  1. As far as I see most if not all templates (including intermediaries) are already copied to Delenda Est. So the DE speed values aren't affected after all, no? Attached the unit_summary_table.html for delenda est and svn (after adding the "glory" resource to unitTables.py) showing that the intermediary template speed values didn't actually change in DE. So might not be that big of a deal, as the non-intermediary templates should therefore also have the same numbers. We 0ad devs often rewrite the entire thing from top to bottom to ease future changes and improve maintenance. But since DE doesn't change much of code but more templates, we can remember that for the stakeholder analysis for future template patches. unit_summary_table.zip

  2. When I look at the staff directory, there's a lot of people who I'm sure have added a lot of value to the game at some point in the past 15 years, but many of them haven't even been on this forum in more than a year. Currently there is a relatively small group of high value content producers, who are all fundamental to the continued development of this game, and they're not even all staff. Wowgetoffyourcellphone is one of these, and needs to be accommodated as one of the most important mod-producers here, offering a quality alternative to the vanilla game, and in turn spurring the development of this game, generating interest and raising it's potential even further. I'm not saying he's right (I don't understand the issue, like literally, I don't understand code), but he shouldn't be treated so dismissively. I've only been active on this forum since December, but I've been following it for many years, and I've noticed a dark and obscure, self-defeating trend in this otherwise lovely community. High quality content producers, like artists, modders and coders barely get any kind of feedback on their work. No reactions, compliments, constructive criticisms... Sometimes nothing at all. And sometimes it can even get snarky, like now (and we've probably all been guilty of that at some point). If someone spends hours on top of hours, even week after week, or even years working on a project, all for 2 likes and an "oh, that's nice", it makes people lose heart, as if their work wasn't even worth all that effort (while it really was). My point is that human resources are by far the most valuable resource of this game, and this shouldn't be treated so lightly. In the past few months, so much amazing stuff has been created not only for the Kushite faction or Delenda Est, but also for a Xiognu (mini?)-faction, the Thracians, the Norse, Anglo-Saxons, Hyrule Conquest and so many other things like experimental balancing mods and map-scripts, the order move indicator and a bunch of crazy code stuff I honestly don't understand, all with barely any reaction from the vast majority of people in this community. Why is everybody so silent? Stimulate development. Encourage artists. Showcase people's work. Help newbies acquire skills in the necessary fields by updating/simplifying the necessary wiki's/pages and improving user friendliness for non code-savy people. Welcome new people, ideas and content. Be patient with each other. Be patient with yourselves, and forgive one another's transgressions. Potatoes

  4. I smell some unsettled past thing. I don't care, I just want that everyone just continue enjoying with the development of the game. Sure, let's keep going and forget is not always possible nor desirable. But I just hope that everybody can have their personal (or dialogue) process and feel better.

  6. The engine pyrogenesis is covered by the GPL licence which is the most common Open Source one in the world a quick google will find all the so called terms and services the major requirement is that you make the source code available to anyone who wants it you can find all of ours in our svn repository or it's GitHub clone and the licence text will also be a text file in that repo. Enjoy the Choice

  7. Busy atm. A phabricator proposal or a23 trac ticket would help scheduling this.

  9. Hello hello everybody! It's me, back again, from Alpha21 and a long overview series of 0AD Alpha22, to bring to you the next revolution in 0AD entertainment! Regular MP streams! (I hope...) I played about 6 months ago in Alpha21 and had a huge amount of fun in 0AD. But due to life stuff I had to drop it for sometime, but now I've finished all my current running youtube series, I thought I best get back into streaming, and with the teaser for Age of Empires 4 we got at Gamescom, I thought, why not, I should stream some 0AD to celebrate! So my first live stream on twitch for 0AD will be... today! Later this evening, probably around 6pm GMT. I may be a bit late (or early, hopefully early), whilst I sort out my OBS and streaming options. Should be good to go though! I'd love to see you guys hanging out in the chat, so I can reacquaint myself with the community and get some quality games going tonight. On the side, I'll be doing commentaries of the recorded games that I play, observe, or people send in for me to do commentaries on. Looking forward to it! https://www.twitch.tv/chaffcommandercoffey

  11. I think this is just miscommunication, with old grudges and unsaid stuff. The mod will work yes, but I guess the point was about having to adapt to a cleanup change that might have broken some templates, which you would have to find, And I remember delenda est having a lot of templates because of added civs. So I think it's more about having something to change that you expected not to have to than actually the change itself.

  12. Honestly, I don't understand what's going on here. If a mod worked before this patch, it should also work afterwards. There is no need to change any templates if you don't want to.

  13. Yeah, it seems like a matter of miscommunication. There was no information given that the change would not be required for mods as well on the one hand, but on the other hand, @wowgetoffyourcellphone just assumed that he would have to change everything rather than ask if it was the case.

  14. Lol its pretty easy to see he was just concerned his templates were broken for no reason other than to clean up code. I think that concern has been dispelled fairly swiftly by the other programmers, leper just pushed all his buttons in the process.

  15. Hi, your mod installs the whole uncompressed tree. Do you know that you should create a zip file containing all your files? This should have better loading performance rather than what providing all extracted files. See what 0ad does, it provides an uncompressed public.zip with all the files. Also do you know you should manage your texture files as png during development and then use the pyrogenesis executable to convert them to .dds? This is also what 0ad is doing. You may want to have a look here for more info on how to prepare a release: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/ReleaseProcessDraft#PackageEastAsianmods Than you may want to directly distribute the (uncompressed) hyrule-conquest.zip file, eventually you can compress it with 7z to have a compression ratio similar to the .exe you actually provide, so that every user (also on Linux and OS X) can install it without problem.

  17. That's just the nature of an open source project. Everyone has their own vision and they collide either creatively or destructively. I know I quit 'solo modding' after I honed my skills enough to get a feel for how things work. Modding is a waste of time at this point if you're looking for an end product. The thing is Terra Magna is a testing ground for civs so it wont break so often, Delenda Est and other balance mods are gameplay mods so you're going to be locking antlers with the dev team when we make any kind of progress/clean up code. You have to understand too, I'm sure many of the devs are just as embittered about this. I know I haven't really had fun playing 0 AD since A16 did away with multiplier counters, and later PA. Not to say I didn't have a smattering of fun games along the way. My job here is easy enough in that I just have to make things look pretty. I have my own vision for this game, but I'd rather see things centralized and strong than contribute to this 'warring states' period we're going through now.

  18. Yeah, good luck on this fecking game. I'll take a look in 5-6 years to see if you've finished it yet. Done wasting my time trying to improve this on this pice of chit. "Good bye and good riddance." There, said it for you.

  19. So don't. Where's the problem? If you decide to change intermediary templates in a mod instead of adding new ones you have to deal with changes anyway. So either deal with them or don't deal with them, but stop complaining.

  20. But that doesn't break downstream templates, right? The values are still the same and several layers of inheritance work perfectly. Even if I'm wrong, unfortunately this kind of change is important if we want a tidy codebase which we can work on. Sorry for the inconvenience (if any)...

  21. I think that's because we have a too small coverage. Because me @wowgetoffyourcellphone @kali_ @Skhorn @Tiber7 @shieldwolf23 @Hannibal_Barca could have participated in that. That gives interesting challenge but if we could gather social media coverage it would be way more fun. @daker
