  1. Sometimes I watch 0 A.D. videos to put me to sleep...
  2. Age of Empires always seemed to have cultures, rather than dynasties or factions. So, these new civs don't seem to fit at all, in my mind.
  3. Not sure these new civs fit into the theme of Age of Empires.
  4. I just ain't got time to convince someone that default unitAI behaviors greatly affect gameplay.
  5. What UnitAI does by default has a huge effect on the game meta, else this poll would not exist. Another motivation for changing it was that the capture mechanic is confusing for new players.
  6. I was under the impression we wanted to reduce the capture-delete mechanic.
  7. Right, but is that unitAI or player AI making the switch? I mean, for a human's units, they'll stand there and continue to attempt to capture the building until they are all massacred.
  8. I have no recollection of this, but apparently it made a big impact on you, so I apologize. If I were to be made leader I would merge DE instantly and make everyone angry.
  9. I imagine with a little bit of micro, you can make chopping a tree line, for example, a lot more efficient than having to place multiple storehouses. But compared to a Worker Elephant, not sure. Maybe Worker Elephants are the more expensive, tankier, and more versatile (able to build) version of a Storage Cart, while Storage Carts are cheaper and a bit faster moving. For Nomads, the Cart could unpack into a Yurt (house), further making it different from a Worker Elephant.
  10. Another thing to point out is that Storage Carts won't be able to construct buildings, which makes them different from Worker Elephants. That, plus cost, health, and speed differences.
  11. I personally dislike how easy it is to garrison a structure and make it 100% uncapturable. IMHO, if the players still want that, then UnitAI should automatically switch the attacking units from capture it attack. But perhaps this is not necessary since the default attack switch
  12. Possible/probable future civs which will have Storage Carts: Cimbri, Scythians, Xiongnu
  13. I think the main point would be that by spreading out your attacks, you are causing damage to a larger number of units and this is affecting those units' ability to fight back.
  14. I was just brainstorming a way to encourage spreading out one's attacks instead of constantly focus-firing.
  15. I've had the notion that soldiers could look grislier as their health goes down, but then I realized that it would cause hundreds of texture swaps per minute of combat time, which would greatly tax the graphic card and affect performance. The stats changes would be taken care of by the simulation code, which is computed on the processor, so that is much easier on performance.
  16. @Stan` really was the ideal project lead. He really knew his stuff and learned on the job very quickly.
  17. If you have 60 archers and the Persian enemy also has 60 archers, then no, they don't seem like a large intimidating force.
