  1. Recently a server named "Family" has been infecting its members with malicious codes which automatically spams all of their server channels and DMs with duplicates of invite links to this server. The infected user will not realise until someone complains to them about spamming. If you see this invitation, please please DO NOT TOUCH IT and mute the user sending it as well as any server moderator. This phishing server is gaining members extremely quickly and the malware is spreading, so please don't help it rampage any further. The link looks like this:

  2. The image is very inappropriate for "family". Clicking on an unexpected invite is unreasonable. If one suspects a security issue opening a ticket with Discord Inc is the appropriate turn of action. I agree the OP sounds very unlikely to be true but you never know. ... the other me got infected and suggests to create another account on discord if changing password doesn't help ...

  3. Not at all. Javelin cavary will win in a close range battle because they have higher damage per second, whereas camels can take advantage of their extra range to harass units while standing safely from afar. Camel rush on infantry is fatal as they can escape easily then return when you want to retreat. On the other hand, if you would like to engage a huge army, the javelin cavalry's superior damage will make them to better option as they can wipe out enemy units more quickly to ensure a win.

  4. I think given the historical context vishkanya units should be aura based units instead of archers. We already have similar units in Gauls (Trumpeter) which reduces the attacks of units by 10%. For vishkanya's I have smilar suggestion instead of reducing attack, they will reduce health by 1 dps in their range. They will be like anti healers. Following stats can be added for them. Cost: 180 food, 120 metal, pop 1, 24 sec train time Health 100 Poison: 1, 10 meters, 1 second It will be really interesting to do stealth play. Scenario plays Sneaking vishkanya among working units. Killing them over time. Combing with melee units for extra damage Great in playing dedensive as weak units will die under their influence. @borg-, @rossenburg, @Grapjas , and @alre, what do you guys think?

  8. Suggestion to put a stop to the plague of rage-quitting/leaving games early on 0AD The Issue Hello all, after airing an idea to put a stop to rage-quitting and early leaving of games by players, it was suggested I come to the forums and post it here. I'm a casual 0AD player, and really returned to play after 4 years but I see the scourge of rage-quitting is still alive and well in the online game. It seems particularly prevalent amongst lower level players <1200 who may be new to the game or simply not want to lose their current rating. however, this has also happened to me when playing a highly rated prominent player within the 0ad community. In my experience, it usually occurs during the latter stages of a game when a player knows he//she has lost, but instead of taking the hit and losing some insignificant rating points, they will leave the game without resigning. This costs the opposing player the point that they would have won, and it is particularly galling after a game that may have lasted a long duration. As a player attempting to climb from a low rating, this has personally cost me a lot of points. For example, I played three rated matches today against players who were <1200, although they were still rated higher than me. In two of those games, the player left the game as it was clear I was getting the upper hand. In my opinion, something has to be done about this. I know players are encouraged to come on here and post then usernames of players who do not resign but this is far too much to ask. It has evidently not been effective and those who want to play casually will not do so. The rage-quit issue turns away new players from the game and discourages older players too. It often takes a duration to find a game with someone near your player level due to the relatively small player-base and one may often invest a long time in single games - so to be confronted by a rage-quitting opponent is totally discouraging. It has often led to me taking long spans away from the game. The Solution I propose the 'Chess.com model' be introduced to 0AD multiplayer gameplay. I call it the Chess.com model as the online chess website/app is somewhere that I have come across an aspect which may work for this game. Anyone that plays chess on the app knows that each game has a winner and a loser (it is free if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about). You cannot rage-quit a game and have your rating unaffected. This is not the case on 0AD. If a player leaves without resigning and the other player plays on until the end (when he wins), he is not rewarded with any points as the other player had left. Even if the player was rewarded, this still is not right as he may have to play for a significant time until he can destroy/conquer all the opposing player's structures. If a player leaves a chess match without resigning on chess.com (e.g say they close the tab on PC or close the mobile application), the opposing player is rewarded the victory (and rating points) if the other player does not return to the game in a certain amount of time. I believe this period is a minute although it could be extended to five or a bit more for the purposes of 0AD. This would allow players with internet problems or what not to return to the game while rage-quitters would be punished and the ethical player rewarded. I know sometimes players have emergencies or what not where they have to leave the game but there cannot be exceptions made for this either. At the end of the day, it is only rating points you lose, but if a player invests a lot of time in a game and is left with nothing for being the better user, this is not right. Chess.com also allows players to leave a game in its very early stages using the 'abort' feature, without damaging their rating. This could be implemented in 0Ad too, although I feel it is not important. I can articulate upon this more if needs be, but I would suggest anyone have a look at how Chess.com operates. This suggestion may attract criticism and it may not be perfect, but I believe it would significantly benefit the game an reward ethical players. It may also work to keep new players scorned by bad experiences. I know nothing of game development but I suspect this feature may not be too difficult to implement. Thank you for reading (my essay). I don't think I have posted before and I may never again as I am a very casual player but I feel this had to be said. Similar suggestions may have been posted here before and I apologize for my ignorance of any of those in advance.

  9. the concept is the same engine wise, just a unit that is not automatically targeted by other units / buildings. The shrubbery is just the excuse to allow it. Because why wouldn't a unit be noticed, if it is not hidden by something.

  11. Now i've got to ask, how do these phishing links even work? If by just clicking on a link inside Discord you can lose your account there has to be some serious security vulnerabilities there right? It's not like you give your password after all.

  12. there is https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4291 which could be repurposed/ expanded for general units. But that's a whole other discussion about how exactly stealth should work

  13. Another Visha Kanya discussion. We still have two different units with that name and neither fits their historical description. I like @Darkcity's idea of an anti-healer unit; maybe we should use the melee variant for that. It could have a general poison aura and 5x against heroes and champions. Since we didn't get the camouflage the last seven years, I'm not too optimistic we'll get it within the next seven. Here's @Yekaterina's previous Visha Kanya thread:

  16. probably already been written many times, but yeah: - right click on "no formation" in order to have no formation in use by default (current default is very bad for competitive play, and it's going to be worse in next alpha) - only use formations to regroup your men quickly, especially at the beginning of an engagement (usually after first contact happened without any use of formations) - end formations immediately after you created it. never leave units in formation while they are fighting. you can use attack-move for that, because attack-move immediately disbands any formation.

  17. I don't know why someone should do that, but it's maybe in this case the pattern could be broken up? true, maybe also in this case the pattern could be inactive the problem with differention by row is, that if 10 portraits fit into one row, with 11 buildings you would already need 2 rows and would have 9 unused spots in the second row. While with columns of 3, the need for space is less. If there are 4, then it would be 3 + 1, so only 2 unused spots. Also there are already 13 buildings for phase 1 for the Athenians e.g. One block for each phase: Sorted by function, how it looks in village phase: How it looks in city phase: so the late buildings are all downwards, i hope that'd be intuitive enough

  22. The former would be nice. Maybe not upgrade them into full-fledged city walls, but a stone version of palisades would be cool. To the latter, it's already possible to upgrade Sentry Towers to Defense Towers.

  23. @woodpecker, when Windows determines which process to attribute UDP network traffic to, I think that its algorithm is very simple. I think that Windows just looks for a process with the same source port open as that of the incoming network packets. The symptoms that you have described sound very much like a ddos attack (100% network utilization) and a dos attack (game freezing). I've seen the same symptoms at times. Pay attention to who is online at the times that these problems occur. I recommend that you install Wireshark and capture traffic. If you're comfortable with using the command line then I advise starting by only capturing traffic with dumpcap (part of Wireshark) since it requires administrative privileges. Once the traffic capture is stopped, display the traffic with Wireshark as an unprivileged user, since Wireshark sometimes has security flaws. Here are example commands for capturing traffic. You can store these commands in a Windows batch script file (make the extension .bat or .cmd), then simply run the batch file as Administrator each time you want to start capturing traffic. C: cd "\Program Files\Wireshark" dumpcap -D rem the above command will list several interfaces. Determine the name of the interface that rem you're using for your Internet connection. An example is rem \Device\NPF_{567B6C39-439F-45A8-B019-C5C508569708}. dumpcap.exe -i INSERT_YOUR_INTERFACE_NAME_HERE -p -w "C:\Users\INSERT_YOUR_USERNAME_HERE\Documents\traffic_capture.pcap" -s 0 You should always scan unfamiliar software for viruses with your favored virus scanning software before deciding whether to install it. There's a free service that scans with more than 50 virus scanner programs called Virustotal. But, use what you trust. And, you should always read the manual for the software before running any commands suggested by random people. Here's the manual for dumpcap, so you know what the command line arguments do. Ddos attacks usually have a lot of incoming UDP packets on a certain port, and no replies. The attackers seem to like to send the traffic to the port that one is running 0ad on.

  25. If I don't offer this, then I'll blame myself for the missed opportunity. It will be awesome if 0 A.D. would have "Post-Imperial" age like Age of Empires 2 with all completed upgrades right on the start. It will be VERY useful on small maps with small resources. (oh, please)

  27. Hello friends I am from Turkey, but currently living in Germany (01:00 GMT). I was born in Istanbul, so know the Marmara map by heart :D. I lived on the Aegean coast, what used to be ancient Ionia. I visited all the twelve Ionian city-states. My wife is from Iskenderun, ancient Alexandretta near the site of the Battle of Issus. I love learning about history (you get the idea :D), especially Ancient Greek history. And you can tell I love Greek mythology; my nickname is the name Odysseus uses to introduce himself to cyclops Polyphemus as a trick to avoid retribution from the other cyclopes after blinding him. I speak English and Turkish, and am learning German. I cannot speak Greek (yet :D), but I can read Greek letters and understand enough to order a nice dinner.

  28. then I expressed myself too vaguely. is the type of damage the same (sure: if seconds and meter were also the same, of course) in other words: Javelin, 10.0, 50m every 1sec Bow, 10.0, 50m every 1sec is that the same? Only the name is different here. Is this then the same damage?
