I just read on Wikipedia: The unfolded planks were a novelty in the middle ages

Recently I watched a historical video which says that the pop-culture siege towers (which are used to capture walls) are rather wrong. In reality, the siege towers where used to shoot at the defenders (and to destroy gates / walls / buildings) So they should be fine.

It will, because it will nerf my secret killer strategy: The women rush!

- There is a lot of interaction possible in the early game. Right from the start you can run over the map to the opponent and interact with him - if the beginning is too slow for you, maybe play with higher starting resources? - booming is not turtling. There is a clear difference between a women-from-houses-boom and turtling with lots of towers, walls and fortresses... believe me - cavalry can actually make the eco stronger - cavarly can be very durable - cavalry scouting is actually very important. That bad players tend to not doing it doesnt mean that its not a thing. On scout missions, the cavalry can also harass the opponent - if you think that rushes consist only of cavalry, then you dont have enough experience in the game. Infantry rushes are clearly a thing

Nobody suggested that all citizens lose their armor. The idea was that units which have 1 armor get that reduced to 0. But this can have a big impact on the game for no signifcant reason, so it should not be done. At the other hand, you could just lower all armors in the game by 1 and decrease all damages by 10%. But is it worth the effort? No.

It does makes sense. Champs have better gear. So they have more armor.

We should just leave it as it is

"Pulling the plug"
Player of 0AD replied to PyrrhicVictoryGuy's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Skirmishers deal a lot of damage per second, so it's no surprise that they are more deadly against elephants than spear cav Spear cav is not too bad, especially if it levels up If someone quits a rated game without resigning, it should be counted as loss. We need a technical solution for this, by the help of a timer for example. -
Small changes to the game can pretty snowball...

Nerf the Macedonian team bonus
Player of 0AD replied to Player of 0AD's topic in Gameplay Discussion
It can go like: barter 500 stone for 550 metal barter 500 metal for 550 stone and so forth. This is really glitchy. I suggest to lower the bonus to 15% and see if its still possible to exploit it. -
The Macedonian team bonus is OP: It allows to gain resources by bartering. So you can create resources just by clicks, if you have some resources already and a market. Please lower the 20% to a percentage where it's not possible anymore. 15% maybe?
-
Siege towers can also be countered by rams, catapults and melee troops, especially cavalry. But of course they must not get a speed bonus.

Another night you thought you'd booked an alternative musician, but instead an Iberian Hero turned up in full armour. "And who the hell are you?" you exclaimed. He just looked up and said: "Indie-Bill!"

Aggressive soldiers will keep collecting/building/repairing even when enemies are right next to them. They will fight back when they are attacked, but this doesn't help too much in many situations. If the aggressive soldiers soldiers are standing around or patrolling, they will fight when they see an enemy. If they are defensive, they will walk to the enemy only if they get close like 50% of sight range or something similar.

Addition of Han Chinese to 0AD
Player of 0AD replied to Yekaterina's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Maybe it would be better to implemented new civs only in mods, as the multiplayer community seems to have no need for new civs? Singleplayer-oriented players can play mods, they don't need to be in synch with the multiplayer community. Multiplayers do. -
One day you thought you'd booked some gospel musicians, but instead a group of Carthaginian spearmen turned up in full armour. "And who the hell are you guys?!!!" you exclaimed. Their leader just looked up and said: "The Sacred Band!"

Gameplay issue: Booming = Turtling
Player of 0AD replied to ValihrAnt's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Isn't there a difference between building many defensive structures/units and not doing so? -
Mercenary use in the punic and successor factions
Player of 0AD replied to PyrrhicVictoryGuy's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Yeah, only 10 (65%), really low. Just the highest hack armour of any citizen in the game ; ) -
Thanks for trying to help me, but the files are not there. However. Does anybody know where the files of unit stats are here? https://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser
-
Somewhere on my PC there must be the files where I could read how much accuracy every ranged unit has. But where? I've already searched a lot but I didn't find it. And where is local.cfg or however the file is named where you can change the maximum zoom?

Removing stone costs from will to fight would just increase the problem. Link to that ticket?

How is 10 armor small? That's as much as a pikeman Its a part of the game that units can survive multiple shots which would kill them in real life

African forest elephants are much smaller than Indian elephants, so the "elephant racism" is okay Reducing the health to 450 might be a bit over the top Don't forget that the fighting system is not realistic anyway, it should rather be good for gameplay I think that an elephant aura would be just annoying, and group damage or a special mode as well. Group damage would make melee troops even weaker. Fear aura would make elephants even more powerful. So: No thanks

- The working animations could be adapted so that each collected resource correspondence with 1 animation cycle. Exception: Collecting meat from animals, there it could be 1 animation cycle for 5 resources. - the order that a unit should die could be queuable, for example: "build that building, then die" - attacking fields and walls should have much lower priority in the automatical behaviour. Defending storehouses and other buildings in enemy territory as well.
