Hi everyone just came to say hi, and to share some Pictures of the Empires At war Rise of Rome 0AD Scenario that I have been working on for almost a year... Just have some talks with Lopess, a Brazilian moder, I meet at this forum. to join forces and make this scenario a Solid 0 AD Game scenario for all you guys to enjoy and play, or modified as you like, with the Roman Republic as the main protagonist, and it's chronological history of conquest and expansion across the whole Mediterranean Sea and Central Europe. Here, I'm sharing some pictures with some remarks, so you all can get an Idea of how it is coming so far. Share your ideas and opinions, all criticism, good or bad are welcome, specially suggestions...and thanks for sharing. Remarks are in Spanish, so to those That don't speak Spanish, I'm sorry guys... But that is the language I used to communicate with Lopess who speak Portuguese, too...and I send pictures to him first and now I'm sharing them here...but you guys get the idea... Peace and prosperity be with you all. Thanks for sharing, guys.2 points

I don't know if this would be a good change (opinion), if I want to know the rating of someone I just read his rating not the color.2 points

@Carltonus proposed Cassivellaunus (Cassiuellaunos) which is indeed a good candidate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassivellaunus The other mentioned kings are Cingetorix, Carvilius, Taximagulus, Segonax then Mandubratius. But Cassivellaunus is indeed the most interesting choice. For the later period, there is Cartimandua of the Brigantes that could be an interesting figure and Calgacus of the Caledonians: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartimandua https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgacus2 points

This is something not mentioned in literature, or something that widely proliferated, but never the less it does show up enough times. What do you think about implementing such a utility for a Maurya horse upgrade or tech? It's not attached to the saddle like a modern stirrup, but a long rope, leather, etc. of sort with a loop on the two ends. It could be a rather unique upgrade to the Mauryas supported by evidence. Some examples I've found. References are Sanchi, chandraketugarh, kulu vase, bhaja caves. I should say though not widely used across the board in each and every horsemen like later stirrup. It shows up in various parts of the subcontinent, so it spread widely enough.1 point

To be clear, i'm asking everyone, not just developers In an attempt to improve the multiplayer lobby ui, i want to collect some opinions. You can find the related patch here and obviously is still a work in progress (what i'm about to ask hasn't been included yet). One of the ideas i had was to give players colors based on their rating. vid for reference as example: 2021-12-28 15-48-52.mp4 Now the question is, which colors would you like to see it change into depending on rating?* Right now it goes from Green (700) -> white (1200) -> Gold (1200-1999) -> Red (2500) in small increments (~every 25 rating the color will change, unless in the red zone) the higher the rating is. Please also vote in the poll. *One thing to also keep in mind is that there are player status icons that also have colors depending on what the player is doing like so: Thanks in advance. EDIT: I'm aware 1700-2000 doesn't change much, which i will fix. It's more of a showcase to give you an idea.1 point

Been seeing a lot of artistic depiction of topless Scythian infantry with a lower abdomen armor that somehow looks like a belt of some sort.1 point

We could indeed make an EA-compatible Scythians mod, and then I'd draw assets for DE from that mod?1 point

This is the main reason I’m all in favour of GitLab, because this is the one I can help with. Including for long term maintenance. I think that for equivalent features, volunteers for administration/maintenance is what should drive the choice of tools. So if other people feel ready to dedicate some of their time for the maintenance of the development environment, it might be a good idea to make these intentions known1 point

I need to organize the references better so we can get some consistent output. Maybe I'll start that task now.1 point

I really don't think Perforce and Plastic are the solution here. We've got the money for it, but it would be a shame to be dependent on proprietary software. At least they seem to support multiple platforms. I guess it would be a nightmare for maintainers to have to install such tools though. Still not convinced we actually need LFS or that the benefits outweigh the constraints. At the end of the day you'll still have to download binaries. Less of course, but still Git also has the advantage of being decentralized, where svn isn't which I think mean that if the server ever falls / fails we may lose the history. Maybe relevant: https://backlog.com/blog/git-vs-svn-version-control-system/ I'm not sure I said it before, but I'd really like to lessen my admin sys workload which is why I proposed to replace Jenkins, Trac, and Phabricator by Gitlab. And hence the reason I want to switch to git. I'm also for this.1 point

Are there some numbers? (Just wondering, I've met various approaches) I suppose it may not tell about Git, but products like Plastic/Perforce. Because they are commercial and companies might pay for their integration.1 point

My thoughts: I like git; (Bit controversial, but) I also like Phabricator (and, despite its flaws, arcanist!) (So I'd like to see consideration of migrating across to Phorge - once the Phorge team release a guide as to how to do that!) I'd like to see the repository split to differentiate between the engine and the game; I'd like to see binaries off-loaded via git-lfs or some other suitable tool; I'd like to for us to stop committing Windows-only binaries into the repository, but make them available through other means for those unable (or unwilling) to build themselves: The same process could potentially be used to provide "nightly" builds for macOS and some Linux distros as well; (On a related note, I'd also like to see a build script for Windows like the one we have for macOS - e.g. it also fetches and builds the libraries/dependencies. But that's for another thread.) We should continue to be self-hosted where possible;1 point

Merry Christmas y'all! I got presents, and I totally don't got Covid - PCR test result finally turned up this morning, and have Xmas day Borg match for you. Life, for now, is good. And please spare a thought for @LetswaveaBook - he fared better than most of us would! And see previous post above, he's got more games uploaded as well, check them out (after you've watched mine, of course!)1 point

Just adding the official 0AD Newbie Rush edition of @Yekaterina's guide here; Download link below Massive thanks to @Yekaterina for allowing me to produce the official tie-in version, I've no doubt it's going to be popular and look forward to reading future, updated editions (not least because I'm so bad at the game myself and need all the help I can get!) ^ lol both of you are better at rushing than booming... @LetswaveaBook @Player of 0AD Care to play a boom contest with me? Even if you can beat my build order, there is still Havran, ChillaOfVanilla, christoffel symbol, chrstgtr, berhudar, juarca and NoobDude to steamroller you in booming if you forget to rush them. So, rushing is great in A25 if you encounter any of these guys.1 point

I have found similar individual ornamental objects in the Scandinavian countries. I know that the Scythians loved to decorate their horses with gold and copper stirrups and saddles. This is a literary fact because Vikenty Khvoika wrote about this time. I recently read archival documents about the Scythian burials and riches of this nomadic people.1 point

The Britons Celts of British Isles Above: Cassivellaunus (left), Cunobelin (right) Above: Caratacos (left), Boudicca (right) Above: Brythonic Citizens (left), Celtic Druid-Healer (right) (One of the Britons heroes, Boudicca, in her infantry form) I need help deciding on a 4th (and possibly 5th) Briton hero. I'm thinking a king, chieftain, or notable figure who resisted Julius Caesar's invasion or the later conquest.0 points
