Hallo all, map maker here. After making random generated maps it was time for some skirmish map this time. Here it is. As you can see is the same map as this one but extended to a whole new level! Some players will start at the beach where there is abundance of food and stone, some others at the bluffs where there's abundance of metal and good defense positions. Search the hidden treasures spread throughout the map to gain the upper-hand with those extra resources. The volcano being what it is will be in the middle thus forcing everybody to go by water or the shore to reach the enemy. Be warned, don't touch the lava! Files here (only alpha 24 compatible): Volcano Island (8).pmp Volcano Island (8).xml That's all. Nani. old versions:5 points

I'd rather we just dispense with the whole Part 1 and 2 thing. After 1.0, just have WFG release a large update every 1-2 years that's basically like an expansion pack (more civs, extra features, major engine improvements, etc), with balance fixes and minor bug fixes at 2-3 month intervals.3 points

I believe that's because I changed the actor format in a breaking way but didn't really communicate on it. See https://code.wildfiregames.com/rP22442 You now must use animation variants and the regular Walk/Idle formations instead of walk_testudo_front animations.2 points

The only real reason women are the primary economic unit is the Gameplay... pure Gameplay: It's easier to differentiate them from the Citizen Soldiers, and that they "inspire men to work harder". It's one area that history wasn't taken into account (even if I will try to argue that we have Females Healing Units within the Roman Faction).2 points

I've never been able to use Atlas without it routinely crashing on me, loosing saved files, unable to use search properly (need an external text editor and then copy paste what I'm searching for into Atlas search) (mods or no mods). It's a pity because with some practice I'm sure I could make a lovely map or two. Making Atlas more intuitive, straightforward and user friendly could engage a lot more community members in map-making.1 point

@Alexandermb Yes there's been changes recently. That you need to be aware of: Formations now use animation variants, and the regular "Idle", "Walk", "Run" animations. So you need to setup your actors to have a regular variant group with idle/walk/run animations, and a formation-special variant. Also, while remaining in formation units will IDLE in formation-animation, but when that formation breaks (for whatever reason), they will revert to their usual animation. I believe there's still a few issues, but tbh the current code needs some streamlining before we fix these. Check out my changes to the testudo formation actors.1 point

http://library.flawlesslogic.com/tacitus.htm Probably female priest and maybe some female units giving bonus (aura) to motivate neighboring warriors. Edit: sorry for the poor choice in the url, the website is not really recommended, it comes from Google search.1 point

for Persian i did, based on new structure. but to use them first we need to implement new voice structure of game (require development i think). current voice structure is not complete and has issue check this one that i prepared: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ze2SBTjKxMTbAVMDUmJIAwjDLXFJy2kNzXzkI3wwP7U/edit#gid=7808666841 point

The way I implemented it was that at a certain (template-based) range from their targets, the units started running instead of walking. No user input required.1 point

Hi guys!!! I come here to discuss a change in the interface of the units / constructions. It's something that has bothered me a lot, for several reasons. You need to leave your mouse over icon for some time, until important information is shown, and even then they are confusing, have poor allocation, letters are small and not have icons. It sounds like something unimportant but it is not, in some other rts games, when you evolve your drives, the drive model also changes, so you know that drive is upgraded, and you take care of it. At 0 A.D this does not happen, so you can not tell if the drives are upgraded, you need to click them, leave the mouse on the icon for some time, and then you can see a lot of confusing information. What I would like to see is something like this: It's something simple and clean, just with a few icons, showing, atack/armors/atackrang. Of course a few more things can be added, and also, the other information does not have to be taken, they can stay where they are. This way it is much easier to see and you do not waste time looking for the information you need. I have seen some players complaining about losing fights and only then did they see that the enemy units were much stronger. And I dare you to say, that some players do not know that this information exists, because they have never tried to leave the mouse over the icon. Age of empires 2 is just one of the good examples we have, it does not have to be identical. What do you guys think? He gave his opinions and suggestions. Tnx1 point

Should be fixed in next version. Currently the AI doesn't use formation because as it's said in the welcome screen those are not a finished feature. Currently formation attack is not implemented, you can also set them to standground.1 point

That is not the case with nomadic peoples several where matriarchal and even the ones who were not had very flexible sexual roles with woman acting as the primary military force when the men where away on the hunt or war most Mongol woman where very good archers and riders while the Scythian women where both chiefs and shamans of great political power so the classical role for woman really only holds for citified folk. Buenas ¿Como hay que hacer para poder atacar un edificio o algunas maquinas de asedio, sin capturarlas? Gracias1 point

It would be great if it was a standalone mod so other mods could easily use it or make it a dependency. Or better yet, made a patch for the core game so that it can be maintained.1 point

Noted @Sundiata Massive historical insight. Kudos to you! I very well thought the same about leaving them as it is, @GunChleoc, before I compared to Russian where "pr-ms’yw" was done like "пер-месаиу" Not to break the feel, I will put them the way they are until someone figures a proper form.1 point

I think it would make it much easier to understand, especially for new players. The current interface is not friendly to new players.1 point

I prefer that format the Loot has employed (Following from that Bamboo Spearman Example): Attack: (Hack Icon) 3, (Pierce Icon) 2.5, (Rate Icon) 1 Defense: (Hack Icon) 5, (Pierce Icon) 5, (Crush Icon) 15 Capture: (I don't know what to do with this part) Speed: (Walk Icon) 8.5, (Run Icon) 15 Loot: (Experience Icon) 100, (Food Icon) 5, (Wood Icon) 51 point

have you found ways to save maps and reload them? even if its only in atlas. i know exactly what you mean ive been hooked on making maps since AOE and its always been one of my favorite things to do within a game especially a RTS. But technology is abit over my head so i just uninstall and then try again if that dont work im lost.0 points
