  1. Another tip is to check the Atlas manual: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Atlas_Manual There are some newer things which needs to be added (anyone with a Trac account can, so if you see something missing please help out), but the basic stuff - including how to interact with Actors (i.e. objects which aren't affecting the gameplay) is there
  2. Now I've finally posted the news piece on ModDB/IndieDB: http://www.indiedb.com/games/0-ad/news/0-ad-modders-host-map-design-contest (should go live within a day from now, depends on when they have time to moderate it though).
  3. Custom settings are in "local.cfg" not user.cfg (that's used for settings the game changes). local.cfg might need to be created, see default.cfg for the location.
  4. Spoofs/satire etc are allowed, would still be nicer to do something unique if we do one though About the logo video, do you mean the one that's e.g. used at the beginning of the Alpha 16 release video: ? Or is it something else you're thinking of?
  5. Could you please follow the instructions on this page:http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths for how to get the relevant information (i.e. log files)? I would say system_info.txt is the most important one in this case.
  6. Would it be ok if I used a couple of those images in a ModDB/IndieDB post about the map contest? (Have been struggling with how to write about it there since they generally want more than just a bit of text, and I haven't been sure what pictures I'd add.)
  7. Ghengis Khan and the Mongols of his time are well out of the time frame of the first version of 0 A.D. (500 B.C. to 1 B.C.), so they will not be included. There are however mods which feature the relevant time period, maybe you can join them to add this faction.
  8. In celebration of the five year anniversary (It's really been five years?! Time flies!) of 0 A.D. going open source the Council of Modders are hosting a map making contest! Please head over to the thread to read more about the rules and rewards, and to submit your maps of course
  9. Alpha 16 is not supported on 12.10, so I don't know if it's possible to install it unless you can build from the source code.
  10. You need to keep the Alt-key pressed while interacting with the actors. But yeah, sadly it seems like Gnome have kidnapped the Alt-key completely in these cases
  11. Attacked units does flash on the minimap as well, but it could of course still be a useful addition to be able to press a key to go to it directly. Iirc AoK had a similar feature where you could cycle through the last notification sounds (i.e. things like building created etc as well) by pressing Home.
  12. Calling someone a pest is certainly being offensive, but the point wasn't whether or not you were being offensive in this specific case. The point was that you don't seem to learn from your mistakes. No matter how many times we've told you to respect the rules for these forums and other forum members in general and team members in particular, you've kept being disrespectful, and we can't let that continue. I don't really see what I can say that can get through to you though, so this is my final post in your direction. Had you actually seemed interested in contributing to this forum and a good environment here I might have cared, but right now my tolerance threshold is very low and you will be permanently banned for anything which isn't constructive. Posting any more in this thread: will get you banned. Insulting people/calling people names: will get you banned. Posting meaningless topics: will get you banned. Sending rude PMs: will get you banned. Etc. The only things which will not get you banned are constructive topics (such as about your ROME mod), or on-topic replies in other people's topics.
  13. No, he just wanted to ask the rest of the team for our opinion on this matter. I have a feeling the answer will be to ban you permanently as that was what the majority of people suggested not the last time you misbehaved on these forums, but the time before that! The only reason we didn't that time was that I felt that it would be unfair to do that for a lesser offense after only having banned you for three days for the bigger one before that, and no one cared enough to argue further. Now I no longer feel that way, so if we make such a decision I will carry it out. You have had more than enough warnings, and yet not displayed a change of behaviour, so there's no point in continuing to give you new chances.
  14. You're really coming back in style Nice work!
  15. Has someone moved this? Otherwise it's most definitely in the correct forum
  16. I don't think Kickstarter has got any such limitations, the main reason for going with IndieGogo was that it had benefits for us as a non-profit project (they don't charge as big percentage for their service for non-profit fundraisers perhaps most importantly).
  17. Well, it's certainly sad when someone leaves, and especially someone who has been as important to the project as Michael. However, I wouldn't say today is the day to call dark. It's not as if he's gone from 100% active to leave, but rather a long process. I'll leave it to him to explain his personal motives if he wants to, but the more general picture is this: after the fundraiser failed to get us enough money to hire him (+ a programmer) he's had to focus more on his job. Leaving less and less time for 0 A.D. It's indeed sad as Michael really was/is the person who had the best idea of what the game should play like, and the historical knowledge to complement it. However, the main thing is that we who are active will do our best to work on the game, not to focus on those who are not active at the moment. I would also not worry too much on a more general note, people have left the project before and it's still kept going (Michael has left several times for that matter). Sometimes progress has been slower, sometimes it's been faster. But so far the project has kept going And I don't see us slowing down now, I'd rather say the opposite: we're getting really close to Beta now imho (There's still a lot of work left before the game is finished of course, but there actually aren't that many missing features now.) About Philip /Ykkrosh) I don't think there's any reason to worry either, he's been more active lately than in years. He wasn't going to work on the project for money though, so that's not something that has/will change either for that matter. If he's motivated to work on the project now or in the future - then he will work on it
  18. I could download it just fine. Wonder what would break the download process
  19. Changed you back So welcome back!
  20. Seeing as you hadn't visited the forums for quite a while + said you were focusing on your modding I changed that. I can easily change you back though, if you consider yourself active again now?
  21. http://referencereference.com/ reference videos for both people and animals, though from a quick look the people vids aren't all that relevant, so this topic is probably the best place to post the link anyway
  22. Forwarding a suggestion sent in via our contact form on the web site:
  23. Looking promising. One thing I can't see that is probably one of the more important things to have is version, both mod version and game version. Not sure what "Mod label" is though? Perhaps that's meant to be something like that.
  24. Hopefully someone else on these forums knows more about Mint and can help, but generally its probably better to contact the maintainers of the specific Linux distribution as we have no control over which versions they put where etc.
  25. As far as I know the good thing about the Nile is just that it provided the farmlands with a lot of good soil when it flooded. But of course water is important in general as well.
