  1. Recommendations for Windows 10 devs: 1. Sublime text for editing xml files. It provides very good autocompletion and allows simultaneous editing of multiple files. 2. Use MultiCommander file explorer with the default one, because MultiCommander supports tabs in the same window so if you need to look at many folders simultaneously.
  2. Of course you can use windows 10 for developing. You might run into a few errors while building atlas, but it is an easy fix: just rebuild without atlas and then copy atlasUI.dll into binaries/system folder. That should do the trick.
  3. Wise choice. Windows 10 does cater for all you need to be a good 0ad dev, although the process might be a bit painful. feel free to check out my last youtube video on how to compile it in Windows 10. I have experimented with WSL 1 year ago and it did not provide a stable gui environement for me. Also the resolution was quite limited so I feel that it is not worth it. You can try virtualbox if you wish.
  4. I would recommend dual boot for a stable, authentic and smooth experience. Windows subsystem for Linux takes more effort than dual booting it with an easy distro for beginners, e.g openSUSE, Linux Mint.
  5. I think this is what I meant. Spent too long on Arch Linux and forgot about Windows
  6. I am trying to rebuild on a windows laptop from scratch (the same laptop as the one used in my Youtube video) On that day it produced an error when I added --enable-atlas option. Today I retry without atlas option, then put the atlas.dll into the directory and the Atlas editor launched without error. What I did differently today was using the powershell to execute update-workspaces.bat without any additional options.
  7. Another solution: build without atlas options enabled, then copy this file into the binaries/system folder and relaunch. It should allow you to launch Atlas in Windows. Make sure you have wxwidgets installed correctly though, ticking all options as you install. AtlasUI.dll
  8. This article suggests that an average horse can outrun an average camel by a bit: https://www.animalfoodplanet.com/how-fast-camels-are-compared-to-horses/ However prime specimens of each species are another story. CS javelin camel? Sounds decent. It would mean removing the CS javelin horse and a little nerf for the faction.
  9. As of now, the Kushites still have 2 identical cavalry javelineers, except one is a mercenary camel. My proposal: increase the max health of camels by 20 percent but also decrease their speed by 20 percent. Or, give them a mercenary camel archer instead. Currently this unit is useless as no one would spend 80 metal on a cavalry javelineer when they have a citizen one. I think I have mentioned this in another thread, but Nescio, who came up with the camel idea, is gone.
  10. I thino there is an error in the environment. You are running more than 1 instances of 0ad simultaneously, so the program crashes. Try killing all 0ad process in the task manager, reboot pc. If this problem still occurs, you may be missing files. In that case download atlas.dll from the repository and copy it to binaries/system folder. Furthermore check if your wx widgets have been installed and activated
  11. Is this for A24 or A25?
  12. Check out the arch wiki tbh I am on Endeavour OS as a temporary solution because I need to fix reinstall Arch but didn't have enough time to do it.
  13. Sometimes the archers don't shoot at the target that you right-clicked, instead they shoot at something else. This is also a problem with catapults. Also sometimes the model sizes are too small to be clicked on accurately.
  14. You have just successfully convinced me to try Manjaro again in a virtual machine. Thanks And I would recommend you try real arch or Fedora as well.
  15. On Arch, AUR is enabled by default and in Manjaro you have to use Octopi (not sure what the gui is called these days) to enable snaps and AUR before you can use them Tbh I just use yay helper
  16. @Trinketos if you can't install real Arch then I recommend Endeavour OS for easy usage. Or you can try other distros that are not based on Arch, e.g. fedora
  17. Manjaro is only good for Linux noobs who want to try Arch but can't install it themselves. Manjaro is usable out-of-the-box and provides good support for gaming. Apart from that, it is trash. The last time I tried it it got itself into an endless loop of dependency clashes and eventually failed to boot. AUR works better on real arch. Remember this: real Arch or no Arch.
  18. I will try to tweak the actor file so that it shows shooting
  19. hmm, so you are suggesting elephants to be these very strong anti-infantry, anti-cavalry units that cannot be used to attack siege or buildings? I like this idea but not sure if many others will. tbh if we want to implement anything at all we have to wait until A27...
  20. Summon more balancing advisors to discuss chariots? Should I make this patch?
  21. You have a point. Sassanid Persians are not implemented yet, so we can't really use their argument... So why has no-one cared about Sassanids and Parthians? Instead of introducing mixed army, let's fix the elephant problem first?
  22. Hmm, so I guess some siege capability but much inferior compared to ram... don't give crush damage but give a lot of pierce and hack.
  23. Surely they aren't as strong as actual rams? So we better nerf their siege ability
