  1. @nifa Pull Request: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/pulls/8775

  2. Agreed, I personally couldn't adapt, as sound feedbacks are so important. Knowing if something spawning, dying, or sometimes added to selection etc can be crucial. Here is a small mod to make all civilians have the sounds of the previously females citizens. CiviliansFemaleVoices.zip If you would also prefer with the actors changed to all females (for consistency for example) here is one that does that. CiviliansFemaleVoicesAndActor.zip

  3. Just to be clear, idle villager pointer adds a pointer in the top of every idle villager, it doesnt convert male villagers into women. I agree having the same voice sound of military units ads clutter. But I don't see why having a male model, totally different from the military models, adds clutterness too

  4. Maybe he’s just upset the villagers now have healthy relationships. Now they’re literally holding hands with “some other guy.” Devastating.

  6. Nice, I didn't realize that you could un-check all victory options, thanks! This is a good work-around for the time being, solves #1 and #2. It'd be nice to have a mod option, though, with some goals or peaceful "victory" options without setting all players to the same team. It doesn't work for the wonders/relic victories, for example, it just declares victory immediately if you are all on the same team. A. Yup, this "male worker only" mod relies on R28. Its just a simple hack to make it all male instead of random male/female. B. This will probably distract from the purpose of this thread Just my view and shared the mod in case anybody feels the same. Permanent ceasefire might be the way to create the peaceful mode, that's a good idea! I'll probably look into at some point. Is there a way to turn off allied victories in the vanilla game? That would be nice, then you could make/lose allies (I think) by whatever you do economically. Also, you could do the wonder/relic victories while being on the same team as everyone else.

  7. This is a good idea, there should be a built in peaceful or creative mode. Build a Wonder is a victory condition, in the game setup. Also, you can select Revealed Map and Explored Map. also in the game setup page. Also, in the game setup, if you click on the little checkdot that says Conquest, it will disable victory all together, so you can build endlessly. As for the female citizens thing, two thoughts: A: R28 removed female citizens, with randomized men or women models. B: What makes men less sexualized than women? What about for most girls? They certainly think men are more... ahem... than women are.

  8. You’re absolutely right about this. There were several months available to test the different release candidates. In fact, the times I personally tested the RCs, I welcomed the inclusion of this PR, yet I didn’t notice this (important) detail at all. It was only after playing the final version of 0 A.D. R28 repeatedly that I realized this lack of feedback was causing confusion. At least on my part, I take some self-criticism for not giving the testing phase the importance it deserved. There are a few other issues that could have been avoided if we had dedicated the necessary time and commitment to properly testing the RCs as we should have.

  9. Hi, @Atrik can you fix /pingall so i dont have to do it every new version? Line 14 ChatCommandHandler~autociv.js const ignore = new Set([selfNick].concat(this.botsListIgnore)); -> const ignore = new Set([selfNick].concat(that.botsListIgnore)); change 'this' to 'that' and add "WFGBot" to botsListIgnore

  10. So, here's where being game developers and designers matters. It's where we who make the game make decisions based on a vision for the game. Every change we make angers some players, delights others, and has zero impact on others. We can't (and won't) swing back and forth after only a couple weeks of play. The time to make your voice heard was months ago. We've had several release candidates and the pull request is 9 months old and was committed to the repo 6 months ago. As far as I'm concerned, the feature is staying, and the only things I personally will entertain are ideas on how to improve it (and I'd wager many of the other developers would agree). PS: The feature is only incidentally related to DE.

  11. Absolutely hate the small trees mod.
    1 point
  12. Yes, which is why two of the most popular mods for clarity, small trees mod and idle villager pointer, is now in-build in the game itself, and why the most popular mods either remove clutter or improve the UI.

  13. I wonder if we could just get another male voice actor saying the lines, and then get the guy citizens say the new guy lines and the girl citizens say the girl lines we already have.

  14. Thanks Atrik! I finally got this working.

  15. So you're saying the AoE franchise is full of clutterness then
    1 point
  16. From a gameplay perspective it's useless clutter that reduces clarity. Like decorative "trees" around your CC that you can't harvest.

  17. Yeah audio feedback from actions is important. It would be awesome to have some additional work done in this area, something to distinguish a male citizen from a soldier.

  18. I play the game on silent so this is not an issue for me. I do find it interesting using voice lines to make a distinction between units rather than visual though

  24. The game has become extremely good when it comes to lag, now it lags only with gargantuous amount of units and some players having bad connection. on another note however, there seems to be an increase in cases of OOS and players rejoining as spec. as of now, there is not enough cases to warrant a separate topic tho. just thought I'd point smth out I noticed.

  25. I think the problem is the lack of a Male Civilian voice sound. RIght now, they have same voices as citizen-soldier and thats creates confusion

  28. "Name": "Ritualistic Exercise", "History": "", "Description": "Citizen-Soldiers +40% health and +50% melee attack hack damage." isnt it supposed to just be civilians? Cause the Citizen soldiers sure as heck dont get 40% health and attack hack dmg. They would BE OP.

  29. Until September 2 the description indeed contained Female Citizens instead of Citizen Soldiers. The CivBonus was called Spartan Woman before. Diff: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/commit/3592814aa8e150c4b6234ba861a2940800b17e80?files=binaries%2fdata%2fmods%2fpublic%2fsimulation%2fdata%2fcivs%2fspart.json I checked the data for Athenian and Spartian Civillians in a match: The bonus applied correctly to Spartian Civillians (Health 25 to 35 (40 %) and Hack 2.0 to 3.0 (50 %)). Pull request #8767 has been opened.

  32. There is an ELO rating system implemented in the MP Lobby for 1v1's. A notorious problem with it is that it doesn't handle matches where one of the players disconnected before it was over, these matches simply aren't counted. Some players exploit this by leaving or closing matches when they realise they are about to be defeated, in order not to lose any rating points. This obviously goes against the rules, which is why this thread exists for reporting it: However, I think we can all agree that, ideally, bypassing the rating system like this wouldn't even be possible in the first place. This would save players the frustration and moderators the work of checking submitted replays. While talking about it in this thread the following idea came up: There are two cases of players quitting, firstly the one hosting the match, and secondly the one who joined the hosted game (the client). - If the client leaves, currently, the match continues, just without anyone controlling one side. If the host now finishes the match as usual by defeating the opponent (who doesn't defend himself anymore since the client left), it should still count as a win for the host and as a defeat for the client. If the client disconnected for a different, valid reason and planned to return, he should communicate that to the host beforehand. I'd argue it's the clients' responsibility to ensure they have a somewhat stable internet connection, so that they aren't completely disconnected frequently, and when they are, can still rejoin quickly. The downside is that it incentivizes hosts not to wait for the client to come back, since they no longer have to. - If the host leaves, currently, the match is immediately ended, without the client having a chance to continue the match in the same way as proposed for the host. In that case, the game should count as a win for the client. I know this sounds harsh, but as far as I can tell from the code, this only happens if the host manually exits the match or terminates the program. If the host only loses internet connection, all clients (one, if it's a 1v1) are disconnected from the match, but they are able to reconnect as the match itself on the host side persists. So the only way this can happen unintentionally is if the computer crashes, but again, that's probably something the host is responsible to ensure that it doesn't happen. What do you think? Is there anything I'm missing? An issue I can think of is that it enables hosts to exploit the system by starting a match, immediately kicking the client or blocking his connection deliberately in another way, and then being able to easily win the game and still be awarded rating points. Although, that's something that should just be reported as well.

  33. Some of you have known the mod Historical Patch over the past few alphas. What started as a small side project during a25–a26 grew way beyond what I expected, thanks to everyone who asked questions, gave feedback, or just showed interest. Taking a break and coming back in a27 made me realize something important: this isn’t really a “patch” anymore. So I’m giving the project a new name — Classical Warfare AEA. Classical Warfare AEA (Africa–Europe–Asia) is all about bringing more authenticity and depth to the classical world in 0 A.D. The name reflects the game’s geographic range and also nods to the familiar “eae” tag that’s become part of the community’s culture. The goal is simple: make the classical era feel richer, more grounded, and more interesting to explore. One of the best parts of this project has been the people who’ve helped along the way. If you’re into ancient history, military systems, or just enjoy digging through sources, you’re welcome here. Modders, researchers, and especially artists — there’s plenty of room to contribute. The project is shifting toward a clean, emblem‑style visual identity, so if you enjoy designing units, architecture, emblems, or UI elements, your work would be hugely appreciated. I’m excited to keep building this with the community. Whether you want to help, give feedback, or just follow along, I’m glad to have you here. Emacz2/classical-warefare-aea

  34. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and as such it would be nice to have a model in the game for a potential capture the wonder mod. I've found these CC0 models we could use: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/george-washington-greenough-statue-1840-6f90971e3eb24c0b8091086242f2c3b3 https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/julius-casar-802edad501a94f9c99b84c4c33d376b7 Then put the head of Zeus on top of it, e.g. this one: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/zeus-or-poseidon-from-the-artemision-d4876aa609304682945145debedfc77e Someone else has done something similar with George Washingtons statue already: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/zeus-statue-216d3aff33b9439f87bd0e79c677f9eb We could use Nike from Athena Parthenos. I'm won't find the time to do it soon, so I'm giving it out for anyone interested. I'm willing to help if anyone is interested in doing a retopology. I can then take it from there and bake a material. It's quite beginner-friendly as it requires mostly basic navigation in blender, but quite time-consuming. I propose using a tool like retopoflow for it.

  35. @wowgetoffyourcellphone Hi all, proud to present the result of another project I made a retopology to reduce the polycount 29k tris ->7k tris. I wasn't entirely happy with the old diffuse so I baked a new one and added some details to it. The faces are difficult to paint as you can see lol. The ivory could be slightly brigther now that I see it. Mod's attached and here are some before/after pictures: athena.zip

  37. Hey guys. This is an update of my current Athena statue project. As you can see, this is not a highly detailed model yet. I've been trying to set proportions and posing right first. Additionally, I'd like to know your opinion on having the goddess using her right hand to hold a spear instead of a nike. I personally find it more appealing with the spear. A nike would probably need an additional column to support her hand as in the Athena Varvakeion statue. As I mentioned in previous post, there's no way to know how exactly how this statue looked like. One of the few things we know is that the tip of the spear and the crest of the helmet were seen from far away. I think the concept presented in the pictures bellow would fit with this description . In any case, It's up to you. I just want to make sure I'm in sync with what you all want.

  38. Delenda est is actually way better than vanilla. EDIT: Though not as good as Hyrule Conquest: Revival, if I do say so myself (I do).

  39. "Gendered Civilians" is a very bad change. Everything from Delenda Est should just stay in that mod (Germanics, for example). There is a reason why >99% of online players play vanilla instead of Delenda Est.
