Keep in mind horses do not automatically imply cavalry. Mounted infantry (i.e. people who rode to battle but fought on foot) and true cavalry coexisted for centuries. Many, perhaps most, depictions of horsemen depicted on (Archaic) Greek and Italic pottery and frescoes are actually hoplites, not cavalry, e.g. Here are some excerpts on cavalry from Philip Sabin, Hans van Wees, Michael Whitby (eds.) The Cambridge History of Greek and Roman Warfare (Cambridge 2008): On pre-Hellenistic cavalry: And some more images: On Alexander's cavalry: On Hellenistic cavalry: On “Polybian” cavalry:3 points

Actually I would. Having multiple allies can make winning easier for you, especially if your allies are fighting each other. Assume a four-player random map with no starting teams. Early in game players B and C become neutral. Player A subsequently tries to ally with B, who refuses, then with C, who accepts. A also allies with D. All other combinations remain enemies. To win, A only has to defeat B, its only enemy; B must defeat enemies A and D and neutral C; C enemy D and neutral B; and D enemies B and C; A thus has the advantage. Different scenario: your ally is growing much faster than you, which annoys you, and is becoming quite powerful, which worries you. You'd prefer a weaker ally, but stabbing yours on your own is not a good idea, because he's much stronger and because you would remain at war with everyone else. The wiser strategy is to first ally one or two of your enemies and then declare war on your first ally. Divide et impera.2 points

Hello guys. Recently I'm playing all the time 1vs1 ranked games. During this time I passed through multiple games ending by leaving (not resigning) by my opponents. I was thinking what can be done to solve this problem and i invented something like that. In ranked match there can be only resigning option for both players to end the game before the time. Although I'm aware of the fact that sometimes match needs to be ended qucikly. For example if random map turns out to demonstration map or something like that there needs to be option for "RE'. So i inveted something like this. In multiplayer match there should be option like voting. For example: random map turns out to be demonstration map (nothing on it) so u can't play normal match. Then one of u starts voting for draw, second one agrees and match is ended without changes in score for both players. I think it can solve leaving problem in ranked matches. Tell me guys what do You think about my invetion and sorry for my english (I'm not english speaking person). Regards. Daniel_King1 point

A year had passed according to Gregorian calendar. Still: - no Fork AD initial release since the announce the 12/11/2018 - no Zero AD release since the 05/18/2018 Let's hope some news soon!1 point

Yes, it does; that's what I have on my machine and I doubt I'm the only one; you can also run multiple instances of the game simultaneously. If using mods, you have to remember disabling them before launching the other version, because they tend to be compatible with only one.1 point

On windows you can have just one installation of 0ad as far as I know. But you are free to have 0ad installed + (multiple) svn and/or github version(s) as they are not installed through windows system, they are just bunch of files.1 point

In the Game you can ally with the AI. Yesterday I tried something out. After allying with all the AI (5 in number) I won the game. And that’s a bit weird because the AI wasn’t allied with each other. So here’s my suggestion: if you ally with two AI but they aren’t allied with each other than one will say, either you quitt the Alliance or I won’t be you’re ally anymore. I hope I made my point clear and didn’t cause any confusion.1 point

Does it work fine to have two installations of the game? A23 and A241 point

Concern here is if ai should make ally with someone who is ally with her enemy. (would you ? I guess no)1 point

@Stan` I need a consensus to research a more properly model (the shield is the only inconvenient). Replace with Oscan-Italic Socii shield like Parma equestris and Clipeus.1 point

Yep. Both cultures emphasize horse and horsemanship in addition. Several element of the La Tene art are inspired by nomadic animal art. Silk has been found in a Hallstatt tomb, probably from trading with the Scythians.1 point

If I remember correctly the Scythian nomads had similar thing for horns so not surprising that a neighbouring culture echos it though it does kinda muddy the the origin evidence for either culture. Enjoy the Choice1 point

I understand you, I am suggesting that changing the map's water depth would be the fastest way to achieve your goal. Imho there are larger game issues atm to be addressed. For the GUI, I hesitate about calculating the additional pathfinding each turn. Hey why not rush a tower in that spot and perhaps with a house too, then you can build the dock further south?1 point

Looking beautiful. @Lion.Kanzen is right that's entities named Skirmish. When playing a game they are turned into whatever the player's civ is. You can look at other Skirmishes to see how it's done. Keep the great work @Ideaguy!1 point

Hello, here is another 1vs1 quitter: "AbsoluteNutt (1329)" 5 min after the game ended he started complaining that, I had an observer who told me everything and that I was cheating. I tried to tell him, that an observer can't sent messages to me in a 1vs1 game, but he didn't want to listen. @user1 here is this the file: commands.txt1 point
