof. The rooftiles could be more of a Roman tile color.
