  1. I enabled a three mods and played. The mods: 0 A.D., Millennium A.D. and the formation fighting mod. I saved the game. Then I restarted the game and tried to load my saved game. The filter did not show me my saved game. I had the option to disable the filter. Selected my game and got a warning, saying that my mod selection is incompatible. The only difference the first and second time was the order in which I selected and activated the mods. The first time: 0 A.D., Millennium A.D. and the formation fighting mod. The second time: 0 A.D., the formation fighting mod and Millennium A.D. As you can see only the position of Millennium A.D. and the formation fighting mod are different. However, the order of the mod selection should not matter.

    Bear

Nothing changed. The bear still does not have a dying animation. It still looks strange, if the bear is killed it looks like if the bear just stops walking. It looks like if the bear is just standing around. The cavalry has now really nice animations. The horses go up and the spear comes from the top while fighting. That looks really nice. A nice bear animation similar to the horse one would be really nice. It would be awesome if the bear would could stand up and fight until his/her death. If the bear dies he/she should fall to the side or something.
  3. If I start a game with some settings and then resign during the game and without exiting the game all settings from the previous game are still set. However, the "Revealed map" setting switches back to the default value "explore map".
  4. If you exhaust resources that fast that is your choice. However, you also seem to play mostly competitive multiplayer games. Additionally, it is anybodies choice to cut down all the trees and exhaust all natural renewable resources on a map. However, it would be nice to have the choice to do the opposite.
  5. I agree with @Sundiata here. Herds should be capped either for the entire map or for a herd. Furthermore, I would like to see a difference between female and male animals. Only female animals should be able to reproduce. In addition, every animal needs more or less time to reproduce. A chicken has usually several chicks in a couple of weeks. An elephant, on the other hand is pregnant for around two years. After that they need some time to grow up and they are considered adults at the age of 18. It really depends on the animal how long it takes to get to a baby and how long it takes to grow up. This also explains why we domesticate different animals as food source. However, I think the animal topic should be put into a separate forum post.
  6. An engine split would be interesting for mods which want to become their own game, but still use the Pyrogenesis engine.
  7. I agree with @stanislas69 it is much harder to include a civilization into the mod. First a civilization has to be researched, models have to be created, documentation, sound has to be selected or created, the legal aspects have to be handled, the civilization has to be balanced, maps have to be created and quality assurance has to be done. The civilizations currently included in the game went through several iteration of development. I also agree, the new mod downloader in 0 A.D. makes downloading mods easy. The only thing you have to do as a user is to select a mod and press download, wait until the download completed, select the mod and play. Furthermore, keep in mind, that 0 A.D. and the Pyrgoenesis development will slow down, if more and more content is added. Because every time a bigger change is made, which requires adjustments for every civilization all civilizations have to be modified.
  8. @Rolf Dew I think you overestimate the impact of trees regrowing. If you decide to cut all the trees right away, trees will not grow anymore. Like I mentioned, one condition is that you do not cut all trees in a forest. Grown trees have to be still around to regrow trees. Second trees regrow slowly, meaning it will take 10+ minutes to have another fully grown tree. Furthermore, there would be no change with maps where you have a lack of wood (mostly deserts). The only change here would be do you want to wait 10+ minutes to have a new tree or do you cut all trees right away? In addition, it would make trees more valuable. Currently, if you want wood you go to a place you cut all the trees and bring your soldiers back to safety. With regrowing trees you might have an interest to protect trees or a forest. Regarding merchants, yes having merchants help a lot on maps where you have a lot of space, because the trade income depends on the travel distance of the merchants. On maps where you have neither water nor a lot of space, regrowing trees could be a game changer. For example, mountainous places tend to be exactly like that, you might just have two or three valleys. What do you do, cut would on a sustainable rate or do you cut them all at once? I think the choice should be up to the individual player.
  9. Maybe or we just assume it is not possible. The rest of your post is exactly what I had in mind.
  10. @Jeru I have seen the discussion. However, the "Software in the Public Interest" (SPI) collects money via PayPal from users or for Europe through the Verein zur Förderung Freier Informationen und Software e.V. (short ffis), which means you are covered in the US and in the EU. Maybe I am missing something, but would it not be enough to simply link the PayPal account from the SPI to Liberapay? For me it seems like you figured out the legal already through the SPI and ffis. Additionally, it should not matter if you receive many small donations or do you have to list every donor individually? Furthermore, is it possible to fund individual members of the 0 A.D. team? For example, because the person invests a lot of time into creating content or developing some features I really care about? Or would this violate some 0 A.D. or SPI policies? Furthermore, in my opinion the Liberapay team could work together with the SPI to make donations via Liberapay possible.
  11. People need to clear up spaces that is correct. However, I am talking about slowly growing trees. If there is a building already, then trees can not grow there anymore. In addition, 10 minutes in game feel like a very long time. Even, three minutes feel long. Furthermore, trees should only appear if there are still trees or bushes around, not just randomly all over the map. I think the best way of doing this would be to remember where a tree stood in the first place and spawn a new small tree at the same place. Under the condition that there are trees still around. If you use 20 workers to cut a tree, they will cut all trees in a short amount of time. So, you would actually not have a benefit from regrowing trees. You only have a benefit if you use maybe 1-3 workers or so.
  12. Wow, that is nice. I did not expect to get an answer like this. Keep up the good work.
  13. "Liberapay is a recurrent donations platform". They accept donations via Stripe and PayPal. Some people already donated money to 0 A.D. https://liberapay.com/on/twitter/play0ad However, 0 A.D. currently does not collect the money donated via Liberapay. Is there a chance that 0 A.D. will make use of Liberapay in the future?
  14. I would like to see a weather simulation in 0 A.D. It would be nice to have weather events such as rain, dark clouds, bright sun, snow and desert winds. This would produces an entirely different feeling in maps. However, weather simulations can become annoying if they influence the map or game play to much.
  15. I am playing 0 A.D. for quite a while now. I like the game a lot. One thing I do not like is, maps often times look pretty at the beginning, but over time the look and feel of maps decline because of massive deforestation. The maps start to look very empty. Furthermore, deforestation seems to have been an issue for the Roman empire: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_during_the_Roman_period#Consequences_of_deforestation - https://www.researchgate.net/publication/45407393_Ancient_Deforestation_Revisited There are games in which trees grow slowly over time and are therefore a renewable resource. One game which implements such a model is Stronghold Crusader. I would love to see small trees spawning and growing over time in 0 A. D. I think this would make long matches or scenarios in which one side does not have a lot resources more interesting. After all wood is a renewable resource.
  16. The question is can Han-Chinese names be included. That would require to include them in the main game. If Han-Chinese will be included into the main game, Han-Chinese names can be included into the suggestion. There is more than one possible trans-Atlantic link prior to 1492. First, Leif Erikson who sailed to Canada around the year 1000. I am not sure how strong the evidence is in this case. Another possible trans-Atlantic is the voyage of St. Brendan. His voyage is more disputed. I do agree that we do not have proven evidence of trans-Atlantic link to pre-Columbian civilizations before 1492 AD. However, it is not impossible either.
  17. I barely see adds. I simply block them. Unless I specifically want to support a news website or a service. However, in cases where I want to support them I am often times willing to support them by paying money directly to the creators. I hope that we will have more platforms such as Liberapay. Platforms which allow me to fund and support people creating tangible and intangible things I care about. I my opinion the middle layer, those who do not do anything valuable or a system which ensures a small percentage of creators make thousands and the rest can barley sustain from their creations. Article 13 just codifies the current status where publishers try to survive, because they do not want to adjust. They do not want to create new business models. New disruptive models will destroy them long term anyways.
  18. For me it is always fascinating how people argue civilization X and Y did not interact. First of all, if two civilization exist then they spread somehow to that part of the world. Second, history as a science has evolved rapidly especially after WWII. We know more about Celts and Germanic peoples than we knew 70 years ago. I picked specifically those two, because National Socialism abused history extremely when comes to Germanic peoples and Celts. We today know that they were immigrants. Linguists actually figured out that a large population of the world speaks Indo-European languages. The theory is that there must be some sort of common origin. The current model locates this origin somewhere in today's Russia. Furthermore, we don't know much about the Phoenicians. They where excellent traders and sailors. The Phoenicians had extensive trade routes. However, even today we don't exactly know all of their trade routes. Maybe they were in contact with more African and European cultures than we currently know. My point is that we should not try to limit the factions we include in 0 A. D. to only the ones we know had direct contact with ancient Greeks or Romans. I would much rather like to see a snapshot of the world as it was around the year 0 a. d.
  19. 0 A. D. is today in a better very good shape. I did not encounter any weird bugs while playing the main game. The addition Alpha is really more a joke at this point. I think after Y and Z, 0 A. D. should be named Beta 1 and after iterating through all letters from A - Z again we should continue with Gamma 1 etc. Basically using the Greek alphabet to indicate how often we counted from A - Z.
  20. I am also for the name Xerxes or Xšayaṛša. At the end both are names for the same Persian king. In addition, it would be nice to have a playable scenario/mission of one of the battles fought by Xerxes.
  21. Yes, the proposed article 13 in the new law is stupid. However, it does not really affect 0 A.D., because most or all of the content is under free licenses.
  22. @stanislas69 Can you give a quick summary of what has to be fixed, what is not working. I read through the entire topic, but lost the overview at page 3 and 4.
  23. @stanislas69 Yes, if you have Word, which I don't have and I don't want to have.
  24. @stanislas69 You wrote your LAN Tutorial.pdf in Word and than exported it to PDF. You basically did what I described, first write it as text document and then convert it to PDF. Here is a copy and paste of your bullet point list:       Some 0 A.D. knowledge (how to set up a game, choose match, etc). A working LAN network, with a DHCP router. (Using a switch requires more settings). Very few knowledge about windows (Where to find the run command Windows key + R). 0 A.D. installed on each machine you want to play with. The same mods on both side. Some patience. You can see that the bullet points are images. Here is the same example in Markdown: # Prerequisites - Some 0 A.D. knowledge (how to set up a game, choose match, etc). - A working LAN network, with a DHCP router. (Using a switch requires more settings). - Very few knowledge about windows (Where to find the run command Windows key + R). - 0 A.D. installed on each machine you want to play with. - The same mods on both side. - Some patience. and I attached the example.md file and the pandoc generated pdf as well. In addition, if you write it in markdown you can put it in a repository and have all the benefits of source control. That is not something everybody is familiar with, but if you are you don't want to miss it. example.md example.pdf
  25. is this statement correct: all the Kushite units, buildings etc. are translated for those languages for which 0 A.D. is translated to 100%. For more information about the translation status of different languages in 0 A.D. have a look at: https://www.transifex.com/wildfire-games/0ad/ Dutch for example is only translated to 92%. And we do not have any translations for any Cushitic language: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cushitic_languages or for Sudanese Arabic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudanese_Arabic Help wanted for people with recording equipment. Where do I have to go if I would like to help with that? (I am asking in general) This is important for future releases, but not for the upcoming? --- @stanislas69 Yes, you can search in PDFs and yes Google is able to index them, but the reason why google can do this so well is because they spend some efforts and resources to make tools and algorithms which are able recognize objects in images and extract text from PDFs. However, it is hard to copy and paste text from PDFs or work with them. It is much easier to write a text document (Markdown or any other format) and create documents in different formats, including PDF, from the text document. For example, most programming languages make it easy to work with text documents, working with PDF documents is much harder. Furthermore, PDF has some issues when it comes to accessibility. --- Yes, it would be nice to have the game related content in the 0 A.D. wiki. Thanks for pointing that out @stanislas69. However, I think the content which is mostly about the historical Kushites would make a great wikibook. But I do not want to speak for @Sundiata since I do not know what his plans are.
