Actually that message is misleading. It's used to parse 3Dsmax and FBX exported files, because they contain some stuff the game cannot deal with. Blender is exempt of this. The XML is correct however the model is not. Prop points need to be parented to the mesh. To do so in Blender with all selected and the tower selected as active, press CTRL + P and click object. Then reexport. Small nitpick (Plane_083.005) should ideally be something like han_defense_tower, and the mesh (Plane.005) called han_defense_tower_mesh As for the AO, I made a custom material to bake it correctly. You can append it in your scene from this file → ao-as-emissive.blend Make sure to put the correct normal map in the graph, and to select the texture for baking. Of course apply the material to the mesh (Don't forget to remove it before exporting) Then instead of baking ambient occlusion, bake emissive ao-as-emissive.blend As for the fortress mesh itself, something is off with it, you shouldn't see through from any side.3 points

If you mean the resource rice itself it was for easier integration I think. I tried to remove as much Delenda Stuff as possible, to avoid the commit that would break everything. If you mean the rice fields: Here is my discussion with Nescio han-inclusion-A25.pdf Here is the original rice field thread Here is the thread Yekaterina created Here is the thread Nescio created for the redesign This discussion is taking such huge proportions and I don't see a way to fix that easily. Do you want access? After all you made some significant contributions to the mod ^^3 points

One can try that already by changing the "template_formation". Just uncomment the "VisualActor" part.3 points

Introduction. This mechanic derives from hybrid games and subgenres of RTS and Wargames. The tactical real time games .. Real-time tactics (RTT) is a subgenre of tactical wargames played in real-time simulating the considerations and circumstances of operational warfare and military tactics. It is differentiated from real-time strategy gameplay by the lack of classic resource micromanagement as well as the greater importance of individual units and a focus on complex battlefield tactics. this mechanic in conventional RTS is called formation-group (Rise and Fall: CaW) or control group points(Praetorians). ____________________________ This post will include several sections, technical, artistic and gameplay. The first discussion here is the visual, when i tried it i didn't even know how it worked. I think that to avoid confusion there should be an extra factor. Something visual that allows the player to distinguish that the formation is now one ( single thing. A banner or graphic identification, above I leave an example.2 points

I would definitely prefer rice (mostly cause it is a nice to have something different than the usual fields) And afaik most people are not against rice per se, only the opinions on the correct depiction diverge. So imo, yes just make rice the default, so that at least people can try the mod without getting errors2 points

Honestly though, it's in progress - I'm trying to build a buffer of completed match replays to give me a good week or so playing Delenda Est properly. Last time I tried this, I barely scratched the surface of the differences in gameplay between vanilla 0AD and Delenda Est. I recorded the audio of me talking about it, but it wasn't very convincing as I'd barely had chance to play it properly. I do want to do it justice because it's clearly quite an achievement.2 points

Maybe it took a lot of time because of the sample count. At least there is no noise. It's better to remove the alpha channel too for better compression.1 point

Hi, As you can see you have enabled some mods, which cannot be found by the engine (red ones). As engine disables all mods in this case and runs only on minimum, there is known issue which probably originates in the fact that restarting game from the code does not clean everything as it should so some parts still try to use files from public mod, which is disabled at that point.1 point

Great, I think this needs to be a ticket on your phab. The trickle is my approach to implement corruption.1 point

@Stan I dunno who to ping for that, I spotted in the svn tree changes with rounding. I would have another such example. Atm, the ministry has a 0.1 tickle, each of the max 9 ministers adds a further 0.1 tickle, so it is max 1. The 1 is never shown, but a precicion float approximating 1.1 point

Hello everyone, This year and for the past three years 0 A.D. was holding a stand at the FOSDEM. Like every time, it was a very great experience for me, and I was happy to be able to join @Itms, @plumo, @implodedok, @FeXoR, @bb_, @Imarok, @vladislavbelov and @fabio in this adventure. This year was a bit special because I got to co-host a game dev room with the guys at Godot thanks to Akien and Straton and of course to all the people I convinced to give talks and the people that attended said talks. I think the dev room was an overall positive experience so it's great! You can find the videos here. Our room was K.3.201. Some videos might not have been uploaded yet. There were a lot of interesting talks, especially the one about the Spring engine going to Steam. I got to talk a bit with the guys at the GSOC stand and they apparently knew us, so maybe we'll be more lucky this year. I got to meet a lot of people for the first time, some of the above team members, but also @Krinkle, @balduin. I also met @oSoMoN with who we discussed a potential better usage of the Snap Packages for 0 A.D. The idea would be to offer special features to be tested as snap packages on something like Kiwit CMS. By using this specific platform we would be able to set up test scenarios for things not covered by CI and unit tests. I also had the great honor to meet with Ton Roosendal (the CEO of Blender) and Dalai Felinto. We had an informal chat at our stand about our usage of Blender. Bernard Tyers asked me to give a talk at the design dev room next year and I think I'm gonna deliver. The Raspberry Pi 4 I brought had quite a nice success as it caught the eye and people were amazed that it could run on such a low end device. A few people were interested in helping out. We are looking forward to hearing from them. Thanks for all the people who gave us donations! For those who paid for music CDs I hope you'll enjoy them. For those that could not get one you can grab it here. See you all next year, or at the next FLOSS event that we will attend which will likely be JDLL in Lyon, France.1 point

I think a good start for this thread would be to explain what soft batallions are and how they work.1 point

Triggers a slight problem as is, the halberd units are atm tier2. If I remove the spear cav, make halb tier1 and starting unit, or no cav starting units at all, and more starting infantry instead? Or, different approach, make spear units upgradable to halberd?1 point

I see some potentially either missing or normal-flipped geometry inside the outer wall of the fortress. You see it? (the problem is present in the original Fortress model as well, I don't think you introduced it).1 point

A dual release would be fitting. Either that, or release Han for A26 and have an Alpha 27 "Nomads" release with Xiongnu and Scythians. DE's Scythians already create a strong framework. I'd go ahead and make Xiongnu a playable civ. That doesn't mean some China maps can't have Xiongnu raiders and brigands (perhaps with triggers).1 point
-
@ValihrAnt May I suggest you try another civ and another map? Miletus Peninsula, Gallic Highlands, and Saharan Oases skirmish maps are the ones I worked the most on, so are probably the best. I was thinking about trying out a nomadic civ, so these suggestion are really useful.1 point

Mainly that maps should either be specific or generic, not both. So, if a random map is called "Corinthian Isthmus", then it should use the Aegean biome. If it's called just "Isthmus" then it can have more biome options. So, "Badlands" can have various biome options, but "Cappadocian Badlands" should use an Anatolian or Middle Eastern biome. I've gone rounds with @wraitii about this. I think he and I respect each others positions, but we still disagree. And in an open source project like this, either another programmer must champion my position and submit patches to make it happen in my stead, or I must submit the patches myself, and then the merits can be agreed upon by the collective. Honestly, I might just mod the maps myself and add them to Delenda Est to that end. I created the mod specifically so I wouldn't have to compromise.1 point

metadata.jsoncommands.txtToday I played ranked games with Thomas13012m and Zoldick, and they both left the game in a manner that caused me to not rank up. The first game Thomas13012m left before I could finish the objetive, but had destroyed his CCs and Zoldick left right after resigning and somehow it didn't registered. This files are from Zoldick and the first files I coppied are from Thomas13012m. commands.txtmetadata.json1 point

I agree that this ^ looks strange and I'm not sure which version of the fields that is, but the version that is in DE looks nice to me they could be a bit closer to the ground and the rice plants could be a bit more random but overall I like the look. Or as I already mentioned one of the drafts from this thread:1 point
