  1. GenieBot is muting people for saying wtf, which is a common abbreviation for will to fight.

  2. still in alpha development, the bot uses simple regex expression to check repetition of same words in a sentence more than 3 times ( it's not the best way ), and consider it as spam. example typing "aaa aaa aaa" will be flagged as spam. There are more better approach to making the spam filter more accurate.

  3. The sole purpose is obviously to trigger the bot, this really feels like arguing with my 10 years old nice.

  4. What is really kafkaesque is the issue as was recently demonstrated in the forums. And if people do something in an attempt to fix this they get criticized or even attacked. It's very obvious that all those mentions weren't in context were will to fight would be used in abbreviated form normally. Seriously just get used to use w2f in future. It doesn't really matter where you set the bar, just handle it consistently. That being said, the list of offensive terms or it's source should be publicly maintained.

  7. Ministers also have to be buffed if you want anyone to make them. Right now, you're better off just making a unit that can eco because the discounts are so small. I would suggest 5% instead of the 2%.

  8. I think this could be good, might make the ministers more accessible. Also, there is no need for ministers to cost 2 pop, the cost is prohibitive enough to spam.

  10. Thanks—appreciate it For what it’s worth, I think the bot is good because it explains why things happen.

  11. Yes, thanks for reporting the issue on the forum instead of playing with the bot and spamming chat like Akazid, nz and Rauls did. Defc0n (rossenburg) told me that he has already made adjustments to how often [GenieBot] responds to profanity in the lobby.

  12. Another thing is that it seems to consider normal conversations spam. Whatever character threshold that is used for considering something spam may need to be increased. I saw a warning go up for a sentence of about 30 to 40 characters.

  13. I'm not a history buff, but this is true of the Middle Ages. The Genovese crossbowmen were famed mercenaries and had all of the described advantages in closer ranges compared to archers, but when the English created obstacles to slow down their enemies' approach, their also highly regarded longbowmen were able to launch a barrage of arrows at the opposing crossbowmen who couldn't get close enough to shoot. I can see this being true for Han crossbows.

  14. Are we really banning "wtf"?

  15. @chrstgtr the bot doesn't have permission to mute users yet. It does send a report to moderators and lobby helpers whenever it detects profane or pejorative in the chat. It also alert players not to use that word. Incase you got muted by any means, it is not related to the bot but instead a moderator or lobby helper took that action. Could be several reasons: wtf itself shouldn't be used in the lobby as its obviously "what the f*ck" not "will to fight" . If you are getting reported for typing wtf when it you meant will to fight then its advisable to type the full word Spam: the bot itself has cooldown features which allows it to decide if it has already responded to what a user said within a certain duration and stops responding to the same message until the cooldown is over Upon checking, the mute action was taken by a moderator because wtf is considered "what the f*ck" and has nothing to do with the bot itself. The bot will of course alert moderators whenever there are profanes in the lobby. Thanks for the report, don't forget to report any unusual activities in the lobby as the bot is in alpha stage, we will continue to work on it

  16. This mod was one of the best mods I've ever seen on a game. i tried it out in October and I was very disappointed with the game-play from it's predecessaor in 2019. I recall the designer being by the name @UndyingNephalim, and I wanted to know if he had a discord. I'd love to continue working on the mod although I think 0 AD needs a complete UI overhaul in order to really make it a snappy experience, like Project Celeste.

  18. potential sources of inspiration for some units. I think it's fair to say that boarding vessels was a very common approach, so there might be some benefit to using 0ad's own capturing mechanic. Maybe on all ships, or some class of ships designated as boarding vessels. This would mean all ships may be captured and either all ships can capture or select ship types can capture. In this case, one could give ships fairly low capture points so that land units could capture a neglected ship used for landing.

  19. The Democratic champion could be Syrakousios Epilektos, a citizen Hoplite chosen for excellence. The Oligarchic champion could be Geomori Hippeus, a member of the landed aristocratic class. The Tyrannical mercenaries could include, depending on the hero selected, the infamous Mamertinoi hired by Agathocles which ravaged the land, and the Calabrian Sileraioi hired by Dionysius I.

  20. For clothing maybe something like this: Basic:Wearing only pants, loincloth or naked. Advanced:Barechested or naked with a cloak (From Roman art and Tacitus'descriptions it seems they often wore the cloak without the tunic) Elite:Cloak and tunic. Maybe the champions could have armor; but they have a chance of spawning without it. Other ways to distinguish them from citizen units would be to give them scabbards, some kind of jewelry (The neckchains described in Germania?) and fancier clothes. Possibly use this sort of ''flannel'' pattern. Shields could be used as well: Basic:Oval or Rectangular shield with wooden boss Advanced:Oval, rectangular or hexagonal shield with wooden boss Elite: Oval, rectangular or hexagonal shield; metal reinforced spina or metal boss Champion: Rectangular or hexagonal shield; metal boss with some having reinforced rim For javelin units you'd have: Basic: Wicker Shield Advanced:Small oval or Rectangular shield with wooden boss Elite: Small oval or rectangular shield; metal reinforced spina or metal boss The patterns on the shield could vary according to rank too I think this is would be a good idea for a bonus; maybe could call it ''Furor Teutonicus''.

  21. LODs are great and all, but there' absolutely no need for the "high quality" version of that goat for an RTS.

  24. It's great that you're supporting open licensed content creators with so much music. I would like to use some of the music that you have shared, but I have a concern. License terms that are subjective are a risk to potential licensees. Different people might define certain terms differently, and it can be unpredictable how a court would interpret those terms. "Obscene" for example has a wide range of interpretations. "Pornographic" less so, although there is debate about how to define nudity without sexual context. How do you personally define the words "obscene" and "pornographic"? Can you include a definition for these words in your official statements about the license, please? Suppose that someone makes a video of 0 A.D. gameplay and uses your music as background music. And, suppose that a player used curse words in some of the chat messages that were captured by the video. Would you consider such a video to be "obscene" and therefore not allowed to use your music? Here is another test case. Sometimes there are situations where non-soldier citizens are killed by soldiers in 0 A.D. Would you consider that obscene? Now consider that all non-soldier citizens are currently only women in the game. Do you consider it obscene if a woman is killed by a soldier in the gameplay? Some of the units in the game have little clothing on. Where do you personally draw the line between "tight beach bod" and "pornographic"?

  25. If the Han did not have repeating crossbows, then we can't have the tech. Without the repeater mechanism and magazine, a crossbow is not faster than a bow. It's easier to operate. Easier to train on, etc. That's why I wanted them to be trash units.
