  1. Build 14.04.2021 (24937-relese) MapEditor (not showing it's version details somewhere) Loading the generated map in 0AD, i am unable to activate/set the ceasefire time. Within the map editor i am not able to find an option or checkbox to allow/predefine that wanted ceasefire option. btw: The "security check" is not only a privacy violation, it's reminding time is way too short. i have to do that the 3rd time now

  2. I am currently thinking about helping you - as a senior developer with my 30+ years of experience. To be honest, i would like to figure out a bit how much 0AD is fascinating us about some weeks (as very long and routined AoE2 players). I already throw a short view into the technical docs. Don't know if and where your project could need some assistance from me.

  3. Maharbal. The 30% bonus is better than the +2 armor. Can also be combined with champions. At the other hand, the Cataphrakts can receive the bonus upgrade, which makes them stronger in the end Btw I like sword cav more than spear cav

  4. Do you have a comment about what you have seen so far in the game? Would you like to see some changes? If you have some constructive criticism, please post it here! We can't guarentee that we can make the changes; but, if your point is a valid one... we just might.

  5. I have already been experimenting with giving the game a much needed update to the terrain textures. I have been exclusively using assets from this website here, licensed as cc0: CC0 Textures - Public Domain PBR Materials We could contact this gentleman and ask for his assistance in creating new assets if his site currently does not have them and WFG could even become a Patron (his highest Patreon level is $5/month). Even if we don't try to partner with him, we can still utilize his excellent CC0 assets and ask him to check out how we're using his stuff. cough I am very keen now on using CC0 or CC-BY-SA materials. eh hem. And so far the results have been better than I'd hoped. EXAMPLES India: Desert (using assets from the India biome) Alpine-Polar (I think these 2 should be combined) Pros for updating the terrains: The game's current terrains are inconsistent in quality and scattershot in style. A new set of terrains can unify the quality and style. Terrains take up a massive amount of screen space, or what the player sees, so improving them gives a large boost in visual quality. The current terrains don't fully take advantage of the graphics engine's capabilities. A new set of terrains can do that. Improving the terrains can bring the look of the game closer to modern expectations. We can reduce the sheer number of terrains by half, which comes with the benefit of visual consistency and ease of use for mappers. Cons for updating the terrains: It will take considerable effort and take attention away from other possible tasks. The new textures will be on average 4x larger than the existing textures and will add normal maps and spec maps where previously there were few. Will increase the graphics memory load and possibly push out those with low-spec computer rigs. ?

  6. Hello everyone! I'm Ratkid, and I recently started messing around with the 0AD Scenario Editor. I found out there is a very limited amount of information and helpful guides online about this feature, so I started a discord where we can connect with each other! This way we can help by answering each other's questions and testing new maps! Everyone is welcome to join the 0 AD Scenario Editor Discord and invite others too join as well with the following link: https://discord.gg/E2UWF2Nk Noob or pro, we can use all the help out there! I look forward to seeing you all there! - Ratkid

  7. "Pirrians" ? You mean the mollossian epirots surely but no way they are too close to macedon both culturally and strategy wise, maybe in the future could be a hero idk as he did rule macedon very briefly. The numidians are inserted in the carthage faction as well as phoenicians , i mean Tyre is know for the dye and being besieged like all the time.

  8. https://play0ad.com/game-info/factions/ The first edition of 0 A.D. will allow the player to control any of 13 ancient civilizations from the pre-common era. Each culture will be represented at the peak of its civilization, somewhere along the timeline of 500 B.C. to 1 B.C. We have decided to call this first edition “0 A.D. – Empires Ascendant”. In future editions of the game, we hope to represent notable civilizations from 1 A.D. to 500 A.D. The list will not be finalized until the first edition has gone gold, but some possible civilizations include Late Rome, Imperial Rome or Eastern Rome, the Germanics, Vandals, Sarmatians, Saxons, Parthians, Huns, Dacians, and the Goths.

  14. I wish seleucids had a melee CS (sword, spear, or axe) cavalry, it is so awkward to use their cavalry unless you mindlessly spam archer cav. If seles had this, they would probably be my favorite civ. I am one to hope they get one in a25 :D.

  15. Thanks again for your very quick and very helpful support, Stanislas ! I copied the both map files from my computer to the other one and started the game. Worked like a charme ! We played (and are still playing) AoE2. I think it would be a very helpful feature, if the 0AD client will copy (download) the game files automatically from the server. Like in AoE2 where also my own maps are recognized and shared automatically with all other players before starting a multiplayer game. If the security concerns are too big, maybe the server could read/open the game details, transmit the data to the clients and they could save those defined and formatted data back into a game file. Would be a bit more complex, but block all hacks or mis-usages of the XML files. Or (as 3rd idea) the server opens the XML file and checks the validity of the content, generates a hash and the clients can download the file from the server. Before starting the game, the hashes are shares and validated between server and client. A automatic-sharing-solution should be implemented, because most other players will be deterred by the current way of sharing maps (just my two cents). This ticket can be closed and marked are successfully answered. Thanks again !

  16. Tried it out - you're right. Saving the map in the tab "skirmish", restarting the game and trying to start the map again, i am now able to set the ceasefire option. For all other users searching their maps on ubuntu systems (0AD installed through snap): ~/snap/0ad/206/.local/share/0ad/mods/user/maps/scenarios/ Thank you very much for your very quick and helpful response, Stanislas ! Ticket can be closed.

  17. Yes you have to share your map, as it's a security concern to be able to download maps from the internet.

  18. Right sorry about that, we have a lot of spam attacks, and this is to prevent them from doing too much damage. It should work now Yeah scenarios have those restrictions, you move it to skirmish to lift it. If you still want to be restrictive you need to edit the XML file of the map location depends on your OS https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths <![CDATA[ { "CircularMap": true, "Description": "In the deep Sahara Desert of Africa lies an area of rocky outcrops and small oases. \n\nLarge stone quarries can be found in the cliffs, while wood and animal resources can be found near the oases dotting the landscape. Nearby fruiting Date Palms give an nice initial burst of food.", "Keywords": [ "new" ], "Name": "Saharan Oases (4)", "PlayerData": [ {}, {}, {}, {} ], "Preview": "saharan_oases_4p.png", "VictoryConditions": [ "conquest" ] } ]]> And add "Ceasefire":15, Like so: <![CDATA[ { "CircularMap": true, "Description": "In the deep Sahara Desert of Africa lies an area of rocky outcrops and small oases. \n\nLarge stone quarries can be found in the cliffs, while wood and animal resources can be found near the oases dotting the landscape. 19. Scenario maps would theoretically have triggers, locked teams, locked civs, storylines, locked victory conditions, specific starting resources, objectives, etc. Skirmish maps allow the flexibility of random maps, by allowing players to choose their civs, victory conditions, starting resources, and a few other options, while allowing the designer to sculpt a great-looking map in Atlas.

  26. Hello! I checked the hotkeys in-game and in the docu. My game is set to German language, but the hotkeys seem to stick to a US/UK (English) keyboard layout. E.g.: On a keyboard with German layout, the [ (Left Bracket) is on the number 8 key (CTRL+8) and the ] (Right Bracket) is on the number 9 key (CTRL+9). However, in the game, I have to press (on my German keyboard) the key ü for the [ (Left Bracket) and the key + for the ] (Right Bracket), both are left of the # key. Actually, it is the same behaviour as if I used a terminal with English keyboard setting, while using my German keyboard. Hmm, have I explained this in an understandable manner? I hope so. Do you have an idea, if in my case, the problem sits in front of my PC, or if I can change something? Or is there maybe a "bug"? Thank you!

  31. I think you've misread, 'hotkey.camera.down' is S or DownArrow on GitHub too. Maybe you've confused it with 'rotate down'?

  32. Another interesting project in this regard is there: https://waldobronchart.github.io/ShortcutMapper/#Blender https://github.com/waldobronchart/ShortcutMapper @Stan` and other 0 A.D. artists: There are also keyboard layouts with Blender shortcuts - maybe interesting for you, too?

  33. Oh, my bad - the problem was indeed me. I have the same layout as shown in your screenshot - thanks for that. And if I had looked thoroughly (and with the German, not English language game setting, of course), I would have seen this - see my screenshot. So everything is fine. PS: Is it possible (and does it make sense?) to translate that screen with the hotkeys as well? I have to admit that even when reading (and understanding) English "session.rotate.ccw/cw" I first stumbled over this. How about English "building.rotate.counter-clockwise/.clockwise" instead? And in German "Gebäude.Rotation.Gegenuhrzeigersinn/.Uhrzeigersinn"?
    1 point
  34. No. But if you find a picture, it becomes clear Language is another subsystem of the game. They are not related. The game should automatically display symbols corresponding to the layout with which it is launched (via libSDL). Do you have exactly one (German) keyboard layout in your system? What operating system?

  36. For maps situated in Africa, it's important to realize the continent consists of several distinct ecoregions (get a decent map or consult Wikipedia (linked). From north to south: Mediterranean zone (used to be fertile): coastal Morocco to Egypt. Atlas Mountains (wooded): Morocco to northern Tunisia. Sahara (desert): Mauretania to Egypt. Sahel (transition zone): Mauretania to Sudan. Sudan (savanna): West Sudanian savanna: Senegal to Northern Nigeria; North Central savanna: southern Chad, northern Central African Republic, western South Sudan; East Sudanian savanna: Uganda to Eritrea. The Sudd (swamp along the Nile in the centre of South Sudan) separates the savanna regions. Forest-savanna mosaic (nomen est omen): Guinean: Senegal to Cameroon; also includes the Dahomey Gap; Northern Congolian: Cameroon to South Sudan. Tropical moist broadleaf forests (I doubt anyone would ever use this technical term in daily language): Upper Guinean forests: Guinea and Sierra Leone to Togo; Lower Guinean forests: Benin to Cameroon; Atlantic Equatorial coastal forests: Cameroon to Democratic Republic of Congo; Northwestern Congolian lowland forests: Cameroon to DRC; Congolian rainforests: Cameroon to DRC. The above is roughly the situation north of the equator. Below the equator you get practically the same ecoregions, though in reversed order, under different names, in different countries. The different ecoregions are actually identifiable from space: Of course, it's easier on schematic maps: These vegetation zones correlate (i.e. not a 1:1 correspondence) with climate: precipitation (rainfal): temperature: and, to a lesser extent, even language families:

  37. Let's take stock of the current terrains situation (Alpha 23-24) Current Biomes. Inconsistent. Alpine 41 terrains 41 textures Desert 58 terrains 59 textures Mediterranean 40 terrains 42 textures Polar 17 terrains 17 textures Savanna 36 terrains 37 textures Steppe 13 terrains 13 textures Temperate 47 terrains 48 textures Tropic 32 terrains 33 textures Let's look at a potential Alpha 25 situation. Consistency. Proposed Biomes Aegean-Anatolian 18 terrains 36 textures Alpine-Arctic 18 terrains 36 textures East Asia (Bonus) 18 terrains 36 textures Equatorial Africa (Bonus) 18 terrains 27 textures Hispania-North Africa 18 terrains 27 textures India 18 terrains 36 textures Italy 18 terrains 36 textures Mesoamerica (Bonus) 18 terrains 27 textures Middle East 18 terrains 27 textures Mongolian-Tarim (Bonus) 10 terrains 15 textures Nubia-Savanna 18 terrains 36 textures Sahara 18 terrains 27 textures Steppe (Bonus) 15 terrains 30 textures Temperate-European 18 terrains 36 textures Why do some proposed biomes have 18 terrains and 36 textures, while others have 18 terrains and 27 textures? It's because they will reuse many of the same assets, specifically normal maps and spec maps. Some diffuse maps will simply be color corrected for the biome and can share normal maps and spec maps from other biomes. For example, the Alpine-Arctic biome could use the same diffuse map as the Temperate biome for a cliff texture, just color corrected for Alpine theme, and then share the same normal and spec maps between them. This saves time and effort as well as unifies the look of the complete set of terrains. (Bonus) Biomes are lower priority. For instance, if the Xiongnu are added, then the Mongolian-Tarim biome would good to add. If Scythians or other similar civs are added, then the Steppe biome would be good to add. Otherwise, these biomes could be added lastly, the others a greater priority since we have civs already in-game for these biomes.

  41. The period of "Lusitanian Wars" (the pinnacle of civilization so to speak) is 200 to 19 before Christ. Note: Just for information, before this period, the Lusitanians took part in the armies of Hannibal in the Punic Wars, and before as mercenaries with the Spartans against Athens.

  42. What I meant is you can make the two units one horse but you have to modify the horse. He does have only one prop point ( one emplacement When you can put a soldier) And there will be no dismounting. At least in the main game. For the faction I ´ll be for implementing it though since I will be the pnly artist. Working on buildings that will be looooong

  43. This is not to disassemble, just create the Lusitanians faction, as was done in Celtic faction, when was created the Brythonic and Gaulish factions. In the case of the Lusitanians is even simpler, since the Iberian continue to exist. The Lusitanian Wars, was the greatest of wars against Rome occurred in Iberia, and the Lusitanian nation is a distinct completely the Iberians. As this is how the Greeks and Romans put themselves in the same faction.

  44. The Lusitanians is a very interesting option, not only for its undeniable condition most important Iberian nation as the aesthetics. For exemple, the monument will be the Lusitanian warrior: : Castro:
