  1. hey @rossenburg I think I'm not following you. I read the other thread. U mean this answer?: "i think it does on both sides. When enemy or your teammate uses /ally both the Net messages are logged so it's kind of literally reading enemy messages too. I'm not against the whole idea but telling you so incase you can make a patch around it before giving it out to everyone. Won't be fun to see enemies messages" In that case I agree with you. Are you saying defc0n was testing Helicity's script?
  2. I translate spanish parts of the chat so everyone can understand. I'll just put the important lines (Ally) <mr.michael> juarca(1341) 1337rtslegend(1039) is a good player, just need good communication with him (Ally) <mr.michael> anyway, I will attack your border first <s0loooy0(404)> [...] <defc0n> anyway, I will attack your border first? (Ally) <mr.michael> how does he knows? I sent it privately <defc0n> how does he knows? I sent it privately <s0loooy0(404)> [...] I publish these images with the express permission of mr. michael because he does not use the forum and does not speak English well. So he asked me to do it for him. Somehow or another the known player defc0n was reading the private chat of the enemy team during a game while he himself was playing. In principle, we can all draw the conclusion that this is cheating. It remains to be understood why at the same time he published the messages he was reading in the public chat of the same game. He just was jokin? Disturb his rival? To point out how easy it is to read these messages? Maybe prove it to a third party? It is clear that the real solution to these problems is to improve the game's information transmission mechanisms. Until then, how should we proceed? I think at least defc0n owes us an explanation. Idk if he's active on the forum.
  3. I heard the album, @Pemulis. I loved it! I haven't listened to that style of Rock in a long time. It brought back a lot of memories of King Crimson, Genesis; Emerson, Lake & Palmer... At times very beautiful baroque passages could be appreciated. I must admit that I had never heard rock sung in Italian. The singer's voice and style, also very interesting. I felt like I was in a theater, inside a play. I will listen to it again. I am sure that, once the cognitive stress is over, I will be able to enjoy it even more. Thank you.
  4. Already voted. Just wanted to share my hotkeys layout: 5 for Main CC, 4 for barracks, 6 for blacskmith. 0 for marketplace and storehouses. 1, 2 and 3 for army. sometimes I have only one army all in #1. Sometimes a separated group in #2. #3 for cavalry. Sometimes I have 1 for army, 2 for hero. It depends on the situation. And last but not least, 4 for my house builders ^-^
  5. What about put everything else inside Options? I just wanted to take a look to the whole design so I made this. I share it in case someone else also wants to
  6. I'm glad you liked it! The band has two more albums: Invisible (as the name of the band), and Durazno Sangrando. Invisible is a trío rock band with some jazz and fusión influences. His leader was Luis Alberto Spinetta, one of the greatest rock musicians from Argentina.
  7. I forgot. Ofc it this can't be implemented next release I'd like to suggest to be a priority implementation for multiplayer
  8. Maybe off-topic but a TG record in the profile of every account it's extremely neccesary so we can get rid to a large extent of smurfs. Not necessary to have ELO ranking for TGs, only TG played or every game played without Petra Bot with minimun duration of 10/12 minutes it's enough. And also creation account date. I suggest this to be implemented next release.
  9. I wonder I could make my own mod for the game unfortunately I lack certain knowledge necessary for it. I hope someday you or someone else could explain to me the basics. I learn fast! Congratulations on the hard work. I am glad that the debate is making you want to do even better.
  10. @PieLam Some stuff u can try to fix this a) Did you installed any mod? If that's the case first of all you could try removing all mods. b) Also u should check if you have set the right hotkey in the hotkey menu. c) Also check if there's any other hotkey that may being in conflict with it. d) Btw, towers are dificicult to select. sometimes the mousearrow is above the tower but it still doesnt being detected. try moving the mousearrow near the base of the tower.
  11. I feel you @Pemulis. I really like to listen music and do nothing else. Only enjoying the listening, Discover some new lines. Also playing covers with my guitar, singing too. Try to make my own too. But it's too hard for my knowledge. I would like to share this álbum to you. I hope you like it. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mg3aSUOXiC1X4W-Q8F2Nm4uF4CIByJlvk
  12. @Atrik My intention was not to state an absolute truth about what is cheating and what is not, but rather to emphasize what kind of gaming experience we want. Of course it's going to be different what I consider should be a standard than what you or any other player considers. And I do not pretend to be out of that contradiction, that's why I have mentioned what mods I use and why I use them. You are right that it is contradictory to use a mod that shows, for example, your team's resource information and at the same time to be against having an idle barracks list. In an AOE II forum there are players who consider that the 0ad auto-queue is absurd because it takes away the fun of the game and yet AOE II has an option for units to explore the map automatically... But I don't think it's about imposing one vision or another here. This is a discussion forum and, like any forum, its topics lead to discussions. For me it is a question of balance between game experience and fairness in the competition and it is thanks to the exchange through this medium that great improvements have been achieved in this regard. In relation to the quick-start I would also like to point out that what for you is only saving you three clicks for me is a small but important step in relation to the development of micro skills that can complicate many new players and that is carried out in a different way. for each player. It is enough to watch an OP match to notice that it is most likely that at least half of the players will execute this task in a different way. You don't have to be a DoctorOrgans. I don't know what you mean by this. But using hotkeys to build buildings seems like a basic feature of any RTS to me. After Command & Conquer, every RTS I've played has hotkeys. Ty, @Yekaterina, I am aware of that option and have it enabled and yet it is more difficult to micro an attack against an army hidden under a forest than it is to do it in the open
  13. This discussion is very interesting because, as already mentioned, it affects game design and can lead to a better or worse gaming experience. I personally agree with @BreakfastBurrito_007 that an RTS game needs both strategy and skill and at some point the GUI design also affects the skill level needed to optimally execute certain tasks necessary to improve player performance. The ability to carry out multiple tasks at the same time is also an important aspect to take into account and if I have a mod that automatically shares my resources or automatically researches technologies, I get free time to carry out other tasks and that, in principle, is an advantage. The same with quick start: this feature may be better or worse optimized but it prevents the player from developing the necessary micro to carry out this task. Which is not just selecting units to give them orders. It is also to recognize the terrain, identify resources and make the decision to move them towards one woodline or another, etc... Managing and sharing is also an aspect that players need to develop and a mod that does this for us is necessarily removing an important aspect of the game... Ultimately: what gaming experience do we want? One in which the entire economy and "minor and repetitive tasks" are automated, or one in which we must do everything ourselves? Which of these enhancements should become standard in 0ad? I can't agree with a mod that moves my units automatically, or share resources, or let me know wich barrack is idle. Trees can be used to hide an army and protect it from easy attacks and force the adversary to try to get that army out of the forest. This is completely nullified by a mod where the trees turn into skinny purple sticks. I personally use two mods that I consider essential and, at this point, a standard to have a better gaming experience: autociv and boonGUI. autociv mainly because of the hotkeys (a standard in RTS games since AOE I), the hosting tools and the auto-queue (this is my exception to the rule) boonGUI because it greatly improves the GUI and provides important equipment information for resource management. In addition, it removes the color black, which I consider more of a bugfix, since the team that has a player with this color obtains a clear visual advantage over the other team.
  14. Sometimes this possibility leads to undesirable situations when specs comment in the global chat about the skills of one of the players. This can be especially overwhelming and demoralising for new players. Some ppl (luckily, just a few ones) with toxic behavior can even reveal what a player is doing and ruin the game. I think it would be better not to allow global chat to viewers unless the host allows it with some in-game command or option in the pre-game. I am not particularly against this possibility currently in operation. But I think it would be better if the host could control this feature to allow or deny it. +1 to this.
  15. This is a free game and few people work very hard to develop it without any remuneration so I am really surprised to read these kinds of unfortunate and ironic reviews. Perhaps you could try a more constructive and positive approach and you will surely get better responses.
  16. That guy is not only a racist, a misogynist, pro-Nazi and fascist. He also exerts constant bullying towards players and especially towards new players. It's the last thing the community needs to grow. I would delete his account and ban his IP. But sadly, he will eventually be able to connect. So the only thing that can truly isolate him is that influential and reputable players denies him to play on their hosts. Unfortunately, bc he is an "op player", most of these players look the other way and allow him to play.
  17. I just noticed there's a line in the lobby's subject about community mod. I would like to suggest this line being written in green or yellow color so it can be noticed easily by players.
  18. +1 to this. +1 too. At the top or bottom would make easier the background design. I just share two different alternatives. (ignore the black rectangle in the middle, ofc)
  19. In addition to thank you all for the enormous work you have done with this mod, I think it is important to note that it has energized the community a lot and has generated great enthusiasm from many players. It is true that it has also been "divided" a bit between players who have downloaded the mod and those who have deliberately decided not to do so and we could even say that the mod is not used by most of the community and, nevertheless, has been adopted by the most competitive hosts and players. I would also like to suggest that if the community-mod will become a regular mechanism for testing and introducing possible changes towards new releases I think it would be important to achieve a better integration of it within the game and facilitate access to recent changes that are incorporated into the mod without the need for the user to enter Trac. This is not only a limitation because the user must manually enter a website, but must also learn to interpret the site, which is not the more friendly website to someone without some computer skill or interest. A welcome screen/text box in the main menu would be enough to be able to transmit to the user in a more effective way the changes made in the community-mod, as well as any other message that the developers consider important. The content of this section could be extracted from some website controlled by the developers, which would easily allow modifications to be made. The only message of these characteristics is the motd of the lobby and it seems to me that it is not designed for this type of information that I am proposing. If there is any difficulty in incorporating this into the main menu of the game natively perhaps it can be previously tested on the Shiny mod made by @maroder with a similar mechanism, only instead of using WFG's servers to host the content, it could be hosted on some other web server with controlled access. And beyond the fact that this does not solve the underlying issue that I am raising because it would be necessary to use the shiny mod, it can be a good way to work and improve on such an important issue wich is to communicate simply and well. Best regards
  20. I've been using the Shiny Mod for a while now and find it much more enjoyable than the aesthetics of the vanilla version. Although it is true that many improvements or alternatives can still be incorporated, would it not be better to unify efforts and work on the same mod?
  21. Unfortunetly one missclick erased my whole answer to you. I keep my first opinion in this matter. This is not a community problem. It´s just a few op player's problem. We don't even have TG rank points wich means the worst can be happen with an unknown players is realizing he's better than you expected and the next time you will know this. I agree losing 1v1 ranked match against a smurf account it's unfair and should be prevented some way. I can understand frustration of someone who is trying hard to lvl up his rank points and got deceived by some smurf. But this is not the common case. Better use same tactic and play only with known accounts. Considering the whole 0ad situation as game, we should be thinking in ways to make huge performance improvements, gui/lobby enhacements, creating some legal frame to use the money we have to pay some programmers or do something with that money so it doesn't just get devalued in some bank account, etcétera.... Showing account's age on profile it's the best effort-benefit ratio to void smurfs Having this excellent open source game and how much potential it has to be the Worldwide Best RTS game in genre by far but it seems some weak points that can't be fixed make the whole project roaming in a dead end... Honestly it makes me feel kinda sad for the few people getting involved Can't be more agree with you
  22. @asterix@Feldfeld I found an easy way renaming 0 A.D. alpha to something else folder -> accepting uninstall dialog (seems nothing is being removed since folder already renamed) -> renaming new 0 A.D. alpha to 0 A.D. alpha 25 -> renaming back original a26 folder to 0 A.D. alpha as it was. I've already been playing and it's workin good so far!
  23. Is there any chance to have both version installed at the same time. I tried to installed but it asks me to remove the already installed version. I´m lookin for a friend I think he got stucked there and wanna try to bring him back to the future =) Im under windows. TY
