  1. On Arch, AUR is enabled by default and in Manjaro you have to use Octopi (not sure what the gui is called these days) to enable snaps and AUR before you can use them Tbh I just use yay helper
  2. @Trinketos if you can't install real Arch then I recommend Endeavour OS for easy usage. Or you can try other distros that are not based on Arch, e.g. fedora
  3. Manjaro is only good for Linux noobs who want to try Arch but can't install it themselves. Manjaro is usable out-of-the-box and provides good support for gaming. Apart from that, it is trash. The last time I tried it it got itself into an endless loop of dependency clashes and eventually failed to boot. AUR works better on real arch. Remember this: real Arch or no Arch.
  4. I will try to tweak the actor file so that it shows shooting
  5. hmm, so you are suggesting elephants to be these very strong anti-infantry, anti-cavalry units that cannot be used to attack siege or buildings? I like this idea but not sure if many others will. tbh if we want to implement anything at all we have to wait until A27...
  6. Summon more balancing advisors to discuss chariots? Should I make this patch?
  7. You have a point. Sassanid Persians are not implemented yet, so we can't really use their argument... So why has no-one cared about Sassanids and Parthians? Instead of introducing mixed army, let's fix the elephant problem first?
  8. Hmm, so I guess some siege capability but much inferior compared to ram... don't give crush damage but give a lot of pierce and hack.
  9. Surely they aren't as strong as actual rams? So we better nerf their siege ability
  10. What I am suggesting is let the elephant keep its current stats but ban them from attacking buildings (this is easy enough to implement) or give them a negative bonus against buildings so players don't use them as rams. What do you think about using elephants to crush siege weapons? @m7600 Carthaginian, Iberian use priestess. I don't use merchants so I don't know about them
  11. it doesn't make sense andd as I said, I tried to change it but some people like elephants bashing forts :p
  12. It is difficult. I need to consult with other programmers. I am thinking about only giving this mechanic to chariots to distinguish them from regular cavalry. On chariots you should be able to throw stuff in any direction relatively easily.
  13. Another problem: people don't enjoy 0ad purely because it is historically accurate or politically correct, they find it FUN. What makes 0AD enjoyable: the challenge to survive and thrive with your civilisation on a map with limited resources, while facing attacks from the opponent. At no point did absolute historical accuracy come into that statement. We can even forego history completely and make the game full of cheat units, aliens, gunners and so on and it still would be just as enjoyable as long as the balancing works. However, we still want some historical accuracy to be consistent with the theme of Classical era history. Another aspect is commanding these civs to fight with others and rewrite history, which is also fun. It doesn't matter whether Mauryans ever had a fight with Britons, it is fun to watch how it plays out in a theoretical situation and say gg at end. So unit roster is probably more important in my opinion than whether the civs made contact with each other. Sexism is not that important unless it actually offends someone. I am not offended at all because women in 0ad are just javascript AIs, they are not relatable at all so I really don't mind. And what will these units do? We can turn them into monumental structures like the iberian monument
  14. as expected. I run windows in a virtual machine and I feed microsoft with fake data about myself.
  15. The point is, it is perfectly acceptable to have Greek women only farming because that is what the ancient Greek women did whether you like it or not, so this feature is perfectly justified given the setting and historical background. No need to interpret sexism. The only reason why I mentioned two gendered citizen mod was because I thought that not every single male in a city-state is a capable, professional soldier. There has got to me some male civillian population, right?
  16. It's just a game... no need to get too serious about politics and equality unless there is something explicitly sexist /racist
  17. ok. If the default is changed then the mod will also change.
  18. We also need to distinguish chariots from lone horses. Aristeia. I made the Bronze age Egyptian mod.
  19. I think most javelineers would prefer to throw the javelin in front of them. However, we can give this mechanic to chariots only, not other cavalry archers.
  20. Ok. I will upload it 1 hour later. I don't have gpu processing so it will take really long to render anything. :/
  21. That was my thought, although I personally don't feel any sexism in the game and not offended by the idea of cavalry rush killing all women neither. I do that a lot myself!
  22. I am very frustrated by Microsoft and how they make their OS. Windows is the most popular OS in the world so all software developers focus on them. There are so many softwares that can only run on Windows, yet it being a trash OS (getting even worse) is very very frustrating. We are forced to use it because certain software demands it but the experience on Windows is always excruciating.
  23. yes, but we nerf the arrows by increasing their spread to 3 or 4 (you can't target that well if you are on a horse unless you have trained hard) Also we decrease the range and damage of arrows (might not hit directly)
