Hey all, I made a scenario map about the Roman Limes (latin for border), more specific the Upper-Germanic and Raethian Limes. The Limes was a Roman border defence and controll system against celtic and germanic raids, consisting mostly of walls, moats, palisades, towers and military camps. The land in the middle of Europe was mostly covered in forests and swamps, what complicated warfare for the Romans. I hope you'll like it Overview (spoiler alert): some references: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/35014-inspiration-for-map-creators/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limes_(Roman_Empire) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limes_Germanicus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castra to add an ingame preview, copy this to \binaries\data\mods\public\art\textures\ui\session\icons\mappreview @Stan`, @wraitii hope you can give me a hand now to make the palisades and towers not lose capture points outside of the territory the_limes_2p.pmp the_limes_2p.xml2 points

Hello, I just wanted to give my personal balance feedback about A24 before its release. rev : 24822 General balance remark : Elephant Stable are too expensive and too long to build compared to Arsenal : Elephant Stable : 200 wood + 200 stone -> 240 seconds Arsenal : 300 wood -> 180 seconds Roman, Persian and Kushites siege should be more expensive than standard siege because they are stronger. The number of building buildable should be set on your current pop limit not a constant. For exemple : Embassy : instead of 3 Embassy buildable max, 1 Embassy +1 every 100 pop cap. Towers : instead of 30 Towers max, 1 Tower +1 every 20 pop cap. Forts : instead of 10 Forts max, 1 Fort +1 every 50 pop cap Same for Kushites Mercenary Camps, Pyramids ... Civilization team bonus should be applied to the civilization itself not only teammates. Spying technologies are too expensive. Theatron is too expensive or need to be stronger, improve current bonus or add one (Resource Trickle for exemple such as Persian Apadana) Kushites Monutental Architecture too expensive for a bonus/penalty technologie. Baracks garrison experience gain should be only for infantry, The cavalry should gain experience in stable. Civilizations particularity : Carthaginians : It is an archer civilization but they don't have access to "Archery tradition" such as Mauryans Perians and Kushites. Mauryas : Mauryan archer champions : same price as standard archer champions but they are stronger due to the poison. Mauryan pillar (Edict pillar of Ashoka) are too expensive, or should be buildable on ally or neutral territory. Mauryan Hero (Chandragrupta Maurya) has no bonuses and can't train archer anymore, makes it useless. Iberians : Iberian cavalry champions : same price has standard cavalry champions but they are stronger due to the fire. Romans : Roman Castra (army camp) : deals more damage than a Fort. Roman Castra (army camp) : unit trained are rank 2 on purpose ? Ptolemies : Litghthouse too expensive : it is just a big outpost now. An outpost is the same for 60 wood instead of 200 stone + 200 metal. Britons : The number of dogs trainable should be set in function of the population limit or the number of stable, not to a constant (20). Dogs might be a bit expensive or need upgrades. Macedonians : Macedonian crossbow currently too weak compared to standard archer champions except if they never miss their target, has linear splash or has armor piercing. Crossbow : 40 pierce / 3 seconds Archer : 13.5 / 1 second (Crossbow can target a 1hp unit wasting 39 pierce damage and also crossbow not very usefull to "hit and run" because the 1st arrow is shot 3 seconds after the order.) I hope this small feedback can be usefull. What do you think about this ? @borg- @Feldfeld @ValihrAnt2 points

On most skirmish maps in DE, there are capturable structures and units that affect gameplay and add strategy. All of these objects are invulnerable (cannot be killed or destroyed). Probably the most consequential capturable map object, the Mercenary Camp allows the player to train a number of Mercenary Soldiers, which only cost coin and no population. These camps are map-specific and allow the training of dozens of ethnic mercenaries specific to that map location (Gaul, as opposed to North Africa, or India, for example). The occasional Shrine allows nearby units to heal and can train Elite Healers specific to the culture of that Shrine. Another common capturable object is the Trading Post. This allows the player to have long and profitable trade routes. They train Traders specific to the culture of the Trading Post and the Slave Trade tech allows Slave units to be trained twice as fast. Horses, Ponies, and Donkeys are similar to Catafalques, in that capturing them gives the player a bonus in the form of a global aura. Capturing Horses and Ponies gives extra health (+2% each) and faster train time (-5%) to cavalry units, while capturing Donkeys gives extra gathering speed to Citizens (+2% per donkey). Captured animals can be garrisoned in the Corral building for safe keeping.1 point

I will report here my advances with blender in search of building buildings in Blender for 0.AD, and perhaps in the future a true mod of the Mayan civilization. (classic or pre-classic single or divided into two or three city states). Any constructive criticism, tip or help is welcome, I will leave the github link to download the art folder. Since I am not an English speaker, please disregard which mistakes when using the Google translator. Some impressions of the buildings made so far, inspired by Tikal or Chichen Itza. https://github.com/wltonlopes/chichen_itza_mod1 point

Could a status effect, say from skirmisher javelins, reduce loyalty of a unit down to 0 and make them go Gaia? Applicable to elephants, chariots, and potentially other units.1 point

Going in to Hero Mode could be unlocked a couple ways, either with a Delenda Est-style resource like Glory that can be used to buy Hero Mode time, or maybe allow the Hero to rank-up with kills like other units, ranking up far enough to allow Hero Mode. While in this mode the hero has double resistance and double attack. The mode has a time limit, and takes time to recharge. Upper left button: Hero button replaced by the "Back to Strategic View" button; hotkey: Spacebar; take player out of hero mode. The health bar here indicates how much health all of the player's units have (if you see it dropping precipitously, you might have an indication that there's an attack elsewhere killing your people and might want to go back to Strategic View to deal with it) Lower right: A panel combines the Unit Viewer information and the health bar of the hero. W: Move Forward A: Strafe Left S: Backup D: Strafe Right Q: Turn Left E: Turn Right Z: Toggle Weapons - Whichever weapons are available to this hero X: Army Command - Follow; affects nearby soldiers, causes them to follow and guard the player's hero C: Army Command - Charge; affects nearby soldiers; causes them to charge ahead of the hero by 50 meters in an Attack-Move1 point

Thank you for the feedback! Currently A24 is under a feature freeze and a string freeze. This means only bug fixes and very simple changes (e.g. tweaking a cost) can go in, if it's deemed important enough. Everything else will have to wait until after the release. Here's a patch for you: https://code.wildfiregames.com/D3515 And for this too: https://code.wildfiregames.com/D3516 A lighthouse is much better: it has a lot more health and resistance, is not affected by territory decay, does not have to be garrisoned, and reveals an area 4× as large as a garrisoned outpost (or 400× that of an ungarrisoned outpost). This was discussed at https://code.wildfiregames.com/D25331 point

Elephat stable can be reduced. Stronger sieges don't necessarily have to be more expensive. It can be like a "Historically bonus". Buildings by pop dont work. I agree with teambonus. This will be worked on a25. Theatron can be reduced. Many other civilizations have archers, this does not mean that all must have "archery tradition" Some civilizations have unique technologies, and more for a25. Rome castra can no longer train siege, so it makes sense to train level two units and have high firepower. However it must be reworked in a25. Dogs seems ok. Maybe some new upgrade for a25. Crossbow has a high haccuracy. Must be better worked on a25. Iber doesn't have a good variety of units mainly siege weapons, so it seems fair.1 point

Berhudar has improved considerably though, you can replace me with him anytime, even when I was at my best... I truly believe StarAtt was not a smurf. People like to attribute smurf when they can't believe someone is able to translate skills from one RTS to another. The truth is that in niche communities like ours, apart from players you can count on one hand, the level of competitiveness is very low. I've seen the same on another RTS I started playing recently with similar characteristics to 0ad community, I was able to pick it up really fast and soon enough I was able to identify the top player(s) and how competitive they are (compared to mainstream 'Pro' as in truly professional gamers). You can pick any RTS veteran motivated enough to put some effort in 0ad and soon enough you will see them beating top 10 players consistently in matter of a couple months (being generous). People who cry smurf at the wind have some reason, people indeed smurf and it's easy to identify a player by their style after a few games. The lack of sensitivity when it's obvious the player is not a smurf however, reflects ignorance of their lack of skill compared to the general RTS populace (apart from being downright rude af). There might be some cognitive dissonance derived from the fact they play the game for years and can be nowhere close as good no matter how much they try (it's always the same playstyle, never learning from mistaeks) but consider themselves at top level gameplay .1 point

The deviation is Greek and Latin and has more meanings than just "promotion" though the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly/moth is a promotion Enjoy the Choice1 point

Boudy, im surgeon, not psychologist, i cant heal your pathological trait to blatant lying But Ok, lets the Doctor make a diagnosis, but trust me, you cannot dirt all alone my excellent reputation and my fame in 0ad community. Everybody knows me as being reliable and honest. Whilst, you write tons of BS after spending hours on your comments editing/reviewing/correcting in hope people will think you are an Oxford academic So in december i played 3 days only, and battle you 9 games ... Now the autopsy ! I basicaly out-perform you 6 games on 9 And the 3 times " I lost " i was still first in the team. Special mention to the game jc (kush) > Boudy (Gauls with iber bonus ! ) . Seriously, boudy, accept you the league below me. You are good bronze, but definively not a silver. Accept your social status on 0ad and your hate will disapear. Be humble and your life will get brighter.1 point
