  2. You're not looking at the right branch I haven't merged back into master yet everything is in signed. That's a protected branch that automatically uploads to mod.io

  5. i searched for motivation postings. why player love this game like so: site:https://wildfiregames.com what makes the game so special - motivation so i think maybe interesting to start this post. what i personally really much love is: i could try modify it self ( We chose to release the art of 0 A.D. under CC BY-SA to allow people to mod the game ..(2010, https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Case_Studies/0_A.D.) meet people all over the world works in linux (and many other OS) i love hotkeys instead of mouse movements => i love autoCiv <3 and love modify it (of course other great mods: boonGui,kateAutoCiv,feldmap, .... but autoCiv ist the most important for me) and yes i love strategies very much more then shut and run thinks. sometimes i feel a bit uncomfortable that's it being a some kind of war game. and yes i don't like decrease pop self (we often do it if we are in popMax) BTW some motivation you could also find here: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/18475-where-are-you-from/

  8. Recently stumbled across 0AD, which I'm now running on two different Linux platforms (Arch/Manjaro), and am keenly impressed. Can't thank those behind this effort enough for making such a fascinating FOSS opportunity to enjoy a rich and well-conceived RTS game. In trying to absorb the basics, input controls, build/boom methods, and - most recently - the armed conflict aspects of 0AD, I've come across some seemingly odd behavior. I will make a separate post about that shortly... Meanwhile, just wanted to express my gratitude to those who have supported this project for all these years. Hopefully I too can contribute in some way over time.

  10. Based on game type, could you guys make the Map is off, the player dont know where his/her position in map, maybe the map is on but your position is at the center, after specific condition fullfill, then you know your exact location on the map.

  13. The last match has been played, we can now start the 2nd round! Standings are here as always: https://challonge.com/sv36zmko/standings But first I have an announcement: the new version of feldmap (0.2.1) has been signed! It is now available on mod.io. This new version drops the quite imbalanced Nubia biome, so now we can drop the previous convoluted biome rules, and back to simply a random biome setting. Note: if you previously installed feldmap manually and wish to update through mod.io, I recommend you first delete the mod to avoid bad surprises. __________________________________________________ Round 2 matches: @ValihrAnt vs @Edwarf @Feldfeld vs @LetswaveaBook @Player of 0AD vs @Dakara @MarcusAureliu#s vs @Philip the Swaggerless @borg- vs @chocapoca @rm -rf vs @BeTe @alre vs @seeh The deadline for this round is Wednesday 23, 23:59 UTC. If all matches are finished sooner we could try to get closer to the original schedule but that's not a priority. Please try to organize your match as soon as possible using forum private messaging! Beware of timezone differences. Please message me personally if your opponent doesn't answer you after 2-3 days. EDIT: I see there is a new Community Mod version released, please update and use it for this round!

  15. Mission 39 is now also converted to a25. Yay. For the next mission, I need to figure out how to properly teleport units (basically, you have dug tunnels into the city that needs to be conquered :). The previous attempt worked but it was very hacky and not every type of unit could be teleported. Ideally, what I need is a function that given the entity ID, it tells me the template of the entity so I can spawn that exact template. Does such a function exist? Thanks!

  17. I played many in previous Alphas and now I have time to play again. I have found that there are no moderators and that some pro players are quite toxic. It seems to me a more serious problem than smurf accounts and other bad practices that are easier to control. So, in addition to what administrators can do, I've considered using these simple rules in the games I host. Sorry if they are somewhat poorly written because I use an automatic translator. I like the rules that Norse Harold puts into his games. I think they are good for creating a friendly and fun culture around the game, however I think it is possible to simplify them to make them more effective and focused on the worst current problems: the toxic behaviors of some pro players. I would like to know your opinion about these rules and your suggestions. Thank you very much and sorry for my bad English. I only speak Spanish. See you in the game. Rules: 1. Be kind and helpful to newbies and other players. 2. Toxic comments can lead to immediate expulsion 3. Pro players must set an example of good behavior. 4. Don't quit or leave early. Play as a team and share resources.

  18. The games that I host typically involve intermediate level players. I think that applying rules to games involving "pro" players (meaning players who are the most skilled, currently active players in public games) has different challenges from applying rules to intermediate level games. There are some players who have chosen to conform to the rules while playing in my games, and there are some players who have chosen to simply not join my games. This is a good thing in my opinion, because then it's voluntary cooperation for those participating in the game. The players who have chosen to simply not join my games and continued with their disruptive and toxic behavior tend to be "pro" players, unfortunately. I think that they've been acting in an absence of rules for such a long period of time that they think it's normal. Something needs to be done, but you'll quickly find that trying to force players who potentially have psychological disorders to follow rules might have retaliatory reaction from them. I say don't force anything, just make games with rules and see who joins. If the pro/disruptive players don't join games that you host then don't force them to join (and therefore be subject to the rules). Some of the "pro" players have already been joining the games that I host and following the rules. Hopefully more of the "pro" players will voluntarily decide to follow rules and set an example for the others.

  19. 1. Runs on Windows, Linux, BSD, MacOS - anyone can play it. 2. Open source, free, no pay to win 3. 2D - doesn't cause motion sickness; very comfortable to play with. 4. A game that combines intelligence, reaction time, control skills and interpersonal skills. 5. You can engage in a long conversation with real humans and I found that many players are like minded to me (STEM) 6. Amazing graphics (before you apply my mod) 7. Almost endless content, many different ways to play, a huge variety of maps and gamemodes. 8. If I find an imperfection, I can make a mod to fix it by myself, unlike other games that prevent you from enjoying it. 9. Very supportive forum

  20. Thanks a lot for posting this Dizaka. You rule! You're right that it's very simple. Are you distributing it under a free software license? Perhaps public domain, or GPLv2? For anyone who hasn't found the script yet, here are some instructions. First, download the most recent file at the link that Dizaka provided. The file is named "2021.03.21 (H 73.29.147.140) DDOSER HERE.zip" Within that archive you will find "0adextract.py". In order to use it you will need to have a Python interpreter installed. Most Linux computers have Python3 installed already or else available as a distro-supported package. If you're on Windows or Mac then you can download Python and install it. Then place "0adextract.py" in your 0 A.D. logs folder. This page explains where to find the logs folder. After each game of 0 A.D. that you host, shut down 0 A.D., double-click 0adextract.py, and then rename "mainlog_ips.txt" to "mainlog_ips_[date_and_time].txt". "[date_and_time]" means the date and time in international format. Examples: October 13, 2021 at 6:24 pm (18:24) UTC would be written as 2021-10-13_1824+0000 February 29, 2024 at 4:20 am (04:20) CEST would be written as 2024-02-29_0420+0200 Dizaka, if you apply a free software license to your script then guerringuerrin and I can make improvements, for example automatic renaming of the output file with the current date and time.

  21. My two cents as a long time, off and on player: Formations are the one thing I want to see really working above anything else. Formations and unit cohesion were such a big part of ancient warfare that the game really loses a lot of immersion for me in that we see wild mobs of units engaging one another as the default. I would very much like to see formations as the default setting for groups of units. It seems to me that each formation type needs to have bonuses and tradeoffs for units within it. Directional damage would be super. I would very much like to see battlefield tactics become more important, forced even, upon players. Terrain bonuses play a big part of this too. The game is still fun and playable without these features, but I feel that really in the long run the game would be better served if there were more attention paid to how players field their units before, during, and even after battle.
