After seeing the super-champions, I was disappointed not to find any starships available for the Han. The champions start at 40/3sec First attack upgrade => 46/3 sec Second attack upgrade =>52.9/3sec Third attack upgrade =>63.5/3sec Poisonned arrows => 76.2/3sec Repeating cross-bow => 76.2/2sec Hero Wei Quin => 91.4/2sec Cross-bow training => 91.4/1sec Will-to-fight => 114.6/1sec At that point champions palace guard have only 31.2/1sec whereas citizen-soldiers crossbowmen gets to 47.6/1sec. Both crossbow training and repeating crossbow reduce by 1second the firing time of crossbowmen. That’s 2 very powerfull upgrades. Wei Quin is also a bit too powerfull with respect to Boudica. It seems there is still to decide which bonus to give him. He gives some bonus to champions as Boudica, + a malus to enemy cavalry + he has a flame thrower. Making 10 damages independently of the level of armor can be significant in some cases. Pikemen are the only melee unit currently immune to his flame thrower because of their extra range. Not sure it is meant as a feature, but after running the upgrade « imperial court », it is possible to train champions guard (no cavalry champions), but no longer possible to train citizen-soldiers from the cc. The building to train all champions costs 300 stones/300 metal, but the upgrade to transform the cc into champion building costs 300wood/300stones. Considering that other civilization pay 600 food to get champions at barracks or stable and remain able to train citizen soldiers there, that sounds a bit too much (seleucids do not even pay anything for that). I would probably go for the extra building in all cases and never research the upgrade since during the 40 seconds of research time, the cc can't be used to produce units. The Temple and the LaoziGate health regeneration capacity seem to cumulate (both healing the same units at the same time). Not sure that should be desirable. I couldn't test if the LaoziGate would work on ally, but setting the range to 50meters for the LaoziGate would at least be consistent with the revered monument of the iberian range.3 points

when we have the patch for 2 types of attacks (secondary attack) it will no longer be necessary.2 points

Excellent feedback on the Han. I'll have some ideas tonight on how to address them. I may do some reading and revamp the heroes a little. The intention was indeed to have the Imperial Court not train citizens anymore. Perhaps the function of the upgrade can be revisited. Perhaps the Imperial Court unlocks heroes there but also increases the speed of the entire production queue substantially so that training and research there is super fast. Then we can limit the upgrade to just 1 civic center.2 points

I hope these cover all the potrait needs. I'm punching above my skill level while working on this so its been a great practice and pardon if theres lil weirdness here and there. I do always kinda want to make her slightly unconventionally attractive. I hope I can convey that with the slight lower jaw protrusion, the caked make up, and that nose because after watching Mortal Face take on her, I cant shake up to not hint a bit about her inbred family history.2 points

Would wish to support scrapping the Iphicratean reforms tech outright in light of @Thorfinn the Shallow Minded's view of "the height" of Athenian civilization, but no consensus among the other community members seems to have been reached. In this case, what alternative technologies and champion units can replace the Iphicratean influences? Coming back to this, the reforms (if retained) should actually unlock a champion light hoplite like the present epilektos, as well as a champion skirmisher akin to the theureophoros a few alphas ago. Marines should be a whole different story, separate tech to unlock (light/armored fork?). Image references: When secondary weapons are a thing, the champion light peltasts can double as a hoplite. Don't forget to replace the thureos with oval wicker shields.1 point

Using "Guard" for healer can help, but it has also a lot of negative sides. The unit they guard must survive. It is a bit annoying if they guard melee units that keep moving since they can't heal and walk. If they guard ranged units that's not exactly where one would want his healers to stay neither. I often find it more pleasant to make them guard units that need to be micro anyway, won't die fast but will remain near wonded units, like the hero or an elephant.1 point

Thank you very much for testing! I added a fix, though it might have a bit different stack. Could you try the latest SVN?1 point

If you mean Vercingetorix, leader of the Arverni, he wasn't exactly high king of all the Gauls. He was leading a league of multiple tribes, they gave him the commanding power of the league, but he didn't have a full authority on the different tribes. It was more hegemonic, similar to the Greek leagues (like the Delian league). At the origin, it was a decision made by one of the beloved founders: Ken Wood. The Alpha 23 was named after him. You can see in this interview his interests about the Iberians, Celtiberians and Lusitanians: https://web.archive.org/web/20100104100236/http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=1489 We know there are some issues in how they are depicted. The archaeology of the Iberian Peninsula is not simple, most of the sources are in Spanish and they weren't accessible until recently. The current Iberian faction mixes features from the Iberians, Turdetani (Tartessos), Celtiberians and Lusitanians. Each of these people spoke a different language.1 point

Balancers (some at least) already try hard for all civs to play the same, if all maps play the same as well there is little to look forward to. Except for looks (tho not as bad as it once was) Anatolian Plateau is a great map!1 point

I think the acceleration also looks wierd. It looks like there is an invisible man the cavalry pushing (or pulling) them forward until they reach maximum speed. I think there would be a very improved visual experience if the animations between the acceleration and full speed phases where different. Maybe scaling the length of the run animation with the units current speed would make it look very decent.1 point

No, at this time Buddhism had not been introduced, Taoism had not yet appeared, so there would not be the kind of temple you want. It would be better to just add a medic.1 point

The big thing people seem to be curious about is unit acceleration and the ability for cavalry to escape bad situations. I watched on the SVN version in slow motion and compared speed of an infantry javelineer against the speed of cavalry javelineer. I would assume that the most important factor in this situation is the time cavalry needs to accelarate to a speed such that it is faster than infantry. Only during the first step the infantry javelineer seems a tiny little bit faster. So that seems not very impactful. What does seem impactful is the following: I ran away with a cavalry archer from a chasing spear cavalry. Everytime the spear cavalry attacks, it needs to stop. In A25 that because of this stopping, after the attack finishes and the spear cavalry starts moving, the cavalry archer is about one length of a horse ahead of the spear cavalry. In A25 the spear cavalry needs to accelerate after each stop/attack, the length of the gap will get more than twice as long. Basically chasing and killing cavalry with other cavalry becomes nearly impossible even if your cavalry is faster. If we consider it a problem, a solution would be to reduce the stopping time such that it is close to 0.1 point

Wrong. Lot of people just don't like smurfs. It's not hard to understand why. It's pretty easy to just accept that fact and not contribute to the problem.1 point

It's a well known reference. If you are thinking of hosting it on your own PC, I would suggest to not do it.1 point

What I had so far. I'm somewhat tied to her being hooked nosed, and the inbreeding might have gave her slight ugliness that can be hidden well enough with stylized bust, but I also realized that, she looks quite haggish here lol. Especially her jawlines which I havent touch well. I'll keep working on it, primarily trying to make her younger looking, but still had those unique atributes. I should've check this thread sooner and just use those 3d models that I'd liked as a base, since those are pretty much my ideal image of her. Incoporated some of that 3D render above into the ref and I think I'm on the right track and doesnt have to start anew, so this is the base. I just went with something basic of that Isis headress since that pic also had the ref on how to draw the shine. Thanks for the support so far.1 point

Perhaps Chosen Hoplite can be used? Europa Barbarorum translate it as Distinguished Hoplite, but in Europa Barbarorum 2 they changed it to simply Elite Hoplite.1 point
