Chariots could be built from the Arsenal, where mechanical siege weapons are built. Trample: Yes. Chariots, Elephants, and Cataphracts could get trample effect. Chariots could be a suicide unit in that regard. Could maybe have a death splash damage. Population: Agreed. Chariots can be 2 pop. Slow Acceleration: Agreed. Cost: 200 Food, 200 Wood? I would suggest Javelineers could have a +50% attack bonus vs. Chariots, as javelin-throwing light troops were often employed to defeat them. All of this, plus my "rider hopping" feature (see video) could make them really unique.3 points

I used to play Commandoes when I was 12. I really loved playing that game and had played all of its parts. Ever since I have grown up I have been looking everywhere in search of commandos without any luck. But, now I have found a better version of commandos in wildfire games and cannot wait for another second to play it. Cannot thank you enough.2 points

performance issues are in fact killing the game play. Also if hardware specifications are not good enough for advanced graphics 0AD should not allow users to turn that settings on or a really annoying warning message so that they will turn it off themselves, This could help other players in Team games because someone told me that game run as fast as the slowest hardware in play.2 points

For A27, I'd like to make mixins for the Cataphract and Chariot classes of units. Mixins are essentially like "trait" files that can add to or amend stats to different templates. So, I can create a "Cataphract" mixin that changes the Champion Cavalry Spearman templates for specific civs whose champion cav are technically cataphracts, not just your standard cavalry spearman (similar to how pikemen aren't just uber spearmen). So, what we have to determine is what makes a Cataphract different from a standard champion spear cavalry unit. Same goes for Chariots vs. Cavalry Archers/Javelineers. First, the Cataphract civs: Han Chinese Persians Seleucids Standard Champion Cavalry Spearman stats: Cost 150 food 80 wood 100 metal 25 seconds 1 pop Attack Damage 8 hack 6 pierce Range 4 Bonus 1.75x vs. Cavalry Repeat Time 1.25 seconds Damage Per Second (dps) 6.4 hack 4.8 pierce Bonus dps 11.2 hack 8.4 pierce Health 240 hp Resistance 8 hack 7 pierce 20 crush WalkSpeed 18 What can we do to make the Cataphract stand out from this? Additional armor, altered cost, attack stats, walk speed, etc. are all on the table.1 point

Unless it's a death trap? I had a few unpleasant experiences with units being trapped, that taught me to either stay out or make sure to move my whole army in to capture the CC; I'm wondering why you didn't do that. I think it would be a bit of a shame to remove the walls as they are unique to this civ, and since I sometimes exploit having a stupid villager opening the gates for me I'm also not really convinced of your second proposition either.1 point

Currently, champions are about 2 ranks above an elite citizen soldier. So, Champion Cav Spearmen will still remain uber even if Cataphracts have a slightly different role, cost, and stats. Cataphracts being different doesn't change those others from being what they always have been. They weren't overly effective, but they were used. Might as well make them interesting. I suggested they act like suicide units, which is pretty much how they were used.1 point

Acceleration would really be a lot better if the formation behavior was addressed. It's also not a bad feature for warships and rams, etc. Looks good for those.1 point

Right, the archer/javelineer in the car is a turret. I think too, chariots can act like in this video here, where when the chariot dies, the rider hops off and can continue fighting (though has a slow health drain and will eventually die on his own):1 point

My proposal: - Additional hack and pierce armor: Kataphraktos literally means armored - Additional metal cost: The additional armor should come from somewhere - Additional food cost: For heavier horses, not a priority like metal cost - Additional attack: Cataphracts used kontos which were longer than xyston used earlier - Speed: Here, I have an interesting idea. Instead of a speed adjustment, they could have lower acceleration, now that it is implemented. What would be super cool is, when charging is hopefully implemented, it would make cataphracts less viable to charge repeatedly. Instead, their role would be to slug out melee combat. This would differentiate them from other spear cavalry which deliver better results with repeated charging and pulling. In essense, this gives them a new combat role and players new tactical depth. I suggested Zelensky couple of weeks ago not as political agenda, purely to recognize the guy’s confidence and leadership. I have no horse in this fight. Fair point that he is not at all the game’s timeline, can’t refute that. But for those who get political and start talking about what he’s done or could do in the future, let’s not pretend like most of the past emperors, kings, etc have a spotless record…. They all have tons of blood and suffering on their hands yet get idolised across society and history books. I thought naming the new alpha after Zelensky could be a nice hommage to someone who arguably changed modern international politics (with the safety net of the west). Just my 2cts. Been playing the game for 5 years and will still play even if it’s called after Zrump.1 point

i was not sure the meaning in "Game Options" in "AutoCiv" of "default stance healers" but found helpful texts here: "Default ... If idle, and attacked, these scouts will run away in the direction of the player's nearest Civic Centre or Fortress." ( https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/13725-stances/ ) do you have recommendations? usually healers helpful near solders there are under attack. right? so they should not run away.1 point
